to keep my promise for trying more local brand products, i bought a lot of stuff from sociolla the other day. and most of them are local brand. one of them is joylab moisture bomb toner. actually they have this small set that has toner, essence, and moisturizer as well, but at that time, i don't need the essence and moisturizer, so i decided to just buy the toner. joylab actually has a lot of toners. some of them are exfoliating toner. i only remember two lines from them, the moisture bomb line and the skin o'tic which contains probiotic. anyway, since i've been testing actives again, added moisture is highly appreciated, so i hope this toner delivers its promise.
this is the description from their shopee page (their website doesn't have information on the toner, perhaps because it's sold out): fresh again in seconds! toner with sodium hyaluronate that restore moisture and smooth skin texture after washing your face. with trehalose that contains anti-oxidant to prevent early aging signs and make your skin keep healthy. feel the refreshing sensation that makes the skin moist, smoother and dull-free.
suitable for dry, normal and combination skin. solution for moisten dry skin, brighten skin, balanced skin pH. free from paraben, sulphate, silicone. safe for all skin types, sensitive skin, pregnant and nursing mother, kids.
key ingredients:
- sodium hyaluronate: a humectant that naturally occures in the skin. gives longer lasting moisture and less sticky, better skin-feel.
- trehalose: water-binding, and helps to keep your skin hydrated. may allow the skin to retain moisture that it would otherwise lose.
the packaging: it comes in a plastic box. it is transparent on the three sides but it is white at the back there's a description in english and indonesian on it. ingredients list is printed on the side. they seal the top of the box with sticker. the toner itself comes in transparent plastic bottle which looks transparent from the front but at the back it has white/red background so it looks red from the front. it has white plastic screw cap. the opening of the bottle is as big as other toner bottle would be. it comes in 100 ml, but compared to my previous kikumasamune giant bottle, this one seems really small.

the scent: as you can read from the ingredients list, it has added fragrance. that's why it smells quite fragrant, but as time goes by, i become used to it. however, if you are sensitive to fragrance or have sensitive nose, you should avoid this as the scent is quite noticeable.

the product: it's a watery toner. looks like water and feels like water. it spreads easily to my face and i just need to pat it and my skin would absorb it like a sponge. i only need one layer and it would be enough. anyway, aside from all goodies like butylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate and trehalose to add hydration and moisture, this toner still contains alcohol denat. i know some of you avoid alcohol in your skincare, so you might want to avoid this if you're sensitive to alcohol or you avoid alcohol in your skincare. even though the direction says to use the toner with cotton pad, i always use my hand to apply the toner.

the result: once it's absorbed, my skin can feel the added hydration and a bit moisture that it gives. i have to say the feeling is similar to muji moisture toner, only this one a bit moisturizing. one layer of this toner equals two layer of muji moisture toner. i can feel it leaves a layer of moisture on my skin, but not sitting on top of my skin.

i have to say i'm pretty impressed with this toner. it would be even better if they tone down the scent for a bit. it's slightly too fragrant for my liking, but somehow i can still endure it. anyway, if you're looking for a simple hydrating and moisturizing toner from local brand, this might be a good option for you if you don't mind with fragrance or alcohol denat. however, it's hard to find lately since it's been sold out. but there's still some on their shopee site, so if you're interested, you can check them out. as for me, there are other local brand toners out there in the market, so i won't repurchasing this for now.
