  • About me
i can't believe i haven't written anything about this product yet. we were visiting finland and it never across my mind that i could buy something there. but then the tour guide gave us some recommendation as he dropped as to the shopping center, and one of them was a beauty brand. i never heard of the brand before, but apparently it was quite big in finland, so obviously i became curious. however, based on my experience, i have to be careful to choose what to buy. since finland is very cold and quite the opposite of my country, their products must be created to cater toward the need to fight dryness due to cold weather. meanwhile, here is hot and humid, so i have to be careful in selecting which product to buy. at the end, i bought a face mist that can act as toner (which i have reviewed) and this moisturizer. in my defense, at that time i only brought my emulsion, which is clearly couldn't cut it for winter weather. so i needed something thicker, but not to thick that i couldn't continue using at home. so, the day cream.

this is the description i find on one website: the day cream intended for all skin types moisturizes ideally, absorbs quickly and leaves the skin looking fresh and healthy. the unique combination, which contains northern wool and pure northern spring water, moisturizes, protects and nourishes the skin, making it look beautiful and healthy. we are proud that our products are manufactured in finland, favoring pure and effective, natural raw materials.

the packaging: since i bought it in some store, not in the big department store counter, there's no box. it comes in a white plastic squeeze tube with description at the back in finnish and english. there's a certain color combination for their collection, like i spotted orange for products with vitamin c, and purple for anti aging, but i can't say for sure for this day cream. it does have a blue label which is similar to their hydrating line, but i can't say. especially since they don't have this product anymore in their products line up in the website. anyway, the tube makes it look like a face wash packaging rather than a moisturizer packaging. despite all that, i don't have any problem with the packaging. it comes in 50 ml which is a regular size for a full size moisturizer.
the tube
the scent: it smells fresh. but not like sea fresh. more like snowy mountain vibe? anyway, the scent is so subtle that i barely think that it's there.
description at the back
the product: it's a snowy white cream moisturizer. it's rather thick compared to my usual day moisturizer, which is mostly gel type moisturizer. but it's still easy to spread around and it doesn't take much time to be absorbed. since this is on the thick side, i don't need much. but sometime i like to lather more if the weather is too cold.
the opening
the result: i have to say that it's moisturizing and a bit rich compared to my usual day time moisturizer. however, it's exactly what i need to conquer the cold weather. it's not super rich that it weighs down my skin in the morning, but it's not too lightweight that it can't fight the cold and harsh weather. up until now, i always bring this with me every time i travel toward colder country, even though it's not winter yet. and so far, it always works great for my skin.
how it looks like on my hand
how it gives a bit glow
i do love this one. it's moisturizing but not too heavy for my skin in the morning. but it still enough to fight cold weather. i totally forgot how much does this cost, but i don't think it's considered high-end. but i don't seem to find this brand anywhere aside from finland, so it'll be hard to find this one again. obviously in that case, i can't repurchase this one, but i do like it. however, since they've removed this product from their website, i don't know whether this particular product is still available or not. or maybe they have renewed it? or change the name and the formula? oh well, i might know the truth, but if you happen to visit finland and want to buy some beauty products, maybe you should give them a try. they have skincare and makeup products as well so you should find something interesting.
when i knew that i was going to the US, i made up a list. a very long list of stuff that i wanted to buy in the US. and it kept growing every time i watched more review videos. at the end, i realize that i only have one face and i don't have anyone else around me that shares the same interest, hence narrowing down my list. i decided to get stuff that i can't get my hands on outside the US. for base makeup, at first i had rare beauty, summer friday and tower28 in my list, but at the end, i decided that i still can get the rare beauty in singapore and the summer friday looks very sheer, so tower28 it is. luckily, in SF (the first city that i went), the sephora there was pretty complete so i got almost everything that i wanted in one go. now, at first i brought my nars with me, but somehow it doesn't give the result that i wanted. it ended up cracking a lot. so i thought, why not give this tower28 a try? even until i went back home, i was curious about how this one will hold up under different climate, so i continue wearing this even at home.

