merit cheeky balm flush

actually, since pandemic, i almost didn't update myself on makeup releases. i even kept my expired makeup for just in case because i didn't want to buy new makeup during pandemic. but then, the world is starting to heal and people started using makeup again. somehow, my makeup taste shifted as well. i almost didn't touch my powder lately, so i'm inclined toward cream and liquid products now. and one of the brand that i found lately was merit. i didn't watch a lot of reviews, but somehow i'm interested in their flush balm. and for the holiday, they release a flush balm set. it's a set of 3, so the size is smaller than the regular one. which is perfect since i don't think i'd be able to finish the full size one. And luckily, one seller sold them in retail, so i didn’t need to buy the whole set to try them.

This is a description from their website: a cream tint that melts into skin for lit-from-within color that stays flush all day.
What it does: microfine pigment powders provide a touch of color without covering up your natural skin texture. Lightweight, buildable formula leaves a long-lasting glow that’s never heavy or cakey. Formulated without acne-triggering ingredients. Vitamin E conditions skin. Made with 43% recycled plastic and ships in our signature packaging that is either recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
Cheeky is a cool pink.

The packaging: if you bought this as a set, then it would come in a box with all three balm flush inside. But since i didn’t, then it only comes in their individual dome shape. The bottom is a gold plastic bottom with dome-shaped transparent plastic cap on top. Since the cap is transparent, you can see the balm flush from the outside. there's a label with the shade name on the bottom. From the outside, cheeky looks dark pink almost berry. The weight is 4.5 g which is quite decent for a blush sample, if not more. I just wish i could finish it.

The shade: the actual products have 5 shades selection while the set only offers 3 shades in a set, with one of them is exclusive to the set. If you bought a set, then you’ll get beverly hills, cheeky, and mars. the mars is the exclusive shade. I bought the cheeky one which is described as cool pink. I have to agree though. It’s a mid tone cool pink, but slightly lean toward berry shade. Actually i was considering beverly hills at first, but my skin tone has a hit and miss with peachy shade so i skip it.

The product: the balm flush is dome-shaped stick blush, basically. But the surface has this slick balmy feel that makes it easier to glide it straight on my face. However, i notice that if i apply it straight on my face, it can lift up some of the base makeup that i put underneath. That was why i like to swirl my finger on the dome before tapping it to my cheek.

The result: the color is visible but it’s not that pigmented compared to rare beauty. But it is effortless to blend it. The result is more natural, like flushed complexion, so it’s more suitable for daily use. Like no fuss stuff.

I have to say that i like this one. It’s easy to use, easy to blend and the result is seamless, more natural look. The color works well for me, so i’m glad i pick this one. Even though now i’m really tempted to try the beverly hills since it doesn’t look that peachy on pictures. Oh well, but i only have one face, so i will try to stop myself from buying more makeup. But if you want to spend your money on high-end blush, then merit is one of the good options to try. Plus, i think it’s more practical to use since it’s in stick shape. I do hope that they make mini set like this not only on holiday since blushes, especially the stick or liquid form, are hard to finish. Availability, here you have to pre order it to get it. Price wise, of course it will cost more than if you buy it straight in the US. As for me, i’m happy with my purchase so i will try to keep using it until i finish it. Or at least make a dent on it.
