  • About me
i had to admit, i had developed my craving toward lipstick lately.. i was more a gloss or a sheer color girl in my first attempt in makeup world. but since i was pregnant and then going back to school, not to mention that it was a management school.. i was bored and depressed and then shifted my anxiousness and desperation to makeup world, and hence, lipstick. my first big lipstick haul was revlon colorburst lip butter, which i loved so much. and it was a good way to begin my adventure in the lipstick world. and right now i was craving toward nyx round lipstick but i had to finish some of my lip butters first.
about the shade, mostly i bought wearable shade, but i also bought something that was higly recommended in some beauty blogs. that's why i had some pretty vibrant color in my collection.

but lately, i was toward red lippies. i never bought one and never wore one. i had pretty fair skin, so bold color like red was very eye-catching, that's why i had to find the right one. one of my lip butter shade was cherry tart, which was a good start for red lippies beginner. the color pay off was good, but it was subtle so it was wearable for daily use. but now i wanted something bolder. but i was afraid that it would be too much and then not wearable, thus useless. i browsed a lot, and since i had to postponed my nyx lipstick haul, i chose to buy something from revlon or maybelline. and i browsed a lot and i was toward revlon fire & ice or certainly red, or cherries in the snow. but i only found certainly red or love that red. i asked the BA about which one to choose, and she advised me to pick certainly red, which was blue based and more popular. so then, my pick to certainly red.

packaging : certainly red was belong to revlon superlustrous lipstick range, so the packaging was a black tube with a transparent cap and a gold belt with revlon name on it. they also had the number and name of the lipstick at the bottom.
color : when i swatched at my hand, it was a red. i didn't know how to distinguish between blue based or orange based on hand swatch. but when i swatched it on my lips, i could tell that certainly red was a blue based. and it was bold enough. just one swipe is enough. but probably i won't wear it straight from the tube since it could get messy. when i try to apply it with brush, the color wasn't as bold as when it was applied directly from the tube.
finish : certainly red was categorized within the creme finish family. when it was applied directly from the tube, it was creamier than with brush. and i noticed when it was set, it was matte.
performance : it was pretty long lasting compared to other superlustrous lipstick that i had. even with eating and drinking, the color was stay put.

overall, i was pretty please with my first red lipstick. i still collected my gut to wear it day and night. hahahahaa..

okay.. i was not supposed to buy any more lippies since i wanted nyx badly.. but i was bored, and tired and anxious about my thesis, so i got the urge to buy some red lippies. yep.. so not me. but i did buy it... well, thankfully there was a party this weekend so i got the chance to use it. hahha.. talking about excuses..

i did read about revlon new lipgloss packaging. and there were several shades, but the one that caught in my mind was fatal apple. it was a bright red lipgloss. i read that the color payoff was good, so i chose it without thinking.

what they said about it:
revlon new superlustrous lipgloss is a silky gloss that boosts hydration and plumps lips with moisture for a colorful glamorous shine. it had mild non-sticky formula with shiny gorgeous color. it contained vitamen e and avocado oil for non sticky moisture. non irritated formula gives fuller lips. with light-reflecting liquishine complex, contained abyssinia natural oil, gives a shiny gloss. new petal applicator for more comfortable application.
they got 12 new shades: fuchsia finery, sugar violet, pink pop, fatal apple, pango peach, raisin rage, rosy future, pinkissimo, super natural, and say it with rubies.

the new package: it was a round tube. pretty chunky compared to the old packaging. but the BA said that the volume was the same.
the applicator: it was a reguler slanted shape applicator, nothing new.
the color : fatal apple was a bright red gloss. it did show off the color. even without lipstick underneath. pretty vibrant and it was a good choice for red lippies beginner.
the lasting power : what can i say about gloss? it vanished with eating, drinking, and everything else.. so don't forget to bring yours everywhere you go.
the feeling : well, like all glosses, it did feel a little bit sticky.. but better than smashbox. it didn't have any spesific smell. (which was good since i hate the smell of smashbox glosses, which kind of like medicine smell).

