since my makeup collection mostly is expired when the covid subsided, i decided to buy some more to replace my expired ones. there are a lot of stuff that i want to try, one of them is rare beauty blushes. i was hesitant on which one to try, whether the cream blush or the liquid blush, but i decided to pick the liquid blush as everyone seems to have similar opinions about it while the reviews on the cream blush is varied. but... i'm confused on what shade to try. i want to try hope or encourage, and almost tempted to buy the new set for the 2022 holiday, but i decided not to. i decided to just buy hope for now since i believe the color is suitable for me. i ordered it through a preorder order store, so let's see how it goes.
this is the description from their website: a weightless, long-lasting liquid blush that blends and builds beautifully for a soft, healthy flush. available in both matte and dewy finish. airy, lightweight liquid formula blends and builds effortlessly for a soft flush of color. infused with long-lasting color pigments for all-day wear - a little goes a long way. mistake-proof, it layers beautifully over liquid/powder formulas without disturbing makeup.
hope - nude mauve (dewy)
the box |
the packaging: it comes in an ivory box made from recycled paper. the blush itself comes in frosted plastic bottle with gold knob screw cap. the wand is attached to the cap and the applicator has big doe foot tip. it's the right size to dot the product on the cheek, but since everyone keeps saying that it's very pigmented, i scrape almost everything before dotting it on my cheek. it comes in 7,5 ml so i'm hoping with just buying one, i can at least use the most out of it before it's expired. there's the shade name as well as the small color label to indicate the blush color on top of the box. the shade is also written at front as well. there are two finishes, the dewy and the matte. i believe, the matte ones are the first to come out and then they released the dewy ones. nowadays, i think i can only find the dewy one outside the US.
shade name on top |
the shade: there are 11 shades to choose from, ranging between mattte and dewy, but i doubt that there's some matte shades left since the matte ones were the ones that came out earlier, while the dewy one is more recent and most shades are sold out aside from the ones from the US so yeah.. i have no choice but to pre order it. i decided on hope because it's light enough for my skin tone but still visible. the other shades that i was considering to get is encourage, but when i swatched them both in singapore, i decided to get hope because it's lighter.
the bottle |
the product: it's a liquid blush so it's runny but not that runny. compared to allglows liquid blush, this one is slightly thicker so it doesn't trickle out when i pull the wand out. this is quite pigmented so a little goes a long way. i've seen people making a mistake by dotting it straight to their cheeks. well, if it's bolder color, then you should just dot it on the back of your hand before patting it to your cheek. but for lighter color like hope, i usually just swipe most of the product back into the tube before dotting it to my cheek then blend it out with brush or my finger.
the doe foot applicator |
the result: it's really pigmented. even with lighter color, it really shows on my cheeks and it blends really well. both with brush or finger, it blends easily without leaving any streak marks as well. maybe because the color is lighter, i find it easier to blend it compared to allglows. however, i don't like using sponge with this one as it seems to absorb the blush rather than blending it. this works well over and under powder. as for the longevity, i can't say for sure since the longest that i've used this blush was for around 6-7 hours and obviously the blush was gone a bit because i wore mask all day too and it rubbed the blush off. anyway, i think it stays on quite decently.

i have to say that i'm happy with my purchase. though i wish that rare beauty restocked their shades soon. i have to agree that their liquid blushes are pigmented so if you're looking for a long wearing and pigmented blush but still easy to blend, then this one worths your money. unfortunately, this one isn't easy to get, especially if you're looking for a certain shade. you have to order it from a preorder store. as for me, i'm glad that i pick this one, but i'm still curious about encourage. however, i don't think that i'll be able to finish one, so unless they're releasing mini sizes for these blushes, i'd probably won't buy another one.
