my elf lip scrub is hard to use and then it turned funky so i tossed it. and i'm confused which lip scrub to buy since i don't think i can use it again. i still don't know how to use it properly without previously scratching the surface. i thought i will grab something from the body shop since i'm having birthday this month so i can get it on sale, but unfortunately, they didn't have any at that moment. so i decided to turn to kbeauty world. but again, unfortunately not many brands that carried lip scrub. the most common one is etude's. so, here i am, trying etude kissful lip scrub.

this is the description from their website: this lip scrub makes lip soft and moist with its fine grains of sugar smoothing away dead skin. direction to use: after applying and massaging gently on moist lips, wash away with lukewarm water.
pic from tokopedia
the packaging: the product is exactly like pictured above. in a squeeze tube with a cute girl picture on front and a screw top. and inside there's a slanted tip with a hole to dispose the product.

the scent: this one smells like peach. but someone said it doesn't taste like peach. i guess they have to fix this. if you make something that smells delicious to lick, probably you'll have to make it delicious to lick in reality.

the product: it's a clear lipgloss-alike with a grain inside. i can't see the grain but i can feel it on my lips. it's easier to rub around unlike elf one. some said that she felt burning sensation when she applied it, but i don't feel it. perhaps it's different sensitivity that cause the burning sensation. and it's easier to clean too.

the result: i must say i like this one better since it's in liquid form, it's easier to spread on my lips and rub around. and it does help sloughing off dead skin off my lips. although i don't have that flaky lips to start with, but it does the work.

i guess i will stick with this one for awhile.. after all, with those matte lipstick trends still going strong.. a lip scrub is a must in my stash. if you want a cheaper and easier alternative from the famous elf lip scrub, then i suggest you try this one. but don't lick it. it doesn't taste like peach. although it's not that disgusting since you don't swallow it.

since i ordered a bunch of sulwhasoo overnight vitalizing mask, i think why not try the clarifying mask as well? after all, these two masks are famous masks from sulwhasoo, and suitable for all skin types. being a luxury brand, sulwhasoo usually targeted older age, so most of their products are too rich for me (probably those who has dry skin can try, but for oily combination skin, you have to pay more attention to try their product), so i usually read a bunch of reviews before trying their sample. since sulwhasoo is a luxury brand, i can get their samples easier than cheaper brand. and usually their samples are always available. and there's not only available in sachet, but also in luxury sample, like a mini size. another reason why i want to try this mask is i never tried a peel-off mask, so why not?
pic from koreasnbymalaysia
this is the description from their website: a gentle yet effective peel off mask to lift impurities and dead skin cells to detoxify and clarify. this unique honey-textured treatment is formulated with solomonseal powder to absorb impurities. japanese honeysuckle hydrates, smooths, and brightens. powerful blend of korean medicinal herbs exfoliates and purifies for a clearer complexion.

the packaging: the full size version packaging is just like the picture above. the sample however, comes in a boring rectangle sachet, slightly lighter in color than the overnight vitalizing mask sample, but both still in golden brown hue. the sample is quite big compared to other samples from other brand, but again, i think that's because sulwhasoo is a luxury brand.. hahaa.. everything has to stand out.

the smell: most people said that the scent is similar to overnight vitalizing mask, that it has the ginseng scent that is so sulwhasoo. but i think it's stronger than the overnight. overnight's scent is quite subtle, so since it's a sleeping pack, i don't have trouble in sleeping with it since i don't smell it continuously. but the clarifying one, the scent is quite strong. even my husband can smell it when i use it. hahaha.. and it still lingers for the whole 20-30 minutes when i put it on my face.

the product: it's a golden brown thick cream, very sticky, so it's a little bit difficult to get it out the sachet and spread it on my face. the first time i tried it, i'm afraid of using it too much, so i only use probably half the sachet, and i end up using it too little that it won't come off as a peel off mask, i had to wash it off. and i didn't feel anything. the second time, i use the whole sachet, and it works perfectly. a little bit thin, but it covers my whole face. if you have bigger face than mine (like my husband), you will have to use more than one sachet. after spreading it to your face, then wait for 20-30 minutes and peel it off. oh, and warning: don't accidentally spread it on your eyebrows or your hair. make sure it's nowhere near hairy areas, or you will feel a little bit pain when you peel it off.

