coastal scents revealed palette

i know... i've been blogging about makeup lately.. but i'm not in the mood to try new skincare.. especially at night. most of the samples i had are night creams and night serums and sleeping pack.. *sigh* every time i open my closet i wanted to try them, but then comes the night and that spirit just vanished. well, for now let's just play with some makeup ..

as i mentioned in another blog post, since i've already played with sephora palette which has a lot of colors but not quite wearable, so i decided to pick new makeup kit separately. i've bought nyx powder blush, and i'm intended to buy another one or two, but i still can't decide which shade. and now, i'm buying the famous revealed palette. ah well, you might said it's a palette! yes i know, but i'm bored easily, and i believe i won't be satisfy with single eyeshadows, so i searched for a palette, not so many colors, but in neutral shade which will be wearable for everyday use. and i came upon this revealed palette.

as you all know, the famous eyeshadow palettes were urban decay's naked series. my sister had their naked 1. and it was tooo pricey for me (remember, a mom?) so i decided to find the dupes for it. and i stumbled upon several choices. the famous one and recommended from various blogger is the coastal scents revealed palette, which is the dupe for naked 1 and 2. coastal scents has just released the 2nd revealed, which is the dupe for naked 3, but i'm not into rosy gold shades, so i choose the first revealed palette instead. oh, and many drugstores brands have joined in the naked dupe wagon, i remembered nyx have nude on nude palette and natural palette, and the latest one is maybelline with their the nude palette. i've read on several blog that nyx natural palette and maybelline the nude might be cheap, but the color payoff are not that good, so they said to pass them. soooo.. i'm back to coastal scents. and i've just finished my master degree, so i decided to gift myself a little treat.. hehehe..

okay.. move on to the review..
this is the description from the official website: expose your natural beauty with this exquisite collection of nude and metallic hues. these smooth, powdered shadows blend seamlessly to create an array of day or evening looks. the slim palette holds all twenty shadows, allowing for easy on-the-go application.

the packaging: it's a slim palette, with cardbox cover and magnetic lid. very slim indeed compared to naked palette. unfortunately, there's no mirror inside.. so the on-the-go application can't be applied as you have to hold another mirror to do so.
the color: the color payoff is good, just as advertised. though there's the first nude shade, the first shadow on the top row which is similar to my skintone.. so i have difficulty to make it shown. though it's perfect to use as base though.. oh, and the color payoff are different between each shades, probably since they have different finish.
the product: each pan is quite big for me.. since i'm sure i can't finish a whole single eyeshadow pan. the pan is bigger than sephora's pan, so i'm not sure if i can finish them all.. i've read in some blogs that the pan size is smaller than urban decay's, but just a bit. so i guess it's worth the money. you get similar quality but way cheaper. plus, it comes in 20 shades, while urban decay's only has 12 shades. oh and some pans are more powdery, but again, it's different due to its finish. and no, it's not very powdery like drugstore ones. the only downside is they don't name the shade... and it makes it more difficult to remember.. ("i use this #3 shade from the top".. blablablabla... is more difficult to remember than "i use toasted shade on my crease")

overall, i'm satisfy with this palette. i hope i can try them all, but since i'm not that good in applying eye makeup plus having the monolid and all, i still have to learn to use all the shades. if you're on a budget but still want to look good on everyday base, and looks professional at work, i recommend this palette. it's worth the money.. really.. don't try the drugstores one just because they're cheaper..

the outer box on top and the palette at the bottom

the inside of the palette, no mirror

since they don't give any names on the shade, i have to number them

as you can see, #1's barely seen on my skin, #2 just shown a bit shimmery on me
