okay.. lately i've realized that buying mac sample can lead to something dangerous.. wanting to buy the full size. oh no.. okay.. probably not the bright shades but the everyday shades.. and after trying a couple samples, i have to admit, i'm quite tempted to try buying the full size product. oh well, i have to save some money first... and the latest sample that i've tried is plumful. why plumful? well, i have to blame essiebutton for this one, since i've watched her review and she said that if you only can buy one mac lipstick, then.. plumful it is..
mac website describe the shade as blossoming rose-plum and it's in lustre finish. okay, i haven't told you about mac lipstick finishes, but i bet most of you already knew that. well, for you who haven't known that yet, i'll break it down for you.
amplified: cream finish, means the colors will mostly opaque and non drying formula.
cremesheen: high shine finish, means it will be creamy, a little bit moisturizing and the color will have some shine in it.
frost: frost finish, well... this one means if the light hits your lips, it will give some frosty finish.
lustre: semi-gloss finish, means this one will be sheer in color, and lipgloss-alike.
matte: matte finish. well.. no other description needed.
retro matte: matte finish. this one will be more matte than the usual matte.
satin: semi matte finish. this one will also give opaque result, slightly drying but not as drying as the matte one.
okay.. got that? now back to plumful..
the color payoff: it's in lustre finish, so the color is subtle but still shown. but probably if you have pigmented lips, probably the result will be different. some say that plumful will give pinky plum shade, some on the pinkish side. but on me, more on plum side. oh, you can also build up the color intensity. but don't expect very opaque result though...oh though it will look nice on every skin tone, but it will be more flattering on fair-medium skin, more on cool tone side i guess..
the lasting power: since it's lustre, probably you will expect non lasting formula. well, i can't say since i eat after couple hours and it does dissipate with eating and drinking. and thanks to lustre finish, the colors will dissipate completely without setting into lip lines and didn't leave any stain.
the formula: lustre is quite moisturizing, so dry lips rejoice! you can enjoy this mac lipstick without worry.
overall, this one is a win for me. though the color appears slightly darker on my lips, but it's still wearable. and since trying this out, i've used it couple more and i've hit pans. sucks.. oh well.. i still have plenty on my list to go.. so until i've decided which shade to buy, i definitely won't buy any full size. if you're looking for purple lipstick but won't try opaque lipstick since it will look ridiculous or looking for something to wear daily and perfect for autumn/winter, then i strongly suggest this one. since i'm living in tropical country.. then i have to just go with it..