this is the description from their website: a 2-in-1 mineral sunscreen with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30 protection and light-medium coverage. sunnydays evens redness and soothes uv-stressed skin while maintaining a natural finish so your freckles, moles, and real skin can have their moment in the sun! designed for problem/sensitive skin. extra exciting! sunnydays has the national eczema association's seal of acceptance. sunnydays is safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin. alcohol-free, fragrance-free, safe for sensitive/problem skin. dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic, gluten-free, vegan+ cruelty free. 14 flexible shades with light-medium buildable coverage and natural finish. no white cast or oxidation.

ingredient highlights:
- non-nano zinc oxide: 100% mineral sunscreen filter to help protect from UVA/UVB damage and suitable for sensitive skin.
+ protective and supportive ingredients sourced from california deserts where they thrive in extreme climates.
prickly pears: reparative + skin softening
aloe vera: soothes and calms UV stressed skin

15 melrose - light with warm undertones
the tube
the packaging: it comes in their trademark color combination box, light purple and yellow. you can see the shade name on top of the box. the tinted sunscreen comes in the same light purple color like the box with transparent plastic spout and transparent plastic screw cap to secure the spout. there's description at the back of the tube as well as the box. you can read the shade name at the back of the tube. it's not easy to read the shade name, so it's a bit troublesome if you have several shades. it comes in 30 ml which is the usual amount of foundation in the market.
how it looks like on my hand
the shades: there are 14 shades to choose from, mine is 15 melrose. judging from the description it's a bit weird since there's no cool option. there's yellow and neutral, but not cool. instead, it's warm. looking at the swatches' pictures, i guess my match would be either 10 or 15. when in store, 10 is too yellow for me and 15 is a match to my face. however, my face is a tad too dark from the rest of my body, which is a bit tricky. on daily, it will be okay. but if i wear sleeveless clothes or else, the difference will be visible.
a little update: my skin condition is getting better than when i first tested this product, so now, the difference in color and tone is clearly seen. it's clearly darker than my neck and a tad too pink.
how it looks like on my hand. you can see that it blends well with my skin
the product: the tinted sunscreen is just like other tinted products. it's quite runny compared to the usual foundation, but probably similar to nars light reflecting foundation. since it uses spout to dispense the product, it's a bit hard to control the amount since the tinted sunscreen can still come out even though i don't squeeze the tube. thus, it messes up the tip of the spout and the cap when i put the cap back in.
top left: before
bottom left: look how it seems to disappear on my cheek
right: half-half on my face
the result: since this is a tinted product, obviously it doesn't give much coverage. it's light to medium at best. it can be layered, but i don't think it will make it full coverage. it gives glowy finish, but not as glowy as the nars light reflecting foundation. maybe a bit more than satin finish? anyway, i like how it make my skin still looks like my skin but a bit better. it covers up the redness and make it more even but it doesn't cover my acne scar. but that's what concealer is for, right? anyway, during my trip in the US, i used brush to blend it but perhaps it's the brush.. it left streak marks so i have to pat it down with puff sponge. back home, i use my real techniques sponge and it blends it in a blink of an eye. unfortunately, the sponge absorbed lots of product. you can use your finger to blend it, of course, but i don't like quite like using my finger to blend it.

shortly, i love this product! it's perfect for daily. lately, this caters my preference. something lightweight, not dead matte and gives enough coverage but still let my skin shows through. the shade is okay for me as well (update: i will definitely find other shades that suits me better than this one). unfortunately, tower28 is not available here. not even in singapore, i think. you can get them through preorder sellers, but the price will be much more expensive. price wise, it's pricey for a tinted sunscreen, but luckily it works well, so i guess it worths the money. however, if you prefer something with more coverage or you have an oily skin, then you should try other stuff since this one is quite lightweight and might look a bit oily on oily skin. especially when it's hot and humid. as for me, i will try to finish this one before considering anything. i might not repurchase because i might be attracted to something else when i finish this.
as i've said numerous times, i rarely buy single product from one brand. so when i saw kleveru had released several products that i haven't tried, naturally i wanted to try it. so i bought the rhodiola moisturizer and their new sunscreen. talking about the sunscreen, it was a bit silly. at first, i was eyeing the amaterasun sunscreen, the transparent one. but i was torn since i have good experience with kleveru, so i decided to buy kleveru first. however, when i was about to go to bali, i thought i bought the transparent one so i grabbed kleveru and brought it with me. when i used it, imagine my surprise to find that it's not transparent and realized that i haven't bought the transparent one. silly me. anyway, i've bought the amaterasun, so expect the review in a few months. for now, let's talk about the kleveru sunscreen.