so far, i didn't have any complaint about it. i could use it when i was lazy to put up some lipstick and still looked great.
will i buy it again? well.. i still gonna fulfil my nyx cravings first, then we'll see...but if i do buy them again, i'm going to buy pink pop or pinkissimo, pango peach, and probably super natural or rosy future.

i was bored and exhausted this week. i had a pre proposal exam next wednesday and i had difficulties with my lecturer since they were sooooo busy and one of them was moody, so it was hard to consult them. but i decided to make a quick stop at the drugstore just to try something new. i read about revlon's new family member, the superlustrous shine lipstick and the new package of superlustrous lipgloss.

the superlustrous shine lipstick : i read there were 9 new shades.. so far i only knew pink incognito, pink sky, pink sizzle (which i finally bought), lovers corals, raisin rage, rich girl red, and honey someting.. (i forgot the complete name). pink incognito was a pretty transparent lipstick, just like a clear gloss when i swatched it. i gave it a pass right away. pink sky was a blue based pink, which would make my lips looked blue and my face looked like i was icy cold, another pass for me. kiss of corals (or kiss me corals? i forgot..) was a pretty orange shade, but since i was deceived by tutti frutti, i didn't want to make the same mistake. i gave it a pass, but probably if i dumped tutti frutti, i probably would bought it. pink sizzle was another story, it was a pretty pink. it was a love at first sight. when i tried to swatch it on my lips, it glided smoothly, but at one swipe, there were barely noticeable. after 2-3 swipe the color came off pretty. it was an everyday pink color, suitable for fair skin i guess.. i didn't swatch rich girl red, and there were no raisin rage here. while the honey something was supposed to be a nude color, since i had a bad experience with soft nude, i passed it too.

more about revlon superlustrous lipstick. it has several finishes, creme, matte, shine, and frost. the new range was from shine finishes.
packaging : it was a sleek black tube with gold stripe in the middle. the cap had a transparant viewing window on top so you could see the color of the lipstick. and at the bottom there's a sticker that notify the number, name of the lipstick, finish, and the sticker base color also indicating the lipstick color. i liked their name, but since this superlustrous had a HUGE range of shades, they had number on it, and it was hard to remember serial number *sigh* but they put the number bigger than the name, so it was hard to find the name. but it was just me...

application : the lipstick form was ordinary, so i had no difficulties applying it. it glided smoothly. but some need a few swipe to show the color.

though they said that it was moisturizing, but it was a bit drying for me. i had to apply lip balm first. the lip butter was more moisturizing.

staying power : i never count the staying power, but the superlustrous last longer than lip butter. but it vanished with eating and drinking. but i noticed yesterday that pink sizzle left a lining on my lips. yaikss..

so far i like my pink sizzle. it was moisturizing, a little bit like revlon colorburst lip butter, but a bit drying after the color went off. pretty strange. it was like a reminder that you were wearing something earlier, but now it's gone and you had to reapply it! for Rp. 33.000,- a tube, i wouldn't mind going back for more... *drooling* but i had to finish what i have.. i really had a bad craving for nyx round lipstick.. but i had to resist the urge a bit further. *sigh* but right now, the revlon new lippies would suppress my craving just enough. until then..

i will review the gloss and the other revlon superlustrous next time..

I never thought buying bronzer, but i decided to buy one since i never try it. Besides what's the use of buying something that you've already had? So after a thorough search, i decided to buy the golden bronzer.

I was unsure which one to buy, the cool or golden one. I read that golden was pretty subtle, so it was suitable for fair skin like me. While cool was a matte bronzer, which was suitable for contouring which i wanted to learn. But i was afraid that the contour shade was too dark for me, so i decided to buy the golden one.

