the body shop british rose fresh plumping mask

hubby was out of town couple days ago and then he offered me to buy something since he left me with 3 kids. although i had help, but i have to deal with them myself on both nap time and night time. and dealing with two toddlers are not easy. so he wanted to gift myself with something nice. and i asked him about his mobile service point reward, and he got a lot left. we can trade the points with some voucher for body shop, so i asked him to trade his points with the voucher and bought me some body butter or mask. and he got me the christmas edition body butters and the british rose mask. although i was hoping he could get his hand on the ginseng one. oh well, hopefully i can trade mine and buy that one myself.

the body shop was recently launched 5 variants of wash-off masks. all of them are vegetarian, and 3 of them are completely vegan. each mask is designated for each skin problem. the british rose is for plumping and hydrating, the honey one is for nourishing, the himalayan charcoal is for sebum and pore problem, the ginseng one is for brightening and the acai one is for radiance.

this is the complete description from their website: grow your glow with our british rose fresh plumping mask. inspired by the european bathing rituals, our 100% vegan refreshing gel face mask is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and organic community trade aloe vera. and what's more, it's formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. reveal skin that's replenished with moisture and visibly smooth with a youthful dewy appearance. perfect used with our facial mask brush, it makes for the most beautiful facial at home experience.

the packaging: it comes in big glass jar with screw top. since it comes in glass jar, it becomes heavy. and since it's heavy, it's not travel-friendly. and it doesn't have any spatula or anything to scoop the mask out. so you have to use your finger or your own brush. if you're using your finger, you'll end up risking the whole jar to be contaminated and it will ruin the mask faster since it's 100% vegetarian.

the scent: if you're sensitive to fragrance and cannot spend more than 5 minutes with heavily-scented mask, then i suggest you step away from this mask. it has strong scent. very fragrance. many said that it's the scent of the rose, but since i'm not familiar with flowers, i cannot confirm that. all i can say that it's very fragrant for my nose.

the product: the mask is a jelly-type mask, it will wiggle when you shake the jar. and from the first look, it looks like a strawberry jam. i was hoping to see a pink jelly, but it's more like a rose-brown color. the description mentions about rose petals in the mask, but all i can see is a reddish-pink speck. i can't say if it's rose petals or not. since it's jelly-like, it's easy to scoop out of the jar, but if you take a lot of mask in one stroke, it will spill back into the jar before you can put it on your face. and  i don't know how much product you should put on your face, all i can say if you put a lot of product near the edge of your face, it will slide down slightly like slime. probably since i don't put a lot of stuff around the edge of my face, the cheek and chin part are dry after 10 minutes. i think this kind of mask are not supposed to be dry. but probably i don't put enough mask on my face. it's easy to wash off since it's a gel mask, but using washcloth will make it easier. on the next application, i use brush, and it makes it easier. and i put quite a lot and it didn't get dry.

the result: at first, i don't feel anything, it doesn't give my hydration. i just feel that my skin is just like before. nothing's special. then after quite some time, probably around 5 times using this mask, i started to feel that my skin is softer after using this mask. and more supple. oh, and i once use this mask and then i feel burning or tingling sensation. i don't know what caused this, and fortunately it didn't irritate my skin.

so, i think this mask is overpriced. seriously. i can get the same hydration and plump from cheap innisfree capsule recipe pack. but i'm not saying this mask is a waste. it's okay, but not special. not worth the price, if you're asking me. but it's nice. after all, i never had another mask like this, so it will be a good combination when i use clay mask since i only use clay mask on t-zone. so this is a great mask to multimask with. and i intend to use this up as fast as i can since i want to stack on innisfree one again. have you tried these masks from body shop? which one is your favorite? although i'm not quite impressed with this rose mask, i still want to try their famous ginseng one, but when i looked at the stores near my house, it's still sold out, so let's just wait...
