i just realize that after my vitamin c streak months ago, now i don't have much vitamin c serum to try. yeah sure, there are several vitamin c serums that i haven't tried, but nothing appeals me. i do want to try bhumi vitamin c or the new bio beauty lab vitamin c serum, but somehow i'm hesitant about trying them both so i decided to just browse sociolla and bought something that attracted my eyes. and at that time, i saw joylab and remembered that they released several serums but they seemed forgotten. so i decided to try their vitamin c serum.
this is the description from their website: 2% vitamin c. powered by 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid as a powerful and non-irritating form of dark spots cause by sunlight. vitamin e and sodium hyaluronate: boost skin's elasticity and enhance hydration. jojoba seed oil: helping to promote healthy, glowing skin without leaving a greasy residue.
ingredients list: aqua, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, trilaureth-4 phosphate, chlorphenesin, tocopheryl acetate, sodium hyaluronate, xantahn gum, sodium citrate, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, disodium EDTA, citric acid, sodium hydroxide.
the bottle |
the packaging: it doesn't come in any box. they only seal the bottle with plastic sealing. the bottle itself is a blue plastic bottle with pump head that's covered with transparent plastic cap. the bottle is see through so i can see the remaining product inside. there's description as well as ingredients list at the back of the bottle. it comes in 30 ml so it's just the regular size serum, unlike other local brands that decided to downsize the serum size.
description and ingredients list at the back |
the scent: this one is scentless. it doesn't even have that citrusy scent that vitamin c serums usually have.
pump head |
the product: the serum is cloudy white serum that's quite runny so i usually pump it to my palm before patting it all over my face. i use one pump to one and a half for my whole face and neck. afterward, it doesn't feel too tacky, just slightly moist but not too much.
how it looks like on my hand |
the result: this one is moisturizing, maybe almost as moisturizing as somethinc vitamin c. however, even though it's said that it used EAA in its ingredients, somehow i don't see the brightening result from this serum. unlike other serums that also contains EAA. maybe it is brightening, but it's very slowly and almost unnoticeable.
after blending it |
sadly, i have to say that this one is a bit disappointing. maybe if you're looking for the antioxidant and the moisturizing effect, then this one is a good affordable option from local brand. but if you're looking for more brightening effect, you shouldn't get this one. try azarine or somethinc instead. that being said, i think this serum is suitable for all skin type and you can find them from their official store or from sociolla. as for me, sadly, i won't repurchase.