this is the description on their website: first in indonesia! sunscreen with L-ergothioneine (EGT) complex. ergothioneine functions to protect skin from UV ray and provide fresh and cooling sensation, keeping your skin cool and comfortable all day. ergo soothe and fresh sunscreen is a watery milky gel sunscreen with 11 active ingredients to protect skin from UVA and UVB sun exposure (SPF 50+ PA++++). formulated with fresh and cooling sensation which cool, refresh, and soothe reddish skin as well as high antioxidants with light texture that quickly absorbed.

the packaging: i don't think it comes in any box. if there is one, i'm sorry since i've forgotten about it. they do seal the tube though, so rest assure that it will be safe during transport. the sunscreen comes in a white plastic squeeze tube with blue accent. there's description on the back but nothing about the packaging. they use flip top which is highly appreciated. now.. let's move on onto the important part. they didn't put any instructions about how to use the sunscreen on it. so when i looked closely, i saw that there's a tall part between the body and the flip top, which is weird. i can twist the top part open to remove the sealing on the inside opening, but then, i don't see any hole when i open the cap. i thought it was a faulty, but then my husband told me to google it. turns out, i have to twist that tall part body to reveal the opening! and then you can squeeze the sunscreen out. actually, if you see their website, there's a reason behind it. if you squeeze the sunscreen until it covers all part of the top, you will get approximately 1,25 ml, which is the suggestion amount for sunscreen usage. so basically, it will help you to make sure you use enough sunscreen. it comes in 50 g which is not a lot for a suncreen.
the bottle
the scent: honestly, i forgot. but i think it has subtle scent. like floral or something. but it's very subtle.
left: no hole
right: after twist the tall blue part, the hole will appear
the product: it's a white creamy sunscreen that's leaning toward lotion-like in texture. so like a thick lotion? i can feel a bit of gel feeling in it. so it's not your typical thick creamy sunscreen. you can spread it around easily. i have no problem reaching the target with this sunscreen. it's quick absorbing as well.
how it looks like on my hand
the result: this one doesn't leave white cast, but as i always say, i'm quite fair to begin with, so make sure to check other people's reviews, especially from darker skin gals if you have dark skin tone. i do feel the cooling sensation, however, it's not always there. the first time i notice it is when i first using it. i can feel the slight cooling sensation. but i never experience it when i use this to reapply. i use this sunscreen when i was in bali and it works well. i don't experience any sunburn on parts when i remember to apply diligently (i rarely use sleeveless tops, so i got sunburn on my back where my hand can't reach and i forgot to apply the sunscreen there). however, this is the first sunscreen that melts into my eyes and it stings! i use this to reapply, but it was so hot that i was sweating like crazy. and i can feel the sunscreen melting and somehow, it was able to go through my eyelashes and boy.. it stings like hell! so yeah, be careful if you're sensitive since it might sting your eyes. this sunscreen also gives serious glow so if you're on the oily side, you might want to set your makeup so it will last throughout the day.
look at the glow!
to be honest, i do like this sunscreen. it's lightweight and enjoyable to use. the size is quite small so it's travel friendly. more over with the twisting head, it makes it even more secure to bring it everywhere. i have no problem reapplying this and even though i use makeup on top of this sunscreen, as long as i've set it with powder, i have no problem with it. i do think it's suitable for all skin types, but if you're on the oily side, you might want to set this with powder. and if you're sensitive, you need to be careful as it might melt and sting your eyes. since kleveru is a local brand, it's easy to find it here and it's super affordable. as for me, i'm on the verge. i do like this, but it hurts my eyes so i will put this in my maybe list.
in my japan/korean shopping list, of course one category that has the longest list is sunscreen. and since i use it pretty much every day, and sometimes even twice a day (i workout in the morning, so i usually redo everything again after showering, thus twice uses in the same morning), i don't bother limiting it. however, i do keep in my mind about the possibility of it being too heavy for my preference or the weather back home, so if there's a tester, i would try it on my hand to see whether i like the consistency or not. anyway, the roundlab was pretty popular back then, so even the tester was empty. there was the sensitive version that was being marketed at that time, but i remember i don't like the texture so i didn't get it. and then when i walked around, i spotted the sunscreen, tucked in the men section so i grabbed it. it was a set. the full size sunscreen with a bonus of something else. mind you, everything is in hangeul, so i don't know what the bonus is. i thought it was a mini sunscreen, but turned out it is not. but let's keep that story for another post. for now, let's talk about the sunscreen.