the result: oh, i can see why everyone is raving about it. the second time i use it, i have a going-to-heal acne, and it helps drying the acne completely. some said that it helps clean the pore, and i think it is. i can feel a little bit tickling feeling on my face when i wait for it to dry. after peeling it off, it doesn't dry my skin. the next morning, i can feel my skin softer. as for the brightening effect, i cannot see it. once again, being fair isn't fair sometimes, you can't judge the brightening effect from a product like this.

so, will i buy it again? probably yes as long as the samples are available (the full size is too expensive for me, after all it's not an everyday use-product, so samples are enough for me). will i recommend it? oh yes. try it. but if you think you can't deal with the scent, skip this. i do agree that this one is suitable for all skin types. oh, and don't use it if you're having an active acne, i bet it will hurt a lot when you peel it off. and i think if you put a dollop on your nose, i think it will work as nose strip when you peel it off. haven't tried it though. but if you have tried it, tell me..

i was browsing through my instagram when i stumbled upon a beauty account, and the owner had this video of her makeup routine. and i liked it. it's quite simple, and then i browsed her account. turned out she had this thing for cat eye. and suddenly i got the urge to copy her makeup. i tried to draw cat eye using my nyx, but somehow, it was okay for one eye and the other one it's dried out. i had to put the cap back and wait for a couple minute before continuing. i thought it was time to toss my eyeliner. and the other end of my nyx is broken anyway, and my loreal navy gel eyeliner is coming to an end as well, so i decided to get a new eyeliner. i want to try bbia one, but i'm not sure... and somehow i stumbled upon this tony moly. i remembered i had one of these from revlon back in my makeup beginner days and i don't know how to use it. it dried before i had the chance to find out my mistake. i hesitated if this one will dry out soon too, but watching good review from beauty bible and another instagrammer, i decided to get this. in black, because it's only available in black.

this is the description from sokoglam: get a gorgeous line with this smooth, rich formula. brush applicator makes it perfect for precise puppy dog eye look or elegant cat eye. stays the day with a water-and sweat-resistant formula.
pic from koreannoona
the packaging: it's in a plastic bottle with a black plastic screw top, with a brush inserted in the handle. it's really similar to revlon's only the revlon one is smaller. and the brush from revlon can be inserted back to the handle so it's longer to hold. but from the tony moly you have to grip the small brush because it can't be inserted back to the handle, so perhaps you might need a separate brush if you have big hand or dislike smaller brush, but for me since i don't own any eyeliner brush, i have to make it work.

the color payoff: i got the black one, and the color is quite intensive. strong black. in one stroke.

the formula: oh well, the revlon one is dried easily, even when i tried it, it crumbled slightly. but this one is creamier. it's soft, and easy to load on the brush, and then it gives a smooth line. it glides smoothly on my skin, even on my eyelid.

the staying power: i have an oily lid. any other eyeliner will smudge my eyelid even before i could walk out of my door. but this one, since it's gel, i have to give a little time for it to dry, but then it will hold strong. no smudge on my eyelid. but today i use eye primer, and it make it hold even longer. until i get back to my home, it's still there. and today is very hot, and usually it will melt all my makeup. so i think it's smudge-proof, and probably waterproof too. so you have to use separate eye and lip makeup remover or oil cleanser.

the brush: okay, since i don't own any eyeliner brush, this one is enough for me. the bristle is soft enough and it doesn't hurt my eyelid. although i must agree that this brush can't exactly control the thickness of the lines it produce. but since i'm asian, with monolid, i don't necessarily need a very thin line.

overall, i'm quite satisfied with this eyeliner, and if i can get my hand on the other color, perhaps i would buy the navy or brown one. oh, have i mentioned that it's quite cheap too? if you're a beginner in eyeliner world and don't want to spend on expensive eyeliner, try this. perhaps pencil can't make a perfect cat eye and liquid eyeliner is hard to control for your trembling hands, then this one might work for you. it works for me.. and i'll be satisfied with it for now. and i don't think it's suitable for tight-lining. i will still use a pencil one for it.

oh and about my previous mistake.. you're supposed to clean the brush after each use so there's no product excess on the brush. which was my mistake. i didn't clean my brush with my revlon one, so probably that's why it crumbled on me. and i experienced it with this one when i forgot to clean it a couple of times. so make sure you clean your brush after each use.

i'm sorry for not putting swatches blogpost soon enough. the weather has not been friendly these days. it's supposed to be dry season here in indonesia, but somehow, the rain has just catching up. usually it will rain during december to january, but the heavy rain just came on february. quite weird. perhaps it's time to start taking care of our earth. the weather shifting is clear. okay.. now let's move on to lipstick, ladies...

