i bought this mask along with its siblings from the yogurt essence mask on my second visit to japan. i've bought the regular essence mask but i didn't thrill about it, so i was nervous buying these masks. i've tried two other types before, and i like them all better than the regular one, so i hope this one doesn't fail me.
this is the description from prettyandcute website: contains yogurt powder rich in calcium and protein to repair and deliver high elasticity in skin. portulaca oleracera extract contains anti-inflammatory properties to aide sensitive and irritated skin. natto gum is a potent antioxidant derived from soy protein to prevent or delay cell damage. benefits: smoothing, repairing, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory.
the packaging: just like its friends from this line, it comes in a milk jug-shape sachet. with the plain yogurt, they put cow's picture in front of the sachet and cow's skin pattern too. at the back there's description and ingredients list but everything is in japanese as usual.
the scent: okay, since both the fruity types has fruity scent, i was hoping this one has distinctive scent too. unfortunately, this one just smells like wet tissue. not a hint of milk or yogurt scent. although i'm not sure how plain milk and yogurt should smell. it's quite fragrant when i freshly open the sachet, but thankfully it dissipates quickly.
the product: the mask is made of thick and soft cotton, it doesn't feel papery at all. the fit is okay, but just like their friends, i don't like the weird lower eyelid flaps. it has slits for better adjustment. the essence is enough to soak the entire mask, but it leaves no excess. it's clear and slightly more viscous than water. the mask adheres well, but again, this is quite quick using so i only put it on my face for about 20 minutes top.
the result: again, hydrating effect is noticeable instantly. it also make my pores appear smaller, but again, the effect is obviously temporary. it does leave a sticky feeling afterward, but after all the essence is completely absorbed, the sticky feeling subsides. however, i don't see any other visible result.
honestly, i still like the yogurt essence mask line better than the regular mask line. it's more hydrating and the result is more visible too. although this is no special occasion mask, but still, as regular mask sheet, it does suffice. i think it might suitable for any skin type, although if you have super dry skin and hoping for a good boost to hydrate your skin, this might not be enough. again, if you are going to japan, buy this line and not the regular one. but both types are cheap, so it's up to you. you can buy them both without breaking your wallet.
