  • About me
yes.. this month i'll be reviewing a lot of stuff.. some because i just bought it and can't resist to try it, but some in order to get rid of my samples mountain so i can buy again something new.. hahaha.. anyway, it's the end of the year, so why keep piling on that good stuff? plus i'm in my last trimester.. might as well pamper myself before i can't do it anymore after the baby's arrived.  okay, one of the stuff that kept hidden in my closet is this mask sheet. i had it probably for almost 6 months and haven't got the chance to try it.. and after trying innisfree mask sheet, i feel the urge the finish all my mask sheet.. so i decided to open my etude mask sheet.

actually, etude house i need you alphabet mask sheet is quite famous.. they have cute and attractive designs and lots of choice make it harder to choose which alphabet to choose. are you going to pick the alphabet of your name or by it's use? well, at first i ordered V and Q, but the seller sent me A and V instead.. oh well, never mind.. i thought if i tried it and liked it, i will order the other mask sheet. but i kept procrastinating  and now the alphabet mask has changed i assume. below is the picture of the original alphabet mask series.
i need you A to Z mask sheet
the description from their malay website: 26 types (i think it's 27 since there's a heart mask after Z) of facial masks that treat all your skincare concerns with an array of ingredients by alphabet A-Z. mix and match these mask sheets to take care of your skin concerns, such as, dryness, lacking of elasticity, dullness. face and environment friendly sheet. sheets made of alphacon, corn fiber and natural pulp cover your skin perfectly and discompose naturally when buried for the environment. deep moisture. natural hydrating ingredients for sensitive and dry skin.
but lately, i've noticed that some sellers stop posting the alphabet mask and start selling this type of mask..and on their website, it's written it's their i need you mask (2014). below is the picture of the new line mask.
i need you mask (2014)
the new line only consists of 20 masks.. i haven't got the chance to figure out which ingredients got kicked out. but i think most of the masks still have the same ingredients as the previous line.

okay.. back to the alphabet mask.. i tried the V one first. if you're wondering about all the 26 alphabets + 1 heart, here's the list of the ingredients.
A = aloe = soothing
B = bulgarian rose = whitening
C = collagen = firming
D = dandelion = revitalizing
E = elder flower = soothing & moisturizing
F = fir = purifying
G = green tea = moisture & relief
H = hyaluronic acid = richly moisturizing
I = imortelle = energizing & nourishing
J = job's tears = revitalizing & smoothing
K = korean ginseng = revitalizing & nourishing
L = lemon = tone clarifying
M = mango = nourishing & firming
N = noni = revitalizing
O = olive = deep moisture
P = pomegranate = smooth elasticity
Q = q10 = tightening & firming
R = royal jelly = smooth hydration
S = shea butter = richly nourishing
T = tea tree = trouble care
U = unpolished rice = firming & nourishing
V = vitamin complex = radiating skin
W = white pearl = bright complexion
X = xylitol forrest = clean moisture
Y = yogurt strawberry = soft & moist
Z = zucchini = nourishing & moisturizing
Heart = antioxidant

as you can see, most of the masks are meant for moisturizing and nourishing.. and the V that i tried is for radiating. vitamin complex extract from fruits provides natural radiance (that's what it said on the malay website).

the packaging: the design is cute and colorful. each alphabet has different design according to its ingredients. the vitamin one has capsules picture all over the package.
the product: the size is similar with innisfree's, but i think it's a bit smaller than innisfree. and it's also very wet with the ingredients, but this one dries up after 15-20 minutes.. it felt cool when first applied on my face, just like wet tissue, but since the serum dries up at the end of usage, i don't feel hot when i took it off, unlike innisfree's.
the smell: all i can say it smells like wet tissue.. there's a hint of alcohol scent that every wet tissue has.
the result: since most of the essence has been absorbed.. i only massaged it for a little bit, i do feel my skin moisturized like innisfree's, but not that richly moisturized. probably since it isn't for moisturizing like green tea... and the day after, i don't notice the suppleness like green tea, and no radiating effect.. i don't see any brightening effect, but since i slept very late almost everyday now, the mask helps in that matter. i don't look like a person that lacks of sleep.

