  • About me
if you read my other post, then you might know that i was looking for another decent eye cream when i went to japan. there aren't many japanese eye creams that i found on people's haul, so i only bought this one and the sana one. both are rated as best sellers, so let's see which one is better. i tested both during the same period of time, one on the right eye and the other on the left. i used sana on my right eye and meishoku on left eye.

this is the description from cosme.com: rich in placental extract, this medicated eye cream offers both skin brightening and anti aging care. it features medicated skin brightening placenta that permeates deep into skin to prevent melanin production and promote luminous skin without any signs of blemishes or discoloration. collagen and job's tears extract act on the skin around the eyes and the lips. it provides elasticity and hydration, and promotes soft, hydrated, firm skin.

the packaging: it has similar packaging with sana one. it comes with a cardboard backings and plastic cover just like toothbrush packaging. the eye cream itself comes in a blue plastic tube with screw cap. it comes in regular eye cream size, which is 30 ml. it also has spout to dispense the product, although the opening of the tip is slightly bigger than sana one.

the scent: this is my first scented japanese product. it smells floral, but not too overpowering. i know that some of you might have different opinion against scent in eye cream, since it's a sensitive area, adding fragrance might trigger sensitivity. but, i like the smells. since i only use this at night, sometime i sniff it and feel relaxed. but don't worry, i can't smell it once i put it on my nose.

the product: it's a white cream. at first, i thought it is gel, but turns out it's a quite thick white cream. although it's thick, i can spread it on my skin pretty easy. afterward it leaves a film-like residue and it's sticky. as you can guess, it's thick so it takes quite some time to be absorbed. it takes even longer than sana. and that's why i only use it at night. once i tried using it daytime, and i had disaster putting my makeup over this eye cream. my powder foundation rolled on top of this eye cream. i had to wash my face and put everything back all over again.

the result: it's definitely moisturise my under eye skin. but i don't see any whitening effect. but if i use it in combination with petitfee eye patch, it's slightly brightening my under eye. although i think the result is more visible with sana. it's quite sad since it's labelled as whitening eye cream. as for the moisturizing properties, i have to say that the result isn't different much from the sana one.

overall, it's a nice eye cream for night time. but if you're looking for all day eye cream, i wouldn't suggest this one. it takes forever to sink in. but it doesn't just sit on top of my skin like my previous skinfood eye cream. this one does sink in at the end. compared to sana, this one is more expensive, but both delivers well. i can see that i can use this one at night and sana during the day. so, i have no recommendation since both works. but if you're concern about budget, then you can try sana one.

when i went to japan, i almost finish my secret key snail eye cream. and although i've used two tubes of it, i don't feel that it's enough for me. so i went to buy other eye cream. i bought two eye creams so i decided to try them both at the same time. one on left eye, and the other on my right. i used this one on my right eye.

this is the description from their website: highly moisturizing skin care product that contains retinol derivatives for hiding small wrinkles caused by dryness. apply one layer around the eyes and the mouth as needed. delivers moisture deep into the cornified layer and makes the skin supple from the inside. use for eyes and mouth.

the packaging: it comes with a cardboard backing like toothbrush packaging. the tube itself is gold yellow with screw cap. it has small spout tip to dispense the product.

the scent: another scentless product. i sniff pretty hard and i don't think i pick any scent.

the product: it's yellowish cream, more like gel in texture. it spreads easy and since it's slightly thick, it takes quite some time to be completely absorbed. afterwhile, it gives a feeling like there's a film residue on my skin and sticky feeling, but it is gone after it's being absorbed completely. since it's quite thick, i only need tiny bit for my eye, so even though this comes in 25 g (slightly less than usual eye cream), it will last quite some time.

the result: it's moisturizing alright, and i think i can use it at day, but during this testing time, i only use it at night. i don't notice any improvement in wrinkle area since i don't have any, but i think it will help to prevent any lines since it's very moisturizing. at first, i use it in combination with SNP aqua bird nest eye patch, and using both only add hydration. after i finish my SNP eye patch, i used this cream in combination with petitfee black pearl and gold eye patch. and i notice more brightening effect from this combination, though the brightening effect is temporary and it won't help much if i didn't get enough sleep.

so, since i'm testing two eye creams at the same time, i was torn because both delivers good result. both are moisturizing and i can feel the area around my eyes are moisturized better when using both eye creams than before. unfortunately, both doesn't help much with dark eyes. but both give brightening effect when used in combination with petitfee eye patch. but talking about price, sana is cheaper than the other one. as for me, i think i can use both. the sana one is not thick enough so i can use it in the afternoon or in the morning. and the other one at night only.

