i remember almost half year ago, my instagram was filled with people raving about this ampoule. at first, since i don't have problematic, i thought i won't benefit from this ampoule. but curiosity beats me. i decided to try it merely for the other effect that it promises. i want to see whether or not it will make impact in my non-problematic skin. for background story, i usually have super simple morning routine, merely because my morning is always hectic. getting 3 kids ready for school is no joke. so FTE, simple essence or serum (usually a hydrating or calming one), emulsion and sunscreen is my go-to morning routine. but i was running low on my benton snail essence, so i thought it might be the chance to try this ampoule, as it's for hydrating skin as well. so let's see whether it lives the hype or not.
this is the description from althea global website: skin1004's madagascar centella-asiatica 100 ampoule is one of those products you never knew you needed before trying it out. this gentle yet potent concentrate is made with centella asiatica extracts that contain 30% asiaticoside, 30% asiatic acid, and 40% madecassic acid for bright, rejuvenated skin. this lightweight ampoule can be used in a couple of ways including being mixed with your favorite cream, saturated in cotton pads as a mask, or even mixed with water to create a mist that you can use throughout the day.
ampoule that brightens, hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. contains centella asiatica extract to nourish and repair the skin. use on its own, as a mask or mixed into other beauty products for an added boost.

the packaging: it comes in white and light green box. there's description on the box in korean and english. and it has the shortest ingredients list because it's made of 100% centella asiatica extract. the ampoule itself comes in a glass bottle (i know... another glass bottle, which is very risky now that my kids can climb the chair and reach my vanity) with a dropper to dispense the ampoule. it's quite big, 100 ml for an ampoule. although it's not new. if i remember correctly, the famous propolis ampoule (i completely forgot the brand name) also comes in 100 ml. the dropper is quite long to reach the bottom of the bottle. but since it comes in big size, it's also heavy.

the bottle |
the scent: this is unscented as it's said in the ingredients list. it's only has centella asiatica extract without anything else! so i think even sensitive skin and nose could try this one.

the ampoule inside the long dropper |
the product: it's a clear ampoule. pretty watery, almost like toner consistency. since it's very watery, it spreads easily on my face and absorbed easily too. just don't forget to tap it. again, since it's pretty watery, i can see that it might be used as mask. i once tried it and soak a cotton pad and put it on my angry acne as mask. but usually i only use it as ampoule.
|
it's really watery so it's transparent like water |
the result: it's hydrating alright, without leaving tacky feeling. but if you have dry skin, this might not hydrating enough. it's calming, but not that great. last month i experience several breakouts due to product testing, and i use this as mask to help calm my angry acne, and it doesn't work that well. i think clay mask works better for me in downsizing angry acne. i also doesn't notice my acne scars lightened, but since i also use vitamin c serum, it might works well in combination. but it doesn't help much on its own.

i have to say, compared to benton snail essence, i like that one better than this ampoule. in terms of helping to heal acne faster, snail works better for me. but i'm not saying that this one doesn't work. it's just doesn't work better compared to snail. in terms of hydration, both benton snail and this ampoule is very lightweight. both do hydrate my skin, but you would need to layer something else on top of it. but since both is quickly to absorbed, both works well for me in my morning routine. now, from price point, considering this comes in bigger size than benton snail essence, it might be slightly cheaper if you count down to price per weight, even though it's more expensive than benton snail essence. for now, i won't repurchase since i bought another benton snail bee serum. i want to see which one works best for me before deciding on repurchasing. if you have combination to oily skin and sensitive skin that need hydrating products that's also help in calming your skin, you should try it.