actually i've used this sample a few times, but every time i put it on my lips, i don't have enough time to take picture, so last sunday i managed to sneak and capture some pictures. from their website, sunny seoul is described as frosted light warm pink (cremesheen finish).

the color payoff: although it's not lustre finish, somehow light color is more difficult to swatch. i have to swipe a few times to make the color shown. using brush is even make it harder. it's said frosted, but it's not heavily frosted, it will give beautiful luminescence on your lips. and i have to agree this one is a warm pink, slightly warm enough to make me look yellow. on my hand it looks like peachy pink.

the lasting power: as usually, the one with lighter color always stay on for a couple hours, not more. this one probably stays on around 3 hours, but quickly vanish with eating and drinking.

the formula: cremesheen is comfortable to wear. creamy so it's easily removed, and not drying my lips. since it's creamy, i bet this one will finish quicker. 3 times using it and i've already hit my pan.

is this one a more suitable pink for me? if i use too little, it doesn't make me yellow, but the whole color won't show. but if i'm using enough, it makes me yellow. although i like peachy pink more than blue pink, i'm still considering this shade though. if i can't find any other pink lipstick that's more suitable for me, then probably i will get this one. but i think this one will suitable for most skin tone, perhaps darker skin tone will stay out of this one as this might not shown.

my dear hubby went to japan last month and as a wise wife, i want him to buy something that i will use, not some cute things he found there. so i compiled a list for him to buy. the must buy and nice to buy. and lucky him, he almost nailed it all. but all the essentials are bought though, so that's quite an achievement. and as a grateful wife, i intend to use them all. and to prove it, i suddenly feel the urge to pamper myself last week, and i don't feel like using my usual korean mask sheet, so i grabbed one from the packet from japan. and the lucky one is the lululun face mask white which is intended for brightening.

most of lululun face mask comes in two packaging, 7 sheets in one and the other is 42 masks in a box. quite a difference from korean one. the idea for the 7 sheets in one is to use one each day for the whole week. so, i intend to do it accordingly, every day for a week, hopefully i can see the result.
left: the box packaging
right: the 7 sheets packaging
this is the description from their website (please note that this is google-translated and i correct it the best i could, so it might be funny to read): to achieve a transparent skin, with vitamin c derivative and a plant extract combination. while firmly moisture, after usage you can feel your face smoother. vitamin c derivative and glycyrrhizin acid to achieve transparency skin. in addition, by blending a new component which is water gelatin, it will give fresh feeling and moisture in long lasting sense.
if you're curious about the ingredients, here they are: water, glycerin, propanediol, ascorbyl glucoside, panthenol, dipotassium glycyrrhizinate, hyaluronic acid Na, sorbitol fermentation polysaccharide, yoshino cherry tree leaf extract, evening primrose seed extract, hime fuuro extract, prune decomposition products, kiwi extract, plantago major seed extract, mandarin orange peel extract, PEG-0, hydrogenated castor oil, xanthan gum, citric acid, citric acid Na, hydroxide K, EDTA-2Na, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, BG.
now, i notice hyaluronic acid which is good for moisture, evening primrose is good for anti-inflammatory. and there are plenty of ingredients that suggest the vitamin c derivatice such as kiwi extract, citric acid, etc.

the packaging: hubby got me the 7 sheets one, so it's exactly like the right picture. it's in a white ziplock bag with all the 7 sheets in one bag. yep, no separates whatsoever, so you have to be careful to pick one of them since it's stacked altogether.

the smell: it doesn't smell like wet tissue, no alcohol scent, or perhaps it's there but it's not overpowering like sometimes happened with etude. it does remind me of wet tissue, but baby wipes. the one that usually come without alcohol.

the product: the fit is slightly smaller than etude's or innisfree's. especially on the forehead part. but on the chin and cheek, it's the same. the nose however slightly longer than two other brands and the eyes holes are smaller. probably to achieve more moisture on eyelid. now let's move on to the essence. since all the seven mask sheets are packaged inside a single bag without separation, all the essence are separated for all the 7 mask sheets. that's why the distribution is not similar from mask to mask. the first mask that i tried don't have enough essence that it dried out before 15 minutes. the second and third mask have enough essence to last around 15 minutes. the fourth one, i use again after a day break due to kids falling sick again, and again, it doesn't have enough essence. although i've already tried scraping some essence from the inside side of the bag to the mask, there's not enough essence left on the bag. unlike etude's and innisfree's, which sometimes there's excess essence to scrape. the fifth, sixth, and the last one have more essence since there's not so many crowd anymore.

