missha time revolution night repair probio ampoule

missha time revolution was first well wide known because it's called as a dupe for famous estee lauder ANR serum. but since then, both estee lauder and missha has reformulated their serums, so it's not considered as dupe anymore. i don't think the estee lauder one has undergone many reformulation as missha one. i've tried the original missha time revolution serum back in the day, and i was so-so about it. i skip the borabit one, but apparently people love the borabit version. and now it's name probio ampoule because this time they're using probiotic, a rising main ingredients nowadays. so let's see how it works on my skin.

this is the description on their US website: a powerful night-time ampoule packed with 10 probiotics of different functions that work together to improve the natural strength of your skin. moisturizes, improves wrinkles, improves elasticity, and enhances skin texture. recommended for all skin types.

the box
added label because i bought it from sociolla
the packaging: it comes in a dark purple box. there's description on the box in english and korean, as well as the ingredients list, all written on the box. the bottle is a gradient transparent to dark purple glass bottle with dropper to dispense the product. it looks exactly like the older version, only the color that's changed. the dropper works well. you can adjust the pressure to pick half or full dropper. at the bottom of the bottle, the glass is transparent so you can see the pale gold serum from the outside. there's a bit description at the back of the bottle. it comes in 50 ml which is slightly more than the usual serum size.

the scent: it has that warm scent, but i think it's probably because of all the ingredients mix, not because of added fragrance. as you can see in the ingredients list, they have a lot of flower extract as well, like lavender, sandalwood and bergamot which you can usually see in aromatic essential oil, so i think those ingredients make the subtle scent that i can pick. it's super subtle so i don't think it'd irritate your skin.

the product: the serum is viscous pale gold. slightly thicker than tosowoong propolis ampoule. but still spreadable and absorbed well into my skin. i usually use half to three quarter dropper according to the condition of my skin that day. i usually pat it, and it would give sticky feeling, but it layers well under and over other skincare products that i use. i never experience any pilling with this serum.

the result: right of bat, i can feel the moisturizing effect that this serum gives. no wonder because they pack this serum with lots of moisturizing agents, like glycerin, betaine, squalane, panthenol, and even ceramide. obviously when you're giving your skin enough moisture then sealing it with occlusive, it will plump up your skin and you will see lesser wrinkles. as i haven't experienced any wrinkles yet, i can't say that it works in that area, but no wrinkle means it does work in preventing wrinkles as well. as for skin texture, i don't see any improvement in that area. i can still see a bit of bumps in my skin. it's understandable since this is a moisturizing serum, not acid or something that would works in your pores or regenerates or speeds up skin cell turnovers like retinol or other BHA/AHA products. however, i do think that missha always use too much ingredients. 10 types of probiotics sound too much, compared to the result. i can get similar result using other serum that has less ingredients. and a lot of fruit and plant extracts too. if you have sensitive skin, this might not be a good thing as you might be sensitive to one of the ingredients and they have so many ingredients. it would be pain to find out which one that irritates your skin.

i do think that this serum works well for all skin types. for drier skin, you might want to add something more, but for oily to combination skin, it'd best to use this night time only. as for me, i only use this at night since i also use retinol. so i need to put layers of moisturizing serums to protect my skin barrier. so far it works okay, but i've been using milder retinol too, so i can't guarantee if you're using more potent acid than mine. as for the price, missha price has gone more and more expensive. back when i just knew missha, it was still considered affordable. now, missha price is more expensive than the ordinary or huxley. i was lucky i could get this while on sale, but i don't think i'd repurchase. especially if there's no sale. so, if you're looking for moisturizing serum that has no added fragrance, then this might be a good option for you. but if you're tight on budget, i suggest you try something else. this is not super revolutionary that you have to break your wallet to get it.
