somethinc aha bha peeling solution

as i've said in other post, starting this year, i'd like to try more local brands. there are many local brands that seems to be trustworthy and their products have good quality as well. one of the brands that seems promising is somethinc. though they're famous for their serums, somehow i'm more attracted to their peeling solution, which at first i think would be dupe for the ordinary AHA BHA solution. but later i found out it isn't a dupe. let's see how it goes.

this is the description from their website: get rid of clogged pores for good! AHA 3% BHA 1% PHA 2% help to clean clogged pores, remove dead skin cells and maintain skin moisture level.
how to use: do not use on wet skin. wash your face and wait for skin to dry. use dropper to apply 5-10 drops across face and neck, avoiding the eyes area. leave it not more than 10 minutes. rinse with lukewarm water. can be used 2 times/week.
ingredients: aqua, glycerin, niacinamide, lactobionic acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, hydroxyethylcellulose, daucus carota leaf extract, hibiscus sabdariffa extract, triethanolamine, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, phenoxyethanol.

the packaging: this solution doesn't have any box. it's sealed by plastic sealing on the outer. the bottle is a glass frosted bottle with dropper to dispense the product. since it's quite transparent, you can see the red peeling solution from the outside. there's a label with a bit description on the bottle. however, though i knew that the size would be small, i was still surprised that 20 ml would be that small. anyway.. since i'd only using it once a week, i think it would be enough.

the scent: i don't think how this one smells. sometimes i think it smells like grape juice, a bit sweet and acid. but sometimes i don't think i could smell any scent. anyway, if you could detect any scent, it's very subtle so it won't bother you.

the product: it's red wine liquid. it's really runny so it's a bit hard to avoid it from running to my eyes and lips. so instead of dropping it all over my face, i decided to drop it on one area and spread it around quickly with other hand and then add more if needed. the instruction is to wait around 10 minutes for it to dry, and then wash it off. before i wash it off, i don't feel any hardening or stiffening of the liquid on my face. no discomfort or anything. just a bit tacky. it washes off well without any residue. it's quite transparent though. even though i've piled more drops than recommended, i don't see any redness on my face because of the liquid. while the ordinary one, you can see from people's photos that it would make your face red.

the result: now, i've been trying several acid before this. COSRX AHA and BHA, the ordinary lactic acid and retinoid, and recently drunk elephant retinol. so you can say that my skin is a bit familiar with acid. since this only contains 3% AHA 1%BHA and 1% PHA, i think the concentration is quite low, so i don't experience any side effect. fyi, the ordinary one is AHA 30% and BHA 2%. no pilling, no redness. nothing. as if this liquid doesn't do anything on my face. i still use this once a week (i use retinol three times a week and mud mask once a week, so available slot is only once a week) and it works okay, not creating mayhem to my skin. interestingly, i read recently that even though this is marketed as peeling solution, the concentration is pretty low compared to the ordinary one (thus, not dupe). so it's okay to use this overnight without washing it off. so obviously i want to try the theory. i use it as spot treatment on my acne for several hours and it helps in healing my acne faster. but if you have open scar, don't use it as spot treatment as it will sting as hell.

right: after washing it off
you can't see the difference right?
so, if you're new to acid world, you can try this one as it is very gentle with low concentration. you can even use it longer than the recommendation. if you had more experience with acid, then you should skip this as it might not give you the result that you hope. sometimes i can still see blackhead on my nose, and it doesn't help much in fading acne scar or smoothing skin texture. that's why i don't think i'll repurchase once i finish this bottle. luckily they provide smaller size bottle so i don't need to spend long time to finish this. price wise, for the small bottle it's still affordable, but if they released bigger size, i don't think people would spend that much money when they can buy something else with the same price. as for me, i'm thinking of buying avoskin acid products next.