the result: the first time i used it, nothing happened. like i don't use any mask sheet at all. it doesn't help to add moisture to my face. but the second and third day, i started to feel the moisture on my skin. the morning after i feel my skin more and more plumped. and more supple. but as for the brightening effect, i'm not the best person to see the effect. all i know my face is clearer (my acne scars started to fade away), but not a tone brighter in general. but as the day goes by, i don't feel anything else. it just adds moisture to my face but after a couple usages, so for some people it's a lot of time wasted. thankfully it doesn't break me out.

so, this one is probably perfect for travel, since it's easy to carry, 7 masks in a packet. but if you want something more instant, i suggest stay out of it. it doesn't give moist booster in one usage like most korean mask sheets. and probably for you who have dry skin, this one might not do you anything. i've read several disappointing reviews about this mask too, but since my husband is buying and he said it's cheap, so why not? hahaha.. but i have to admit though, this one give me the kick to be diligent on using my mask sheet daily. but i won't repurchase it though.
the 7-sheets mask packet

look at the fit, smaller eye holes but longer nose flap, shorter forehead area (one blogger mentioned that the lip area is bigger for her, but for me, it's a fit)

after finishing the whole package
this is another sample review, which i got from one of my haul, probably the tester korea one. i've tried the gold caviar serum, and the gold caviar collagen cream, so i'm glad i got a different sample of this line. this is the description from their english website: a collagen-enriched serum with russian caviar extract, pure gold particles, and collagen extract that fill up loose, deflated skin for a firmer, tighter complexion (cosmeceutical for wrinkle care).
pic from korea-fever.net
the packaging: the sachet comes in a boring square sachet. beware though about the color and make sure you read the english text of the product name. because this gold caviar and gold caviar collagen packaging is similar. the only difference is there's a purplish hue for the gold caviar collagen one. oh, and there's the new gold caviar collagen plus too.. makes it more confusing. but don't be afraid, all you have to do is make sure you read the english text of the product name. thank God it's in english.

the smell: at first i think it's smell fragrant, like floral.. but at the end i smell something a little bit fishy. but just a bit. but on my second usage, i think it's very very unnoticeable. once you put it on your face, i can't smell anything.

the product: oh, if you like luxurious thing or anything contains gold, then you'll like it. it's a clear serum, slightly viscous with gold flecks in it. once you applied it obviously the gold flecks will vanish. and then your skin will look luminous. oohhhh... oh it's a rich serum that it takes a few minutes to be absorbed.

the result: it's very moisturizing, so i think it will work for wrinkle prevention. but since one sachet only last me about 2-3 usages, i have no further say about it. although it's very moisturizing, it doesn't make my skin greasy the morning after.

unfortunately, i don't think i will get this one, since i've read someone said that other than hydration, it doesn't do anything else. and if i'm not mistaken, this line is considered the luxurious line from skinfood, so it's not cheap. so i don't think i will spend my money on something that only works for hydration. but if you like gold, try this serum. i think this will suit every skin types. even oily skin can use it, only at night. for dry skin, i think you need something more powerful than just this serum. but for me, i'll pass.
left: the sachet packaging (no english text aside from the product name)
right: the serum on my hand (look at the visible gold flecks)
i haven't told you guys yet that i've decided to change my usual moisturizer with the one from mizon. mostly because i want to try another option, the one that easier to get, without preorder. so i think mizon one is the closest option since there's an online seller that usually have the moisturizer ready-stocked. so, i decided to add this foam cleanser as backup as my usual etude's one is almost empty.

description from amazon: mild and soft cleanser that turns from snail mucus foam into soft bubble-like cream that provides deep pore cleansing for clear and moisturized skin. cleanses dirt, deep pores, dead skin, and rids of blackheads, sebum, and waste for clear, moisturized skin. contains snail secretion filtrate and botanical extracts such as green tea and absinthe that don't irritate the skin.
pic from snowwhiteandasianpear
the packaging: it's exactly just like the one in the picture. a brown with white flip top tube. and there's also a seal on the opening. just like most of korean products. they do take care of their packaging, and making sure the product doesn't leak is one of their concern. as for the size, since i'm using korean products, most of their facial foam comes in big sizes. this one only comes in 60 ml which is too little since i've been used to using big size product.

