okay, i asked my sister to order something from sephora online, so in return, i got a few samples. one of them is this cream from fresh. i also got the toner one and i've reviewed it in other post. anyway, i never touched this cream in sephora, so i have no idea what to expect. the whole rose line is focused on hydration, so let's see how it goes. and since this only comes in sachet, i can only review it as first-impression and not fully in depth one.
this is the description from their website: this lightweight moisturizer delivers 72-hours deep hydration in three ways: high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid instantly and deeply hydrate while time-release technology delivers continuous hydration. damask rose extract strengthens the skin's barrier to lock it all in, resulting in dewy skin that's plumped with moisture. deeply hydrates for 72 hours, strengthens the skin's barrier, soothes dry skin for a plump, dewy look.
key ingredients:
- damask rose extract: sourced from rose valley, bulgaria and extracted with a sustainable approach, helps to retain moisture while strengthening the skin's barrier to protect from water loss.
- hyaluronic acids of high (1500kDA) and low (50kDA) molecular weight work to instantly hydrate the skin's surface and deliver hydration into the deeper layers of the epidermis.
- rosewater: helps to calm and soothe.
- time-release technology: creates a hydrating micro network on the skin surface: acacia gum and algin create a tight knit web, and serine is gradually released for long-lasting moisturization.
the packaging: it comes in a sachet with the picture of the full size version at front. there's description in various languages at the back. it comes in 2 ml but i can use it for 3 uses. however, it irked me that they didn't put any marking on the sachet, so i have to cut it with scissors to get it open. and not just tear it open.

the scent: fortunately, this one doesn't smell as strong as the toner. the rose scent is more subdued so it's more bearable to use the cream.
the product: it's a white gel type cream, but on the thicker side. it feels almost like cream. compared to other moisturizers that i tried lately, this one is the thickest. i only need a little for my whole face and neck, that was why it was enough for 3 uses.
how it looks like on my hand |
the result: i have to say that i'm relieved to find that even though it's on the thicker side, it's not too heavy for my skin. but, maybe in the long run, it's more suitable for night time for me rather than day moisturizer. right now since i'm mostly indoors with AC on, the moisturizer is enough for my combination skin. but under the heat, i can imagine that it'll bee to heavy. the moisturizer is more moisturizing rather than hydrating.
compared to drunk elephant the green one (forgive me for forgetting its complete name), i like that one better as that one really comes in gel type and really lightweight. this one though, i don't think i'll purchase the full size as it's quite thick. but if you have dry skin, then this might be a good choice if you want to splurge. it does work, just not for me. i'm glad that i got the sample as it gives me the idea about the full size one. if you don't mind with the scent and the price, then go for it. as for me, i have other great moisturizers so i'll pass.