overall, this is a fun mask, the design is cute and makes you want to collect them all. and it has huge variants to choose from.. and i have to say it works quite well too.. and the most important one, it's not that expensive. oh well, i can't say about the whole line, but hopefully i can try the new line soon...

this is another sample that i received from one of my haul.. sorry, i forgot which sellers gave me this sample.. if you're familiar with skinfood gold caviar line, there is another serum in the line, the gold caviar collagen serum.. so you might want to be careful to read reviews.

this is the description from eng.theskinfood.com: a total care serum that takes care of the wrinkles, nutrients, resilience, and moisture at the same time with the russian caviar extracts and gold ingredients.

the packaging: the full size product is in a bottle.. very luxurious bottle.. with gold and cream color on the body of the bottle. the collagen one have purplish tone on the bottle, but the original gold caviar don't. the sample however, is similar. i have tried the collagen serum before, and the color of the sachet sample is similar to gold caviar serum, so make sure you read the name of the product carefully at the bottom of the sample sachet. luckily it's in english...
the smell: it smells goodddd... it's fragrant but not annoying. very subtle.. even for people who can't stand fragrant scent, this one.. i can smell it all day.. and it's very comforting. probably since it's best to be used at night.. i might say that the smell is floral.. but i don't know what flower...
the product: it's a whitish gel cream.. the consistency is similar to laneige sleeping pack.. but more in gel spectrum. it's absorbed quickly and don't feel sticky afterwards.
the result: one sachet lasts for 5 days for me (i only use it at night). since i only have one sample, i have no saying about the anti-wrinkle result, but all i know it's moisturizing but not making my skin greasy. it makes my skin softer and more supple in one night.. probably it has the same effect after applying innisfree green tea mask sheet.. my skin gets moisturized and nourished for the next day. i think probably it will help with the wrinkle stuff.. but who knows? so far it doesn't cause me breakouts.

will i buy the full size product? probably not.. it's quite expensive for low-end brand.. and it only moisturizes my skin.. while missha's also brightens my skin. so it hasn't beat missha serum just yet..

one thing that i think i will never buy is eyebrow pencil. since i have pretty bushy eyebrow. but lately, i was bored, and last time, when i got my makeup done for my graduation, the makeup artist managed not to tweeze all my brows, just shaped it and then fill the gap with brow pencil. and i saw my brows got defined a little bit. and somehow i liked it. well, my husband believed that my craving toward makeup grows since i was pregnant with a baby girl, and he told me that the superstition about having a baby girl make the mother became more beautiful is true. well, i do hope it's because i'm taking care of my skin better than before.. not just because of the pregnancy hormone.. oh well, back to my boredom, i was supposed to buy another facial cleanser since we're about running out the old one, but then, why just buy one item? so i searched for something else. since at that time i've already bought my roseroseshop haul, so i can't buy any skincare, so makeup it is. and since i've bought most my makeup wish list on preorderlair, the only item i haven't bought is eyebrow pencil.

at first i was going to buy the etude one, but i read somewhere that it was going to be discontinued, so why bother? and the seller mentioned that faceshop has similar eyebrow pencil.. so i decided to buy the faceshop.

this is the description from their international website: a smart triangular automatic eyebrow pencil that you can adjust the angle to make the inner eyebrows thick and the outer part thin. a triangular shape automatic eyebrow pencil that you can adjust the angle to create any shape you want. a more modern and simple design. a trendy design that can appeal to young consumers. new formula that suits the market and makeup trend. soft texture that completely adheres to the eyebrows and more powerful long lasting abilities. a triangular shaped pencil for easier application.
from sokoglam: an eyebrow pencil that will help you achieve full and youthful brows. just twist to reveal the angled brow pencil to reshape and define your brows. simply use the spoolie to brush away harsh lines for a natural look that lasts all day.

the packaging: this is a dual automatic eyebrow pencil. the automatic pencil on one side and a spoolie brush on the other end. it's practical and easy to use. pretty useful for beginner like me.
the color: faceshop offers 5 different colors, very similar to etude's. etude has dark brown, grey brown, brown, dark grey, grey and black, while face shop has gray brown, dark brown, black brown, brown, and dark gray. i pick the black brown since the dark brown is out of stock.. though i like how black brown looks like on me, i still want to order dark brown next time. it's easy to make the color shown.
the lasting power: yes, it lasts for a very long time. though when i first applied it, it's easily removed by smudging it.. hmm.. perhaps tomorrow i'll try to scratch it after it's being set..