the smell: some bloggers mention that it smells floral, but i sniff it really hard. at first i do agree it seems have floral scent to it, but once i apply it on my face, the scent dissipates and rather smell not nice. if you understand javanese, i think the word "apek" is the appropriate word to describe it.

the product: it's a white foam with pearly appearance. makes it looks luxurious. and since there's the picture of it being slimy, i tried it too. and yes, it's sticky slimy. and one blogger said that you have to rub it on your hand with a little bit of water to make it lather up before using it on your face. and it does lather up nicely. forms a big bubble. but not as big as the advertisement picture. unless you're using a net or something else other than your hand. one blogger mentioned it has high pH, so if you're concern about the pH, then probably skip this one.

the result: i use this as my second cleanser or my morning cleanser, so i don't test for makeup cleansing. as for second cleanser, it's quite nice, no stripping clean feeling afterwards. since the previous snail product helps with acne, i can't help comparing the acne combat properties of this foam. when i first start using this foam, i suffered from hormonal acne from my birth control pills, and it doesn't help at all with the clearing up process. so i think the snail properties is different with the gel one.

will i repurchase? i don't think so. even though it's cheap, but it doesn't come in big size. even though one blogger said you only need a dime every single time, i think it will vanish quicker since there are two of us that use this foam. plus that "apek" smell, i don't think i'll ever be okay with that scent. so definitely won't buy it again, and if you don't like high pH cleanser, sticky cleanser, skip this one. you won't miss a thing.
the tube packaging
this is a toner part from a sample duo that i received as freebies from one of my tester korea haul. i've already reviewed the emulsion, but somehow i kept forgetting to use the toner, that's why i decided to get on with it since i'm on sample streak these days. if you're not familiar with missha, their famous products are their first essence which is basically a dupe for SK-II, and their advanced night repair serum (the latest one has borabit in their name, but it has a very long name, so it's kind of difficult to remember) which is also a dupe from estee lauder. but unfortunately the estee lauder one has gone formula-change while missha one is still the same. anyway, this geum-sul line is supposed to target aging skin.

pic from misshaus

this is the description from their website: jelly type premium oriental skin toner made with wild ginseng, deer antlers and reishi mushrooms enriched and extracted by gold and 100% ginseng water. a unique product made with wild ginseng, deer antlers and reishi mushroom fermented and extracted based on gold, the missha geumsul series will boost the effectiveness of skincare and remove any toxins from your skin. made with such noble ingredients, the missha geumsul series rejuvenates your skin and removes any impurities from your face. with missha geumsul, you will feel the innovative anti-aging functions and skin purification. contains 100% ginseng water instead of plain water, made with ginseng collected in geumsan, korea which is famous for the best quality of ginseng around the world. the ginseng water provides deep moisture into your skin.

the packaging: the toner itself is packaged as picture above. pretty.. and looks expensive. while the toner sample is packaged inside a small golden brown bottle with a screw top just like the emulsion. thankfully, the toner is on the runnier side, so i don't have problem getting the product out.

the smell: just like the emulsion, i can smell ginseng from this toner, but not as strong as sulwhasoo's, so it doesn't bother me at all.

the product: it's a clear toner. not runny like water, but not like jelly either. it's slightly more viscous than water but not that much. so i prefer using my bare hand applying this toner. it's absorbed quickly onto my skin and doesn't leave sticky feeling. and i don't think i found gold flecks in this one.

the result: oh well, somehow it doesn't work for me. for the first 3 days, it's kinda okay. i have to work out how to combine it in the morning though. if it's too hot, then i would skip my moisturizer and just use this toner and sunscreen (fyi, when i used this toner, i used mizon moisturizer, not my usual nature rep one). sometimes if it's tooooo hoooottt and humid, i can feel my skin becomes sticky a little bit. but at night, it combines perfectly with my other skincare arsenal. but after 3 days, my skin is starting to give me trouble. pimples show up. i thought it's just the breakout from the AHA that i'm using, but this one is worse. so i decided to stop the toner after a week usage (it hasn't emptied yet), and then after a couple of days my pimples stop showing.

so, definitely not for me. but i'm definitely sure that this one has moisturizing power, so for dry skin gals, aging skin, this one will help.
note: i'm so sorry, i just found out that i forgot to take the picture of the sample bottle, but it's really similar with the emulsion one, but different hangul text. so make sure you google it before using it.

the toner on my hand. no gold flecks visible