The package : a black plastic compact case with mirror inside. It had a plastic separator inside, so the mirror won't get messy.
Inside : it consisted with 4 small rectangle area. Upper left was a golden shade, shimmery but very subtle. Upper right was a peachy shade, it could be use as blush. Lower left was a ivory shade, and it could be use as highlighter alone. Lower right was a browny shimmery shade. If only it was a bit matte and less shimmery, i could use it for contouring since it wasn't too dark for me.
When all four combined together, it gave me a golden shimmery glow. Very beautiful and really subtle. You wouldn't noticed the color, unless there was a light or sunshine.

Overall, i was satisfied with this bronzer. It was tame for beginner like me. Though i wanted to buy something that could be used as contouring too...
Would i re-purchase? Probably not if i found something else..

i had a bunch of lipstick that i need to finish, that's why i also use lipstick a lot. i planned to get nyx round lipstick, that's why i had to wear my lipstick.. pleaseee.. be quick.. hahaha.. and i didn't have any lip brush, and i was too lazy, so i just wear it straight from the bullet. sometimes if you noticed, it would get messy. hehehe.. but i didn't want to spend my money on various lip liner, that's why when i read about lip& lock pencil, i was tempted to buy it.

what they said about it:
"keep your lipstick, lip gloss, and lip liner from feathering, traveling, or budging with the smooth glide lip lock pencil. your lip color stays locked in place for continous wear. the colorless formula is perfect for and skin tone and fills in fine lines around the lip"

i've tried it twice. once only around my natural lip lines, and once on my entire lips. the first one, i didn't see much difference, probably since i was using a pretty natural lip color. but the second one, when i tried it all over my lips, i noticed few things. first, it kind of dries my lips. and my lip color became a little bit matte. hahaa.. i was using revlon lip butter, and usually the finish was creamy and a bit glossy. but over the lip lock, it was not glossy at all. though it was true, no lipstick traveling and creeping into fine lines. but when i read again about it, some said that i didn't work as primer, that's why it felt a bit drying. hahaha.. today i wore it around my lips, and it did what it was supposed to. unfortunately, this lip lock and my lipstick faded quite easily after eating and drinking. that's why you had to bring both around if you are outside.

for a $3 worth, it was okay. perhaps if i tried with a bright lipstick, the result would be seen quickly. let's wait until i ordered my nyx and tried it with different bunch of color. until then, i was satisfied. no lip liner needed so far.
will i buy it again? probably yes.

i've read tons of review about this eye primer until i decided to buy one. i decided to buy a sheer one, since i thought it would be a great choice.

this eyelid primer is from their essential line, $1 only! what they said about it:
" preps your eyelid for smoother, longer-lasting and crease-proof eyeshadow. the lightweight liquid formula quickly absorbs into the skin for comfortable wear and increases eye color longevity."
i didn't like eyeshadows much, since i couldn't apply it well, but i still had my sephora pret a porter pallete, and i had to finish at least half of it to buy a new one. *sigh* that's why i tried to wear eyeshadow everyday. but it didn't show, sometimes the color just faded only after an hour or so. *sigh* and sometimes the lighter color won't show. and if i kept adding more color, it got powdery and very messy.

i've tried the eyelid primer twice. yesterday i wore a deep purple matte eyeshadow and today a golden brown one. the purple one was quite opaque, without eyelid it was shown enough. but with eyelid primer, it held for 4 hours. quite impressive. i had oily skin, so sometimes my eyelid got oily too and washed away the eyeshadow. but it didn't happen after i used the primer.

today i wore a golden brown shadow. i had to add a lot of it to make it show, usually. but today, with the eyelid primer, it shown just with 2-3 swipes! pretty impressive. and i wore it for around 4 hours, and it still there until i removed it. i forgot to take the "before and after" photo, but i will try to photograph it later.
*update: as you can see below, without the primer, the eyeshadow color was not as opaque as with primer. both for light and dark shadows. the color payoff came up better with primer.*

conclusion: for a $1 item, it was satisfying. it held the promises elf made. i was impressed. no need to spend a hell lot of money on UD eye primer. hahaha..
will i buy it again in the future? definitely yes.