overall, i'm satisfied with my first trial.. though i still have to learn to balance my right and left eyebrow. but with this eyebrow pencil, it's easier to learn how to fill in my eyebrow gap and to soften the harsh lines with the spoolie brush. for you who loves etude eyebrow pencil but finding hard time to find it nowadays, probably this one can be your new favorite eyebrow pencil. and if you're a beginner like me and have no idea where to start, getting this an eyebrow pencil might be a good start.

as you might all know, the famous fermented skincare is sk-ii, and many korean brands have dupes for it. the famous one probably is missha, and then innisfree, iope, and nature republic joined the wagon. as for nature republic, i guess they have the original the first line and the whitening series one. i've tried the emulsion and i was experiencing purging/breakouts, which is rarely happened to me. and now i got the sample of the first ampoule essence. let's see whether or not it cause me purging.

this is the description from en.koreadepart.com:
ingredients: yeast extract, centella asiatica extract, portulaca oleracea l extract, arctium lappa extract, licorice extract, peony extract, cnidium extract, lavender extract, rosemary extract, sanghwang mushroom extract, chamomile extract, cava extract, kuzu vine extract, marshmallow extract, lavender extract.
product description: the first line includes fermented yeast extract and herb complex. naturally fermented ingredients revitalize skin. moisturizing, tightening, cleansing dead skin cells, and controlling sebum. 7 types of organic herb extract pacifies and cares skin. includes 80% of fermented yeast ingredient. brightens skin and vitamin capsule brightens overall tone.
this ampoule essence is supposed to be use after the essence, but i don't see why you should use both essences, so i guess either one must be sufficient.

the packaging: the picture above is the picture of the full size product. but the sample i received is in a plain white sachet. quite different with the full size product design.
the smell: i don't smell any fermented scent.. i just smell gel-lish scent.. if you're familiar with thrombopob gel, well, the smell is similar to that one.
the product: it's a clear gel cream, pretty thick for essence. at first i thought it will be runny like essence normally do, but it didn't. but it's absorbed quickly, so i guess it's watery. it doesn't leave sticky feeling after applying it.
the result: one sachet can last 3 days for me (i use it twice a day.. a tiny bit will do). no breakouts, no purging. but as for the result, all i can say it maintains my skin moisture level. no brightening effect noticed since i only use it for a very short time.

sooo.. probably this essence is suitable for all skin types.. and if you don't want to splurge on sk-ii and looking for cheaper dupes, probably you might want to try this one. as for me, i'm still have innisfree soybean light version to try, so i won't make any decisions just yet.

korean are pretty addict to their mask ritual, and mask sheet is a must for them. though i've bought some etude mask sheets, but i haven't got the time to try them yet.. and now i have some innisfree mask sheets too.. since it's an anniversary gift from innisfree singapore. yep, i was having a short getaway earlier this month and decided to drop by at their shop in bugis junction and let myself bought the bb cushion.. hahaha.. and since i've spent more than sgd 25, if i applied member, i'll get the gift, so why not? the gift was a mask kit, total 5 masks in it. superrr!!

innisfree it's real squeeze mask has 20 variants if i'm not mistaken... this is the product description from innisfreeworld.com: soothing and moisturizing with extracted green tea. jeju green complex - green tea, tangerine, white lotus, camelia, orchid. 3 layered sheet for long time moisturizing with great adherence.
i believe the mask has new appearance.. which makes them looks like food blogger's picture.. hahaha.. the main ingredients is captured in a wooden spoon, with white background. i like the new design though.. it's clean and somehow refreshing.
if you're curious about the 3 layered sheet meaning
from en.koreadepart.com: the ingredients are green tea extract, orange peel extract, orchid extract, camellia leaf extract, fruit extract of baeknyeoncho.
jeju green complex penetrate deep into skin providing moisture for bright and clear skin. triple layer sheet provide long lasting moisture and keep essence moist for long hours giving quick skin absorption. how to use: after face wash, use toner. take out the mask, apply onto face gently, remove after 10-20 minutes, tap lightly excess amount of essence for absorption.

