freeman beauty golden grain brightening mask

this is another mask sample that i bought recently since i saw the pictures from several bloggers/instagrammers. i honestly never heard of freeman until i saw the pictures, and i was surprised by the variations of the masks that they have. i had hard time choosing which one to pick and try first. if you follow me on instagram, then you might knew that i've bought 5 of them, and this is the second one that i tried. the first one was the avocado clay mask. honestly, i'm curious with everything that said "brightening". merely because most of the brightening products that i've tried never had any effect on me, so after reading few reviews (most of them are good), i decided to give it a try.

this is the description from their website:
glowing skin is worth its weight in gold! this illuminating gel mask with natural golden grain helps lift moisture levels for a dewy-smooth look and feel. triple skin benefits of vitamin c are known to help control the formation of dark spots, firm, and brighten. perfect for dehydrated skin.
directions: apply generously to face and neck, avoiding contact with eyes. leave on skin for 5-10 minutes. rinse with warm water. use two times a week or as often as needed.

the packaging: the full size version comes in a tube like the picture above. however, you can buy the travel size which comes in sachet. i can't say the shape of the sachet because it's irregular. and it has the same color and design as the full size version. they have clear instruction and description at the back of the sachet.

the scent: i was hoping to sniff something citrusy, which is common for products that contained vitamin c. however, this one doesn't have that same scent. in fact, it smells fragrant, but very subtle. not citrusy at all.

the product: it is a transparent gel cream with gold specks. yes... gooooolllldddd... and it's quite visible. so fancy.. it's on the runnier side of gel, so it spreads easily on my face. however, since it's quite slippery, the first time i use this mask, i accidentally applied it too close to my eyes and it stings.  i notice cooling sensation after i applied it on my face. but as it dries, the cooling sensation is gone. and one sachet can last up to 4 usages for me (i used 2-3 times as combination with the clay mask, so i only use this on my forehead and cheek area) but many people said that it's only good for twice usages.

the result: this mask promises to hydrates and brightens, but they don't deliver it to the max. it gives hydration, but not that much. i can still use my usual sleeping pack afterwards and the next morning my face doesn't get greasy, unlike when i used etude house collagen mask. as for brightening, again.. i'm not the right person to test any brightening effect since i can only see brightening effect after i wash it off my face. but minutes later the glow is gone.

so, luckily i tried the sample before committing to the full size. although it looks fancy thanks to the gold specks and sooo beautiful, but it doesn't give any effect on my face. i can get more hydration and brightening effect from a good sheet mask, so why bother having a full bottle of this mask? but many people seems to like this mask, so perhaps you should try it yourself, since everyone is different.
the sample sachet
left: the mask (move it to container so you can see the gold specks)
right: the mask on my face (since it's clear you can only see that it makes me glow)
