okay, if you have read my other posts, then you must know that i'm on shopping spree, well, in cosmetic area. i replaced my old makeup stuff with a bunch of catrice products. but i was holding on to my coastal scents revealed palette. i thought i can still use it. it has lots of neutral nudes colors that i can use everyday. but i wasn't an expert on eyeshadows, so i was looking for more tutorials so i can use more of my palettes. but then the kids were sick and i was alone for good 10 days (hubby was away), and although i have helpers, kids were with me all night long. and then somehow i stumbled upon makeup revolution and i found out that they have dupes for urban decay naked palette! i was torn between replacing my revealed palette with a new one or purchasing more and still keep my revealed palette. and i was hesitating to choose between iconic palette and their naked chocolate palette. long story short, i bought both of them (iconic 3 and naked chocolate) and i was excited! it was goooodddd...
this is the description from their website: the ultimate palettes with ultra high payoff. a perfect mix of pearl, shimmer, and matte shades. totally collectable and a pure sellout.
the packaging: it comes in a black plastic case with a large transparent window at front so you can see the eyeshadows pan from the outside. that means, no mirror. it feels sturdy, but i think it's safe not to drop it. just like the naked chocolate, this also comes with a dual ended sponge applicator, in black. i never use it though so i can't say anything about it.
the product: all the pans are long and lean, but it's still wide enough for a brush to fit in. it's slimmer but longer, compared to revealed palette. it has light to dark shades, but in rosy hue neutral since this is a dupe of naked 3. and although i don't have naked 3, some bloggers already swatched both and it's a close match. it has both matte and shimmery shades (mostly shimmery though), and most colors have good pigmentation. but some shades are prettier on the pan than on swatch. unfortunately, they didn't name the shades, so i just have to number them to discuss them. when i use brush to pick the pigment, some shades are powdery, but it's minimal.
#1 : matte beige, it's perfect for a base. it's unnoticeable on me, but for darker skin tone it might be a good highlight shade for you.
#2 : a frosty pink. it looks pretty on the pan and it's glittery on my eyes. it's a little bit powdery and has some fallouts too, but it's bearable. however, on term of pigmentation, better use some makeup fixer to make it more "pop". i think it will be suitable as topper.
#3 : a shimmery pink, slightly darker than #2. this looks okay on me, no fallout and noticeable. from this shades on, everything is noticeable on me.
#4 : matte rosy taupe : this is slightly powdery, so when you use fluffy brush, it will get a little bit messy. it's buildable, and i think many people use it as transition shade.
#5 : rose gold : it has shimmer or glitter in it, good color payoff and not powdery.
#6 : shimmery bronze: good color payoff and not powdery nor have any fallouts.
#7 : matte darker rosy taupe : darker than no 4, usually people use this on their crease. slightly powdery and the pigmentation is better than no 4.
#8 : metallic cool brown: good color payoff, no fallout.
#9 : shimmery brownish bronze: good color payoff, no fallout.
#10 : shimmery taupe brown: slightly darker than #9
#11: dark greyish brown: good payoff, slightly powdery.
#12: dark purple with pink glitter: this is interesting in pan. it looks beautiful, just like galaxy on the pan, but when i swatch it, it only looks like a shimmery purplish black. a bit powdery but doesn't bother me much.
the result: most of the colors have good payoff with minimal to none fallout, some are a bit powdery but it doesn't make my palette messy. it's blendable on my eyes and it looks beautiful. it holds up pretty well. even without primer it can hold up to 3-4 hours without creasing. with primer obviously the color will pop up more and it will stay longer. some even mentioned to always using primer.
i can definitely recommend this palette to anyone. especially if you're drooling over naked 3 but didn't want to spend a lot just for an eyeshadow palette. this one has every colors that naked 3 has in fraction of money. and it doesn't look cheap. one youtuber even make comparison for both of them on each sides of her face, and both looks the same. if you're worried that this one will look too rosy or pinky, then fear not. half of it, probably from shades 1-4 is definitely rosy and pink, but the rest are neutral color, so you can blend them all anyway you like to get the everyday look or even smokey and dramatic look. so get it and you won't regret it. have i told that it's cheap? oh well, just try it. or the other options. i believe they have iconic 1-2-3 which is dupes of naked 1-2-3. and even the smokey one i think. anyway.. do check them out.