actually, i don't know what to expect from a mask sheet, since a one-time usage might not give the best result, but as i read madaboutmyskin's blog, she described some aspects to expect from a mask sheet, which are effectiveness, adherence, and absorption. well, that gives me the idea..

the packaging: the design is clean and refreshing, with the ingredients picture in front of the package and english text, it's easier to help you to choose which mask you want.
the product: i think the size of the mask is okay. it's a bit bigger for me, but it's okay.. the eyes holes, the nose hole, and the mouth hole are in the right place. and the mask sheet is very wet with the ingredient.. though it wasn't dripping all over the place when i put it out. but it's still very wet.. before applying it, i even doubt that it will dry after 15-20 minutes, and i was right.. it was still wet after 15 minutes, and since the mask kept dropping a bit for that 15 minutes, i decided to take it off without waiting for the mask to be completely dry. oh, and it felt cool on my face, just like applying wet tissue.. but a little bit different. i was worried that it might cause allergic reaction, since i felt hot after the cool feeling when i took the mask off. but luckily nothing happened.
the smell: i can smell refreshing green tea fragrant.. but very subtle. however, i can still smell alcohol, and that makes me think the sheet is like a big wet tissue that i have to put on my face.
the result: well, i do tap the excess of the essence on my face, and it felt a little bit sticky.. but not for long. i feel my skin very moisturized, that's why i only apply my eye cream and night serum afterwards and skip the cream.. since i don't want to be super duper oily in the morning. the green tea is a moisturizing mask, so i guess for combination/oily skin, it's up to you whether or not to put the night cream afterwards. the miracle didn't happen that night, i just feel my skin moisturized, but the day after... i feel my skin is supple.. and moist, but not greasy. i love it, i can't stop myself from touching it. and somehow it makes me looks radiant. though i slept late the night before..

overall, this is a good start in my mask sheet world, but i won't purchase this one again. innisfree has 20 different ingredients to try.. so why stop now? probably i'll look for something else.. but for you who has dry skin or on long travel by plane, i think this mask is perfect for hydrating your skin.

this is another skinfood premium tomato whitening series that i bought in their trial kit. i've tried the emulsion, and now i'm trying the essence. there are 4 items in the kit, the toner, emulsion, essence and the cream. i don't try them all at once, since i don't need all that whitening kit.. i probably will only need the essence or the emulsion/cream.. so that's why i'm trying them one by one.

the whole full size product in this line
the essence has 30% of tomato extract
this is the description from en.koreadepart.com: well grown 20% tomato under sunlight and vitamin c giving bright and vital glowing skin. non sticky fresh application for soft moisture skin.

 the packaging: the sample packaging is different from the full size product packaging. the full size is probably in a screw top bottle, probably glass bottle. but the sample is in a plastic bottle with the pump on top. i prefer the pump over the screw top of the emulsion. the pump makes it easier to get the product out.
the smell: err... honestly i can't pick any scent, so i guess it's either odorless or it's very subtle.
the product: it's a clear watery-like substance. not as runny as the water, but not that thick to call it a gel cream either. it's quick to absorb, and it doesn't leave sticky feeling afterwards.
the result: please duly noted that i'm pregnant at the moment i'm trying this essence, so my hormone might messed up with the result. all i know is this essence didn't cause any breakouts, it didn't dry out my skin nor make it oilier.. as for the brightening result, i use it for almost 2-3 weeks, and i use it twice, morning and afternoon. i don't notice instant brightening result. but the picture said otherwise. my skin do look a bit brighter than before. but i'm more home-bound than usual, and it's starting to rain all day or no sun at all, so i spent most of my last couple days at home, without sunshine, so it might mess with the result.

overall, this is probably a promising whitening essence for combination-oily skin. but don't expect instant brightening effect. probably if i'll work outdoor more and need brightening essence again, i'll probably buy this one.