this is another piece from 6 piece mask set from peter thomas roth holiday set which hubby got me when he went to penang last year. he was grumpy since it was pretty expensive, but since he felt bad for me, he got it anyway. anyway, this is the third one that i tried and so far, the score is even. one is great, one is disappointing for me. so let's see about this one. (if you're wondering about the rose one, you can read it here)

this is the description from their website: this ultra gentle gel helps soothe, hydrate, and detoxify the look of dry, irritated skin with botanical extracts of cucumber, papaya, chamomile, pineapple, sugar maple, sugarcane, orange, lemon, bilberry and aloe vera. excellent for helping to calm and soothe the skin's appearance after sun exposure, peels, waxing, facials and extractions.

the packaging: since it's a 6 piece set, each mask comes in tiny tube, and it has color according to each type. for cucumber, it's green. and it's see-through so i can see the remaining mask inside. and i like how they seal the opening, just like korean, even though this is just a sample size.

the scent: okay, it doesn't smell like cucumber. i think it smells fragrant, floral perhaps, but subtle and dissipates when the mask is being applied on my face.

the product: the mask is a greenish transparent gel. and the texture is definitely like jelly. wiggly jelly. and it's easy to spread. but you have to apply it thick or it will dry out quickly. it's not sticky like freeman peeling gel. and the cooling effect is immediately upon applying. since it's gel, it takes more than the mud mask for one face, so i finish this quicker than the mud mask. about 4 times full face, but since sometimes i use it on my other part beside t-zone, then i get more uses than 4.

the result: there are two ways to use this mask, as wash off mask you have to apply this mask thickly and then wait for 5-10 minutes before washing it off. as sleeping pack, you apply it thinly and then leave it overnight and wash it the next morning. i only try this as wash off mask since i can't imagine myself putting this mask on my face overnight. although it's not as sticky as the rose one, but still.. i bet it will stick on my pillow case if i use this overnight. as wash off mask, it works well. i use it for about 40 minutes before washing it off, and it moisturise my skin moderately. it's soothing alright, and i think it slightly brighten my face. it also detox my skin. at first, i don't experience purging, but after a while and i start using it again, i get this one blemish on my nose.

honestly, i like this better than the rose one. it's hydrating and soothing my face. and it isn't as sticky as the rose one, so i think you can use it as sleeping pack easily. as for me, i like to use it as wash off. it's easy to slather and wash off. and i like how it soothe my face. overall, this is a win for me. but considering the price, i won't buy the full size. but if you want to splurge, then go for it. it works!

as you all know, i haven't found a mascara that i really really love. i seldom repurchase my mascara and always try something new. though i've probably mentioned that i like the max factor and loreal butterfly mascara, but i want to try something else. and there's this etude house mascara.. their 3 step is interesting.. so i search and mostly bloggers review the etude house lash perm 3 step volumecara one.. but i have pretty thick lashes, so i don't need the volume only.. that's why i'm interested more in the volumecara & curling one.

this is the description i found in en.koreadepart.com: volume & curling mascara that 360 degree wing eye lashes which stretches like flying creates big and sharp eye look. applies wide-wing system to highlight every eye lash without lump and remain rich and spectacular curve. deep and rich extreme black color creates vivid and sharp eye look. contains light powder like downy hair to remain firm curling without slack for hours. black complex creates shining and strong eye lashes.
how to use: turn the container in order of step 1 --> step 2 --> step 3.
step 1: move a flat side with content in zigzagging move and lift volume up.
step 2: fit hollow part of brush to the root of eye lashes and lift powerfully for curling up.
step 3: hold perpendicularly and touch in zigzagging move lightly to create much bigger and sharper eye look.

note: i'm so sorry for the long due. i haven't got the chance to take proper picture of this mascara. i've used it couple times and i can't seem to get hang of it. so this time i pushed myself to take some picture just to get it done. let me remind you that i have this for awhile. but the formula didn't get any drier than before.

the packaging: since it's quite some time, i already lost the box. all i can remember it has the same color as the mascara tube, which is yellow and black. the other version is pink. so it makes it easier to differentiate between them. there's also instruction and picture about how to use it at the back of the box. in english too. yay! the mascara tube is plastic, yellow and black. the yellow part is the part where you can twist the body to change the step, from 1 to 3. there's a "stop" indicator at the lower part of the body.

the color: mine is black and it's very dark black. very intense.

