skintific gentle-a retinol renewal serum

i am couple years away from being 40, so retinol should be my best friend by now. but, to my luck, i haven't found something that is ride or die for me, so i'm still trying here and there. anyway, there are a bunch of local brands that released retinol serum awhile back, so i'm buying them one by one and trying them to see if i have any luck with one of them. this time, i'm trying something from skintific.

the bottle
the packaging: it comes in a gold box with description in english but there's an added sticker with indonesian description on it. there's also a complete ingredients list on the side of the box. the serum itself comes in a yellow gold plastic bottle that's completely see-through so i can see the remaining product inside from the outside. it has a gold plastic pump head covered with a transparent plastic cap. there's another label on the bottle. it comes in 20 ml which is the normal size of most local brands serum, but less than the usual serum on the market.
the pump head
the scent: i was bracing myself to get a foul scent that i usually get with unscented retinol serum, but apparently, this one is scented. it's quite fragrant, in fact. but not too overwhelming. it doesn't last that long but it's still noticeable especially when i just put it on my face.
can you see the gold flecks?
the product: the serum is a transparent gel type serum with gold flecks in it. it might look gold/yellowish in the bottle, but in reality, it's clear. almost clear. it's quite runny so it's easy to spread it around. however, i'm not entirely sure that if i don't rub it in properly, the gold flecks won't melt. it takes more than a couple seconds for it to be absorbed, but it doesn't mess with other products that i layer on top of it.
see what i mean with rubbing it hard until the gold flecks melt?
the result: this is marketed as a gentle retinol. and i'm not quite sure how gentle it will be. most of the retinol that i've used are marketed as gentle. but not all of them are gentle enough to be used daily. anyway, i used this twice a week most of the time. but that doesn't do anything for me. then i use it every other day and i started to see some changes. during period, i still get acne, but it's controllable and not as severe as it used to be. but it's not remarkable. it works. but just okay, i guess.

anyway, i have to agree that this one is really gentle. i don't experience any dryness despite using it every other day. and it works in keeping my acne at bay, though not completely prevent it. as for other effects, it's not that noticeable so i can't say for sure about the other effect. price wise it's still considered affordable, though maybe not so much with the 20 ml size. availability wise, it's quite easy to get your hands on skintific products. as for me, i don't think it's remarkable enough for me to repurchase it. so, i'll pass for now.
