skin aqua uv super moisture gel SPF 50+ PA ++++ (alice in wonderland theme)

going to japan means it's time to stock up on sunscreen. i usually go to japan during summer time, so everywhere we go, i always see sunscreens. however, last time i went there, it was during fall, and not so many sunscreens were put up on display. i always want to get a special edition product, but somehow i can't seem to find it during my first two visits. luckily, the last time i went there, i managed to get the skin aqua in alice in the wonderland theme. anyway, i've tried skin aqua uv moisture gel from singapore before, but i didn't know what's the difference between that one and this limited edition one, so let's see how it goes.

this is the description from their website (please note that it's google translated so it might sound funny): momentary water veil and fresh! light durability up! never burn. feels like water. contains 4 moisturizing ingredients, super hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed collagen, amino acid. commitment to kindness. allergy tested, fragrance free, coloring free, mineral oil free. skin aqua super moisture gel is a fresh gel type sunscreen with the best UV protection in the skin aqua series. light durability technology adopted! contains unique ingredients that prevent the UV cut function from deteriorating due to light. super waterproof that is resistant to sweat and water. you can remove it with soap. for face and body, it is also recommended as a makeup base. we have 110 g of bottles that can be fully used and 140 g of large capacity pumps.
ingredients list: water, ethanol, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (octinoxate), DPG, glycerin, glycol dimethacrylate crosspolymer, BG, Na hyaluronate, Na acetylhyaluronate, hydrolyzed collagen, arginine, bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyltriazine (tinosorb S), ethylhexyltriazone (uvinul T150) (acrylate/alkyl acrylate (C10-30)) crosspolymer, TEA, Bis PEG-18 methylethane dimethysilane, polystyrene, EDTA-2Na, xanthan gum, polyvinyl alcohol.
the packaging
the packaging: as usual, it comes with a cardboard backing where you can read the description at the back in japanese. they just covered the sunscreen with plastic and it's transparent so you can see the bottle from the outside. the bottle itself is a plastic bottle with a pointy gold plastic cap. since this is a limited edition, the body is full of alice in the wonderland picture. there's another description at the back of the bottle in japanese again. mine is the 110 g, and i don't know if there's a limited edition in big size. anyway, the pump one is 140 g, the bigger size.
the bottle
the scent: this one has floral fragrance and i love it. it's noticeable but not super strong that it makes you dizzy. if you're sensitive to scent, just skip this. but if you're like me, you'd like a bit subtle scent in your skincare, then you might like this.
the opening
the product: this is similar to the previous one that i bought from singapore. it's a gel type sunscreen but it's very fluid. i think this one is slightly runnier than the one that i bought from singapore. it comes out as white fluid that you can easily spread around and it will changed into watery traces. it leaves a bit glowy finish at first but if you keep patting it, it will go away. no tacky feeling afterward. this is a chemical sunscreen, so there's no white cast. please note that i think mine is the older version. the ingredient list is for the 2020 version (came out february 2020). the difference is the old one has uvinul A plus while the newer one doesn't. other than that, everything is similar.
sunscreen on my hand
the result: since this is quite fluid, i have to use more than usual. especially on my arms, i slather it on my arms. i have to say it works well. i used this solely during our staycation trip in bali last november, and even though we swam almost everyday, i didn't get any burn. i use it on my face and arm and i don't have any problem, no breakout, nothing. however, i always double cleanse every night, so i can't say anything about the claim that it can be removed just with soap.
after blending it
i have to say i'm glad that i can find something to compete with my old favorite, biore aqua essence. though i have no problem with the latest biore version, it's safer to have another favorite just in case they messed up with reformulation again. unfortunately, i don't think i could get it here. i usually buy skin aqua in singapore. the one that's sold here is different than the ones sold in japan and singapore, so i might have to try them first. anyway, price wise, it's slightly more expensive than biore, but it's still affordable. i believe you could get this online but the price would be better if you could get it straight from japan. gee.. how i wish this pandemic could end soon.. anyway.. i definitely putting this in my repurchasing list but until i could buy it myself, probably i'd start testing local ones for now.
