caudalie vinopure clear skin purifying toner

i got some sample when i asked my sister to buy me foreo silicone cleanser. one of them is caudalie vinopure samples. however, the size of the samples are tiny, so somehow it got forgotten. anyway, i decided to clean my stash as quickly as possible as i have more products coming up. i failed my no-buy completely. anyway, since this is only a sample size, i can only give a first impression.

this is the description from their website: a splash of pure freshness. a natural toner that gently purifies and prepares the skin for the next stages of your routine. infused with natural salicylic acid, grape-seed polyphenols and organic essential oils, vinopure purifying toner targets combination and blemish-prone skin to gently purify the skin and prepare it for your next stages of your routine. the highly natural formula works immediately to improve skin clarity, unclog and tighten pores and clear imperfections, leaving the skin feeling clean and fresh. suitable for even sensitive skin, this toner contains our signature organic grape water to moisturize and soothe. a light and surprising 100% natural scent derived from the essential oils complex that delivers a breath of freshness with each application.

the sample set
the packaging: it comes in a leaflet. at front you can see the picture of the full size products. at the back, there's a bit description of the main ingredients as well as a small card to see the result. the whole vinopure line is supposed to reduce oil on your skin, so you should see the result after following the whole steps. anyway, since i don't like to use the whole line consecutively, i don't try the result card. anyway, for the toner, they placed it in a small transparent plastic bottle with light green screw cap. it comes in 5 ml size which is very tiny for a sample. usually mini toner size is around 15 ml or so. anyway, the bottle opening is too big that the first time i use it, i spill half of the bottle to my sink. but it was partly my fault too. they suggest to use the toner with cotton pad, but i usually use my bare hands to apply my toner, so i thought i could do it. but i was wrong. though second time i managed to just use a bit, i think using cotton pad is better.
how it looks like inside
the scent: this has no added fragrance. however, if you take a look at the ingredients, it contains alcohol denat, rose water, and limonene or linalool. usually those ingredients have their distinctive scent, so it would affect the product's scent. for me, this one smells medicated with a hint of alcohol scent thrown in. i have to say for a product that doesn't have added fragrance, the scent is quite noticeable.
the toner bottle
the product: this is just watery toner. that's why i spill it easily. *sigh. however, when i first using it, somehow i remember it feels cooling on my hand. probably because it contains alcohol and peppermint oil. but second time, it's not as cooling as the first time.
the big opening
the result: i have to say this is typical western toner. not korean toner that adds hydration to your skin. i know that this line is supposed to diminish sebum, but i don't think sucking all the hydration of your skin is included in the description. the toner is absorbed within seconds. like my skin sucks it all up. and poofff.. i won't feel anything after that. i can feel my skin is dry and matte. completely dry. like paper dry. i guess if you really like matte finish and don't mind drying your skin, then this toner might be for you. but if you're used to korean toner that adds hydration, then you'd agree with me that this toner is no way to be used daily. like it would suck all the water content of your skin. but, considering this is what the toner is supposed to do, then i have to say that it works.
my attempt to use it with cotton pad
left: before, right: after
not much dirt on the "after" cotton pad, unlike acwell toner's one
definitely pass. no way i would use something so drying for my skin daily. plus it contains a bunch of oils and extracts and aside from rose water, i don't see anything else that would add hydration. so no thank you.. it would be okay for one time when you really need your skin to stay matte. but using it daily? i don't think so. it would jeopardize your skin condition. i don't think i could recommend this to anyone, only if you're caudalie hard fans and you like western type of toner.
