  • About me
slowly but steady i started to finish my sample. and this one i got as a bonus sample from tester korea. i actually bought the serum samples on my second haul, and i wasn't interested in the cream, but getting this as bonus, why not?

okay, skinfood is releasing a hell lot of new line, and most of it is moisturizing and targeted for anti aging treatment, and black pomegranate line is one of them. they are targeting for anti-wrinkle. this is the description from their global website: moisturizing black pomegranate cream for luminous, resilient skin.
this is the picture of the entire whole line, which is a lot... i guess you don't have to use all the product in the line.
the description from en.koreadepart.com: cream that makes dry and rough skin to be smooth and radiant skin. black pomegranate that contains full of ellagic acid, antioxidant ingredient, creates resilient and young skin. moisturizing and smooth touch.
ingredients: black pomegranate voluming effecter, pomegranate extract, pomegranate seed oil, adenosine.

okayy.. now let's onto the review.
the package: although the full size product bottle is red, the sample sachet is cream, just like the rest of the item in the line. one sachet can last up to 5 days since a little can be enough.
the smell: i guess since it's named pomegranate, so it's smell like pomegranate. a little bit acidic, but not that strong. quite subtle. once you applied it on your face, the scent will go away. actually, it's kind of weird though. pome in cosmetic? well, i guess there's a first time in everything.
the product: it's a white cream. a little bit thick, but not as thick as innisfree orchid night cream, but a little bit thicker thatn the innisfree orchid enriched cream. probably since it's for anti-aging, it's always on the thick side.
the result: well, 5 days isn't enough to determine the anti aging effect. all i can say is it doesn't break me out. i hope if i'm bored with my olay one, i can substitute it with this one.

okay, for you who have been reading my blog, you will know that i'm in search for essence or serum for sebum control and hopefully will shrink my pore. though i don't have gigantic pores, but i have visible pores on my nose and my inner cheek (near my nose). and i've tried the skinfood and mizon, and i haven't found the ace one. and i saw on sampehime's instagram (go see her blog: samplehime.com) and she said she loved the its skin po effector. even she bought two full-size bottles at once! so i guess the product must be good.. so i have to try it, and luckily, my usual sample seller has them, so i bought them.

this is the description from their official website:
po effector: silky essence especially designed to treat pores, containing highly concentrated houttuynia cordata extracts with the superior function of sebum control and 4 other ingredients combined to tighten pores for the management of pores.

since i have good experience with vc effector, i hope i get the same experience with this one too..
the package: the sample is in a sachet that's have the picture and the color of the full size product. it's also shaped like a bottle. i guess it'll make easier for you to purchase the full size since you've already known the color.
the smell: usually i can't pick certain scent out of a product, but this one.. it has a distinct floral scent. since i have a bed smelling sense, i assume it must be a little bit strong for normal nose.. so it's a no-no for me. i can't stand fragrant smell, that's why i never buy perfume. it makes me dizzy. and i always have the assumption that my skincare shouldn't smell this strong. too floral.. but for you who like floral scent, probably it will work for you.
the product: it's a cloudy white substance, a little bit whobbly, but not too runny. like a cream but light, more to gel. i don't know how to describe the texture, but all i know, it's absorbed quickly. oh and one sachet can last for 3 uses, so i get to use this sample for whole week, sometimes twice a day.
the result: i can only comment for the sebum control. and it did help a little with sebum control. just like skinfood and mizon, but it didn't leave slightly greasy feeling like mizon. as for the pore tightening effect, i have no saying. but some bloggers said that it works. it just needs time. probably months. so for you who want instant result or at least quicker, just skip this.

overall, this is a good serum for pore and sebum control, but since i can't stand the scent, i have to skip this one.

my skin condition when i first use this
yeyy.. finally i can get ahold of my tester korea haul. my second haul.. and my last sample haul. as i stated previously, i ordered my samples from grosirsamplekorea.com (previously grosirsamplekorea.blogspot.com). though the seller is rarely accepting wish list, but most of the sample that i want, she's already had it. one disadvantage is she's in pontianak.. so i have to choose the slowest one to make sense the shipping rate.