this is the description from their website: a moisturizing sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV and replenishes and hydrates your skin. protects skin from harmful UV rays (UVA, UVB, bluelight) with SPF 50+ PA++++.
no white cast, hydration lock, easy layering, easy to blend, UV protection, for sensitive skin.
the box
key ingredients:
- birch tree sap nourishes skin by decreasing inflammation, purifies and hydrates with its extensive minerals, enzymes, proteins and antioxidants.
- amino acids, minerals and birch sap vitamins form a moisture-packed barrier to protect skin from drying and prevent loss of hydration.
- a hydrating sunscreen that does double duty as a moisturizer, for all skin types.
on the side you can see that there's a mini bonus
the packaging: as i've said before, i bought this as a set. so this sunscreen comes in a box with the picture of the sunscreen at front with all the awards that the sunscreen had won. there are a lot of description in korean. and then, on the side, there's this picture that shows that there's a mini bonus. however, i didn't notice it earlier that the hangeul was different. since the design is similar, i thought it's a mini sunscreen, but turns out it isn't. it's a cleansing foam if the google translate works fine. the sunscreen comes in a white plastic squeeze tube with a white plastic screw cap. yep. screw cap. not a good way to close a sunscreen since it's one thing that i use a lot. screw cap is not that user friendly for a sunscreen, in my opinion. there's another description at the back of the tube. the sunscreen comes in 50 ml. there's an aluminum foil covering the opening at first. the opening size is as big as the one in cleansing wash. again, my only problem with the packaging is the screw cap. probably a flip top would be a better option.
look how similar they are! but if you notice closer, the hangeul is different
the scent: i believe this is unscented, but it doesn't have that distinctive scent that most sunscreens have either.
the tube
the product: it's a white cream sunscreen, which close to lotion in texture, if you're asking me. it's quite runny so it's easy to squirt out of the tube and spread it around. since it is close to lotion in texture, it's quite lightweight so i have no problem using three fingers amount for my whole face and neck. okay, now, for the part that most people don't talk about. i feel it stings my eyes when somehow, one day, i was sweating crazily and i accidentally ran my hand over my eyelids and seconds later, it stung! geez.. this is probably the second sunscreen that do that to me.
right: the seal
left: after being opened
the result: even though it's lotion like and lightweight, right after spreading it around, i can totally feel that this one is moisturizing. it doesn't need extra work to blend it and there'a no white cast either. however, i'm fair to begin with, so if you have darker skin tone, you might want to check the tester or read other people reviews. i do agree that this is moisturizing and works well even if you have acne. so, it really serves the promises as it's easy to blend, easy to layer as well. it gives slight glow and since this is moisturizing, if you wear makeup on top of this sunscreen, you might want to set your face with powder to ensure its lasting power.
left: how it looks like on my hand
right: after blending it
i can see why this sunscreen is viral as this is moisturizing and good for sensitive skin as well. i do think it can work for all skin types, but i think it'll work better for those who has normal to dry skin or live in cold weather as this is on the moisturizing side. for me, if the weather isn't crazily hot, it stays okay. but if it's too hot, i can feel this sunscreen is slipping off my face. and it stings my eyes as well. anyway, if you can get this, totally give it a try since it worths it. but since roundlab isn't available here yet, i think you don't need to go out of your way to try this as i believe there are local brand sunscreen that gives the same feeling as this one. as for me, totally will repurchase if i can, but maybe my favorite among korean sunscreen that i've tried so far is the tocobo and numbuzin one.
