etude house double lasting foundation sample

i wanted to try other foundation since i want to buy some back up for my wet n wild foundation. although it's made of glass, somehow i couldn't determine how much i have left in the bottle, so i decided to get back up. i have fairly fair skin for indonesian so i have difficulty getting a match in the counter, that's why i have to buy online which means i can't buy whenever i want since it might get out of stock. anyway, i've read review and watched some youtuber mentioned that etude house double lasting foundation is the korean dupes for estee lauder double wear foundation, and many loves it, so i want to try whether or not it's true. by the time i'm writing this post, there are several more shades, but when i bought the sample, there are only 6 shades, and i decided to get the 3 fairest shade sample.

this is the description: intense coverage with "double shot technology" that foundation provides the same coverage as double coats of a normal foundation with a single application. you can easily create smooth, flawless skin with a single coat with double lasting foundation. magnet-like adherence with "magnet fit effect", the foundation weightlessly adheres on skin like a magnet without looking heavy or caky. the thin layer stays powerfully locked for a long time. various personalized shades consulted by color profesionalists. the various personalized shades are created based on global color professionalists' consultation. find a perfect shade that will flaunt your natural skin tone.

at first there are only 5 shades then they add 3 more shade. and now they add 4 more so there are 12 shades in total. but honestly, it makes no significant difference. as someone's said: it's just like a million shades of light shades and just several medium shade and not even one deep shade.
the packaging
you can see from the picture the undertone of each foundation sample.
the packaging: i believe there are two types of samples, the single one and the trio one. all is sachet type. i bought the trio one and i got fair (the cool one), vanilla (neutral tone), and ivory (the yellow one). all three is a notch lighter than my usual skintone (i'm usually shade 21 in korean bb cushion and lately i've been brighter than usual since i rarely go outside in the sun because of rainy season ). all three is attached to each other but you can tear one part to separate it from the rest. each part has a bottle picture of the full size foundation at front and at the back with a little bit korean text. thankfully the shade name is in korean.
swatches on my hand
you can see on the comparison that my wnw is in between ivory and vanilla
the color: the fair one is definitely a cool tone one. it looks very pink on me. the vanilla is the curious one. it doesn't look too neutral on me. sometimes neutral shade can look a bit grey on me, but this one doesn't. and ivory is very yellow on me. my wet n wild is yellow tone but somehow it falls in between vanilla and ivory. i don't bother test fair since it's too pink, but i tested both ivory and vanilla. i thought ivory is a best match for me, but later i think vanilla is the best match. oh well...
jaw test
i think ivory blends well that's why i tested it first
the product: the foundation is thicker than my wet n wild photofocus foundation but runnier than catrice 24 h foundation. but it spreads easily, either with brush or with sponge. i tried two different shades and the formula feels the same for those two shades. since this is a sample, one sample can last me for 2-3 uses.
ivory (left: before, right: after)
you can see that it covers my redness and some of my acne scars well enough

all sides of my face using this foundation and the complete look at the end
notice that there's still some nasty acne scars that i have to cover with concealer
the result: the finish is semi-matte but not too dewy. i always use powder on top of my foundation, so i do that too with this foundation. and i don't know why, but every time i put on this foundation, i ended up having to stay outside for almost the whole day. the first time i had to take my son to the immigration office since he needs to renew his passport. and i ended up being outside all the afternoon, from 11 am to about 8 pm. and i'm impressed. the foundation held well although i can see it melted around my nose and around my mouth and some areas on my chin put that was my fault since i touched my face sometimes when i'm bored. and although it wasn't matte at first, i didn't turn into greaseball when i got home. the second time, i ended up being outside for the whole morning to afternoon to accompany my husband. and again, i'm impressed with the longevity. it doesn't slide off my nose and doesn't make me super oily. it feels like as time goes by, it blends into my skin naturally. the coverage is medium to full and it doesn't get cakey when i put more on.
vanilla
left is before, right is after
(notice how yellow my face is freshly after putting it all over my face)
all over my face and the end look
this is another time i use vanilla and after a while, i did a jaw test and see that it's okay, a tad darker but nothing weird
honestly, i love the foundation, but i'm a bit confused about the shade. at first i thought ivory will be the best match for me since it's yellow-toned and on arm swatch it looks similar to my wet n wild, just a notch more yellow. but i tested vanilla too for the sake of this post, but i was surprised seeing that it matches nicely too. i don't turn greyish using this neutral-toned foundation, and somehow i like it better than ivory after putting it on my face for several hours. i don't this foundation oxidize on me, but i always put powder on top, so if it's oxidizes, then it's very minimal. and lately, etude house decided to add more shades and changed some of the shades' name, so i'm getting more confused about which one to get. from price point, compared to wet n wild, this is more expensive, but it's still pretty affordable considering this one is really good. i hope that they don't change the formula while changing the shades. again, this is considered an estee lauder's dupe, but i never tried one so i can't say about it being a dupe, but i can say that this is a good foundation. i think it will suitable for many skin types, but for super oily skin, you might have to put powder on top to ensure the longevity. downside, just like many other korean brands, they don't cater deeper than medium skin tone. it's understandable though. korean like to look brighter than their natural skin tone, because it's in their belief system that brighter skin means more beautiful. but, since many korean brands are being sold globally, many people got annoyed with the brand decision for getting more shades, but 50 shades of fair instead of 50 shades of everything. oh well, i think it's okay. there are so many brands and products out there, just pick whichever can cater your need and don't bother getting annoyed for the things you can't try since you only have one face and one face doesn't need that many products. in the mean time, i will try my catrice foundation then decided whether or not to get the full size of this foundation.