okayy... let's talk about my tester korea haul.
1. skinfood premium tomato whitening kit. well, i want to try balance my skin tone, my face skin tone with my neck. and i want to get rid of my spots, so i want to try whitening products. and skinfood is launching their new tomato line, so i want to try it. i heard that the whole entire line is suitable for oily skin, so i hope it's true. though i didn't want the entire line, i had my eye on the cream or the essence, but trying the whole line won't hurt.
2. nature republic watery max combination cream: i've been searching for these samples. i've said that i'm in search of the new moisturizer. so far, i had my mind on the mizon water volume aqua gel, but i still want to try this one. after that probably i'll decide which one to buy on full size. *finger cross*
3. skinfood pomegranate volumining serum : this is another serum for anti aging. i was hoping this is okay for me, since i've searching for anti aging treatment..
4. its skin vc effector: actually, this is a mistake. i was supposed to get the vb one, but my sister who ordered this for me get me vc instead. oh well, since i've already tried vc, so i can accept the mistake. and if i'm bored, i'll give it to her to finish so i can buy vb. hahaha..

my second tester korea haul

now, my sample haul
1. its skin po effector: i have to admit sample hime affected me on this one. she's adore it, and i have to try it. i want to try it, but since i've read somewhere that it's greasy, so i keep postponing to try it. but then i was bored and i want to try something new while waiting my TK haul, so i got it. it's the first one that i tried, and i will write a short review soon about it.
2. its skin co effector: well, i have to have something else if the skinfood pome didn't work out.
3. innisfree green tea seed serum and cream: okay.. i love innisfree, and the green tea seed serum is huge. i want to try it. let's just say, i just have to.
4. skin79 green bb cream: this is the palest shade for oily skin, so i have to compare it to the orange one. just for comparison.
5. sulwhasoo overnight vitalizing mask: this one i have to blame skinandtonics and wanderlustproject. both loved it soooo muchh.. though probably i would never buy the full size, it won't hurt to try the sample right? just like laneige. who knows that the famous firming sleeping pack breaks me out? whoo..

my samples from grosirsample

okay.. by typing this, i had this itch to try them at once, but.. i have to wait. until then...
my favorite lip balm from bodyshop has been out of stock for ages. and the lip butter that i got as birthday gift from the bodyshop chocolicious edition isn't enough. it's buttery and it tastes bitter! plus it melts on hot days like these, so i'm looking for new lip balm. about several months ago i was curious about maybelline baby lips, but i kept postponing to buy it. i'm looking something like maybelline baby lips, a lip balm+ color combo. i'm quite a lazy person when it comes to makeup, especially if i'm just going out on errand.. so a lip balm + color combo will be perfect for me. it will keep my lips moisturized but i won't look pale.

and i'm searching about nyx.. and i found out their butter lip balm. at first i was torn between the color lip balm and the butter lip balm. both had great reviews, though the butter lip balm failed some. but one of the blogger said that you should keep the butter lip balm in cool place, so i guess since it has the "butter" label, it will be the same case with my lip butter.

back to the butter lip balm, after checking tons of swatches, i decided to get two of them. (why one? hahaha..) i choose parfait and panna cotta. parfait is a bublegum pink, and panna cotta is supposed to be pink -coral but on the natural side, perfect for everyday.

the package: the butter lip balm comes in a chapstick model, just like the ordinary lip balm. you can twist the bottom to get it out. and luckily, the body color is the same as the shade color, so it's easy to grab which one you want. i don't know if there's a renewal in the cover style, but i receive two different cover style. at first i was afraid that one of them is counterfeit, but then i searched again and found out that both are genuine. i don't know if it's the 2014 new style or not.

the smell: it smells like bubblegum candy. so fun. but not overpowering. it's very subtle and you can still smell it when you wear it. and the scent lingers for a long time too.

the color: as i expected, the color is pretty sheer. panna cotta is harder to show than parfait. on my lips, panna cotta is just MLBB, but parfait is a pretty pink on my lips.

