this is a very, very late post. i wanted to review the revlon colorburst lip butter since ages, but i couldn't find the original picture i've taken with my camera for a while. so i kept forgotten about it. but then i found it and i could transferred it to my laptop, so here i am, writing reviews about it.
i had one when i was just having my son. i was bored, and before i got into labor, i managed to buy a couple of lip butters. i wanted to try new lipstick. at that moment, i was still a sheer lipstick/ lipgloss girl. and i had a not-so-good experience with the well-known shade pink in the afternoon from revlon superlustrous lipstick line. but i got attracted instantly when i saw the advertising.
what they said about it? it contained hydrating mango, shea, and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%. the pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth. sheer to medium color with buttery shine. available in 20 luscious shades.
the first one i bought was berry smoothie. it was a nice berry color, suitable for daily use. i liked that it was not too bright, but the color payoff was good. i thought it suitable for all skin tone. and it didn't dry my lips as the superlustrous one. unfortunately, since it was moisturising, it easily faded. but i don't mind reapplying it. so the staying power was pretty weak, it vanished with eating and drinking. berry smoothing also easily transfered everywhere. i didn't remembered it having a distinct smell, but i might be wrong, since it was years ago.
second one i bought was tutti frutti. i didn't know what was i thinking before buying it. all i know, i remembered reading all the rave about this shade and decided to give it a go. this was a sheer orange color. one swipe wouldn't show the real color. but i guess this color wasn't for fair skin. i thought it would be better on medium skin. again, it was moisturizing, so it was faded easily. the color was sheerer than berry smoothie, so it needed more than one swipe to make it show.
next was peach parfait. in the advertisement, emma was supposed to wear peach parfait, and it looked beautiful. so i thought i would buy one, hoping it would suitable for me. without trying it. hahaa.. luckily, it was okay. it was a pretty sheer coral shade. also suitable for everyday wear and all skin tone. but on my lips, the color didn't look anywhere near emma's. it was way more sheer than emma's opaque lips. since it was barely noticeable, only make my lips nicer, this one was the first tube i finished. and since it was very sheer, the color faded quicker than the other. i had to bring it everywhere when i use it.
then there was sweet tart. it was a bright vibrant pink, almost fuchsia. it was perfect for spring. the kind of lipstick that could instantly brighten up your face. since this was brighter, one swipe just enough. and it lasted longer than the other, maybe around 4 hours or so without eating and drinking. and since it was bright, it faded into a lip line, which i didn't like. i guess this shade for more suitable for fair skin.
the last one was cherry tart. i wasn't into red lips yet at that time, but i wanted something more mature. and i wanted to try red. at that moment it was between cherry tart or candy apple, but i forgot why i finally chose cherry tart. cherry tart was a blue based red lipstick, and very sheer. it was good for red lippies beginner. it was sheerer that sweet tart. it matched my fair skin, but i also believed medium skin tone could pull it off just well. while on darker skin tone, probably it would wash them out since it was sheer. the lasting power was a bit like sweet tart. but it also vanished with eating and drinking.
overall, i was satisfied with this lip butter. it didn't dry out my lips, which was great, since most lipstick are drying. and most colors it offered suitable for everyday wear. but if you wanted some more color punch, you might skip this babies. for a lipgloss lover or a lipstick beginner, i do recommend this stuff.
what i will purchase again? probably peach parfait and cherry tart.