okay.. i know i can't help myself.. and i decided to buy another blush.. hahaha.. i had 3 colors in mind, pinched (which i've already bought, reviewed here), apricot and mauve. well, mauve came a little bit later since i'm a little bit confuse on what to get.. natural or angel or mauve.. but then i decided on mauve. don't ask me why.. since i figured if i don't like mauve, i can easily try the other one next time. both are enough for me, one coral, and one pink. one is great for everyday, and the other one more sparky but can be toned down for everyday use.

this is the description from nyx website: our pressed powder blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on easily, blends beautifully and creates a natural glow. the formula is richly-pigmented and lasts for hours. and mauve is described as matte light mauve.
the picture on the website is nowhere near the real product. on website, it looks like brownish blush, but in reality, it's more on the pink side.

the packaging: it's a single blush in a black plastic square pan with a transparent cover. the blush inside is decorated with pyramids on the surface.
the texture: it's powdery, but pinched is more powdery than mauve. probably similar to sephora.
the color: for fair skin girls, this one might be for you. though one swipe might not be enough. it's great to give a natural flush, perfect for everyday usage, but for those medium color to deep skin color girls, you might want to skip this, as this might not shown on your skin.
the lasting power: err.. since my skin is more toward normal skin nowadays, somehow my makeup stick longer than usual. but i guess pinched lasts longer than mauve, probably since it's more vibrant than mauve.

for my pink blush, this is okay..  though for that price, i might be adventurous and try something else.. after all, nyx has 24 colors to try, so why stop now?

actually i have been eyeing roseroseshop since i saw samplehime haul's on instagram several months ago, but since i have no gut to buy it straight to my home, i decided to postpone it until now. i asked my sister to buy it for me, and then bring it home on christmas. but, fortunately, my nanny had to come home early so we decided to have a short getaway and picked it myself. yey!! i got the chance to try it earlier.. and since i was in singapore, i decided to stop by at innisfree store, well, luckily my husband wanted to eat nearby so i could stop at the store after having lunch. super duper yey...
okay, now what i bought from roseroseshop. actually seeing almost everything was on sale, i wanted to buy everything, but i had to resist myself and buy essentials only.
1. the faceshop charchoal phyto powder cleansing foam: though we love the etude house baking powder cleansing foam and bb baking powder cleansing foam, i wanted to try something new for a change. plus it's very big for both of us, so i hope it will last.
2. it's skin power 10 vb effector: yep, i like the result from trying the sample, and it isn't that expensive so it won't hurt buying the full size product. let's see if i still love it.
3. nature republic argan essential deep care hair pack" have i mentioned that i'm having split ends that's very bad recently? probably it's because i changed my mask from loreal to the cheaper one, or because i'm not that diligent using it again lately.. oh well, i need to rescue my hair quickly and madaboutskin claimed that this one is a good hair mask, so i'll try it.
4. skinfood black sugar strawberry mask wash off: though i like the black sugar scrub foam, i want to try the other family member of black sugar scrub, and some people said that the original black sugar had distinct smell and some prefer the strawberry, so i decided to get the strawberry. i know.. i haven't tried the sample yet, but i guess trying the full size instantly won't hurt.
5. missha time revolution night repair science activator ampoule: well, though the full size product was on sale, but it's still expensive.. so i grabbed the samples again since i haven't tried my skinfood serum.. so i won't rush my decision on my night serum just yet.
oh. and they gave me samples of missha super aqua emulsion... we'll see about that later..
stuff i bought from roseroseshop
and for innisfree..... as you all know, i've been wanting to try the bb cushion.. and long wear cushion is on my wish list, so i swatched it on store and i don't know what's wrong but both 13 and 21 looked similar, so i decided to grab 21 since i figured i can use lighter powder if it's too dark since i don't have matte bronzer to darken 13 if it's too light. i've tried it once, and i guess it's okay.. we'll see later since i only wore it for a short time. and i got the small capsule recipe mask.. i only grabbed two.. though i want to try them all. .ahhaha... and they had promo, if i applied for membership, they will give me a pack of it's real squeeze mask for free as their 1st anniversary gift.. i have to say that i'm satisfied with my shopping this time. hahaa..
i'll review one by one later.. if i had time..
what i bought from innisfree + the gift