the result: the moisturizing power is quite the same as my lip butter, slightly under my vitamin e lip balm. but t's enough for me. some say that it's quite thick for lip balm, so if you don't like the buttery texture, you might want to skip this. and some say that it dries on the line of your lips, after drinking and eating, i found out that it's true. but not the drying effect that i get, it's just like tightening feeling along my lip lines when it faded away. like a reminder that what you put on your lips before has gone now.

overall, i'm glad that the lip balms meet my expectation. for you who want to give a little bit color to your lips without all the fuss, this lip balm is a must for you. you can apply as many times as you like. but if you dislike the buttery feeling or living in super hot and humid country (like mine) and you don't have cool place to store it, you might want to skip this.

probably from several posts you can predict that korean brands that i partially toward to are skinfood and innisfree. actually, i was attracted to nature republic as well, but since i can't find the sample of the product that i want to try, i postpone it before jumping to full size product. but i heard that some of their famous products are being discontinued.. *sigh* plus not many online shops here in indonesia that accept preorder for nature republic, which another reason that discourage me to buy them.

well, back to nature republic, i was on the fermentation product wagon a while back.. and i'm obsessed.. and this gift set is the result. i've tried innisfree soybean energy essence and i have missha's on my hand, but haven't tried it. the nature republic name their line of fermented product "the first" actually, there are two types, the first one is just the first. the other has "whitening" name, which of course, for whitening purpose. this is the description from en.koreadepart.com
ingredients: yeast extract, centella asiatica extract, portulaca oleracea l extract, arctium lappa extract, licorice extract, peony extract, cndium extract, lavender extract, rosemary extract, sanghwang mushroom extract, chamomile extract, cava extract, kuzu vine extract, marshmallow extract.

product description: the first line includes fermented yeast extract and herb complex. naturally fermented ingredients revitalize skin. moisturizing, tightening, cleansing dead skin cells, and controlling sebum. 7 types of organic herb extract pacifies and cares skin. includes 73% of fermented yeast ingredient. rich moisturized emulsion makes skin clear and transparent. cushioning texture and high molecule oil create moisture layer.

the whole line is consisted with the first clear toner, number one essence, ampoule essence, emulsion, eye cream, and cream. quite a lot for one line.. but i'm sure you don't have to wear them all.

the packaging: the gift set is consisted with the toner and emulsion. i tried the emulsion first. both are packaged in a tiny white plastic bottle with brown cap. and only the first emulsion typed in the body of the bottle. i have to assure you that it's very tiny! the cap is a screw cap, which easy to open, but... the opening is very small.. and it's very irritating to try to get the product out. i hope they change the package to a pump or something. something easier to get the product out.

the smell: it smells nice.. almost as nice as the innisfree orchid line.. it smells flowery, but not too overpowering. hmmm.,.. niceee...

the product: it's a whitish cream, thin cream to be exact. it absorbs quickly to my skin, and leaves it moisturize. but not too much. it doesn't feel sticky.

the result: okay.. usually i don't get purging from trying fermented product, but somehow this one mess with my skin. okay, i'm not on my birth control pill anymore, but i usually don't get acne this much. at first i though it's just purging and i keep on going. but tiny acnes keep showing up, one every 3 days or so. just around my nose and mouth. but since i keep my other skincare as usual, the acne usually dried up after 3 days. but until i finish this tiny bottle, which approximately lasted almost 2 weeks, i still get acne. do purging stay that long? i don't know. this one moisturize my skin just like the other cream but doesn't get me oily. standard for 4 hours i guess.. without makeup on, since i was too lazy putting makeup last week.

overall, this is an okay emulsion for oily skin to combination skin. another cheaper version if you want to try fermented product. but i suggest try the sample first. and since i keep getting acne, i will skip this one.

left: the sample (sorry for the blurry pic)
right: product on my hand (the bottom one supposedly show that it's not sticky and not too thick)
as i already said in my several posts, i'm intended to finish all my samples. though i've already purchased my second tester korea haul, but it hasn't arrived yet, and i've made quite a progress. actually, i've used this one along with my several samples empties last week, but i forgot to write about it.