the product: the formula is on the wet side. it's very wet when i got it the first time that i had difficulty using it. it will smudge all over my eyes area, and it's very hard to keep my eyes open all the time during waiting time. but as time goes by, it gets slightly drier. but it doesn't get any more drier than that, which is weird. the wand has a curve shape, with shorter bristles on the hollow part. now, i might be wrong, but lately i observe it more and i think it has fibers in them so it will add volume to eyelashes. the more you twist the wand, the fuller the bristles, or so i thought.

the result: since the formula is wet, it's very easy to smudge and clump. on the first step, i immediately notice the added length and volume to my eyelashes. with the second step, it gets slightly curled (i don't use any eyelash curler). but it clumps easily. and with the third step, i get the spider lashes. seriously, it's hard to achieve the fuller look without clump since the formula is wet. and even though this one isn't waterproof, cleaning it is still troublesome. you have to use separate eye makeup remover before using cleansing oil or cleansing water to completely remove the mascara.

definitely a good mascara, it delivers the promise to add volume and curl, but the formula is not to my liking. it keeps making my lashes clump together. i think it will work better if you have sparse eyelashes. or you already have long eyelashes. but not on me. and i don't test the durability of this mascara. but it doesn't flake on me. would i repurchase? no. would i recommend it? not really. but considering this is my first asian/korean mascara, i think i will try another mascara from other korean brand too. it seems promising.

okay i know i still have my gel eyeliners from bbia and tony moly, but that didn't stop me from buying more eyeliner. i have to try some famous japan eyeliners. so i grab the one that has the cosme best sellers sticker on them. actually there are dolly wink and one other brand, but i decided to try k-palette first. and although the famous one is their black shade, i bought the brown one since my bbia gel eyeliner which is also in brown, is almost finished and starting to dry.

this is the description from jpcosme.com: designed to stay smudge-proof and tear-resistant throughout busy days and nights, this cutting edge formula applies smoothly and dries quickly, producing a weightless, lasting finish that is predictably worry-free. packaged with k-palette's patented micro-fibre brush for precise application. benefits: smudge-proof and tear-resistant formula, one of japan's top selling eyeliner, easy to use for quick morning touch-ups and dramatic evening looks, patented micro-fibre brush for precise control, does not penetrate your skin.

the packaging: it comes in a plastic bag with a small booklet inside. everything at the back is in japanese, but luckily they write the shade name in english (unlike other products that even the shade name is in japanese, which is troublesome since i have to google it). the eyeliner itself comes in pen shape. each one has the color of the shade. since i bought the deep brown one, the pen also comes in brown.

the color: mine is deep brown, which is basically brown. and i have to say i'm quite disappointed since i thought it will be like dark brown, but it's more like reddish brown. too light for my preference. on my lid though, it's darker than my hand swatch but it's still brown. so it's suitable for daily use. not too dark and not too light.

the product: the applicator, at one glance, looks like felt tip. but when i swatch it, i was surprised since it was brush! and i have to say the brush is amazing. even though it's not super rigid like liquid liner brushes, it maintains its form when being used. since it's a brush, it's easy to draw line in various thickness, from thin to thick. fyi, there are 4 shades available, super black, black, brown black and deep brown. mine is deep brown.

the result: at first, i was confuse. there's a picture at the back that gives illustration about the eyeliner. there's also a text saying "shut out" and "easy off". i was confuse what that means. then i found out that this eyeliner is waterproof but easy to wash off. quite contradictory right? turns out, it means that after it's being set or dry, it's supposed to be smudge proof or waterproof. even though you cry or splash your face, the eyeliner won't budge. but you don't need separate eye makeup remover to wash this eyeliner. just warm water will do. when i tested it, i didn't wait for it to dry and i smudged it. on my lid too. you have to be careful. don't open your eyes unless it's dried or it will smudge on your lid. especially if you have oily lid. but once it's set, it will be long lasting. i use it for about 7 hours and it's still there. even though i didn't use any makeup primer or eyeshadows. so naturally using primer or eyeshadow (especially the powder one) underneath will make it more long lasting.

so definitely love it! in fact, i don't think i'll ever go back to gel pencil eyeliner again. this one is super easy to use, even for every daily use. i can use it to line my upper eyeline easily, and draw kitten eye, cat eye.. super easy. plus it comes in brown which turns out to be perfect for daily use. beginner, if you feel you can't use liquid liner, try this and it will change your mind. i definitely will repurchase along with other brand too.. this might be my favorite for now, but perhaps trying others might change my mind. so i have to try the other too to be sure. unfortunately, i can only get it if i went to japan or bought it online. and online shops tend to sell a little bit expensive. so definitely will grab more when i go to japan again.