missha time revolution night repair science activator ampoule. what a long name! i even have to look up on google so i won't say it incorrectly. the first missha product that i'm attracted to is their time revolution first essence, which the dupe for the famous SKII. i have the samples, finally, but i haven't tried it yet. another dupe yet famous product from missha is this night repair activator ampoule, which is a dupe for estee lauder advanced night repair. many choose to buy missha since it's lower in price compared to estee lauder. but since i haven't tried estee lauder, i won't compare them.

okay, back to missha night repair.. (i decide to make it short..why they have to make such a long name?). this is the description from misshaus.com:
the complete science behind beautiful skin. use the essential activator ampoule on a daily basis to get smooth and firm, beautiful skin. it provides your skin with extra nutrients and moisture that you are not getting from basic skincare. the ampoule energizes, repairs, and restores elasticity. it also provides wrinkle repairing and whitening benefits. contains fermented bifida, lactobacillus, and lactococcus for improved, healthier skin. bifida ferment strengthens skin's barrier to prevent damage from harmful environmental factors. lactobacillus ferment contains peptide and vitamin b12 for improved, healthy skin condition. saccharomyces ferment filtrate has protective and antioxidant properties to moisturize and improve skin barrier.
how to use: most effective when used at night, but can also be used at morning. use after toner/essence and before serum/ lotion.

actually, i'm a little bit confused between this purple-pink bottle and the blue one, and i still can't find the satisfying answer. if you know the difference between those two, i'll be gladly to know.

okay.. .now to the sample review..
the package: the full size product is a bottle with dropper to drop the product. the bottle is in purple-pink colored. the sample also has the picture of the the full size bottle in the exact color. though the sample is quite big in size (since it's shaped like a bottle), the amount is standard for 2-3 times usage.
the smell: i can't say it has certain scent, all i know it doesn't smell bad nor has strong scent. sorry for my bad nose..
the product: it's yellow liquid, but not too runny. it absorbs quickly.
the result: since i only use it for a week, i can't say anything about the wrinkle repairing, but i can see that it do help with the whitening. i can see my face a little bit brighter in the morning. probably since i use whitening night cream also. it also moisturizes my skin. and thankfully, no break outs during my trial.

overall, this is a good night serum. i confused at first since you can see the sign that it can be used day and night, since i thought this is a night serum. but then i read the explanation from misshaus, and i'm sure this one is better to use at night. if you are concern about anti-aging and don't want a thick serum, this is probably the one for you. but since it contains fermented ingredients, so might want to try first if you have any reaction. after all, missha is quite expensive, so it will be a waste if you jump to full size and then it doesn't suitable for you. for me, i'll wait for their sales to buy both the first time essence and the night serum.

right: the product on my hand
i've been busy with school lately, and somehow it affects my mood in writing. and after days of consultation, i'm bored with school stuff and decided to try one of my samples. as you know, i've ordered samples from testerkorea, and i got some freebies, one of them is skinfood broccoli toner, which i'd like to review today. actually, it will be just a short commentary, since i only got one sample.

this is the description i found from en.koreadepart.com
broccoli's rich vitamin c and betacarotene makes skin healthy. mild toner for sensitive skin.
actually, the toner is from the broccoli and cabbage line. it's meant for sensitive skin. the whole broccoli line is consisted with broccoli facial foam, toner, watery ampoule, whitening ampoule, emulsion and cream.

the packaging: the sample is in soft green sachet, mimicking the real product's color. actually, i'm kind of admire skinfood for giving generous amount of sample in one sachet, but for this sample, it's the opposite.
the product: it's a clear watery substance. i say watery because it's clear and watery, easy to absorb, but it's not that runny, even the black sugar serum is runnier.. so i don't know how to classified this toner.
the smell: i can't specified the scent, all i know it has mild scent, a little bit refreshing, but not overpowering.
the result: since it's so little, i can't say much about it. all i know, it doesn't contain alcohol, so don't expect freshness that you usually get from toner with alcohol. and it's quite moisturizing for me. FYI, i have oily skin, so i'm hoping my toner can help me with my sebum and oil problem, not causing it.

overall, i'll say that this formula probably suits everyone who has dry or sensitive skin, or probably teenage girls whom in search for their "adult" version skincare.
