ariul watermelon hydro glow serum

anyone else buying skincare because of the packaging? well, i'm guilty of charge. i was looking at my skincare sheet, and i realize that i was about to run out of any essence or serums, so i decided to search for new things to try. in my mind, i'm already thinking about a hydrating serum and an anti aging one to substitute the ones that might get run out. i usually use snail product, but there's nothing new that can beat benton snail bee serum, so i think i'd try a simple hydrating product instead. i was eyeing for bellflower serums at first, but their packaging is very simple and clean, a bit boring if i may say.. so i look for other option. then i saw ariul watermelon line. their whole line has pink packaging and it's marketed to add hydration. and by the look of the products, it seems promising, so i steer my choice into ariul. i was planning to get the whole set sample, but i already have too many creams at home, so it might not be a good idea to keep piling things. that's why for now, i decided to try the serum first.

they seal the top part but not the bottom

the packaging: it comes in a pink box with watermelon picture on it. there's a description in korean at the back of the box. since i bought this from sociolla, they put small sticker label with indonesian description on top of the korean description. there's ingredients list written on the box as well. they seal the top of the box with plain sticker, but not the bottom, that's why i could get the bottle out without ruining the seal. the serum comes in a bright pink plastic bottle with white pump head covered in a transparent cap. there's a korean description at the back of the bottle printed in white text. it comes in 55 ml which is an odd size for a serum. usually a serum would comes in 30 ml or if it's bigger, it'd probably about 50 ml. however, i think this serum would not last long, especially if you like hydrating product like this.

the scent: i don't think it smells like watermelon, more like candy. it smells sweet and obviously synthetic. though i enjoy the scent as it's quite refreshing, if you're sensitive to scents, then this might not be a good choice for you. they also clearly stated in the ingredients list that it contains fragrance at the end of the list.

pump head
the product: the serum is transparent gel type serum. i use about two to three pumps for my whole face and neck. that's why i said 55 ml would be gone in no time. though it's quite viscous, but it spreads easily and absorbed easily too. it changes into watery traces the moment you spread it around. after being completely absorbed, there's a slight moist feeling when you touch the skin, but it's not tacky at all. it contains a lot of moisturizing ingredients such as butylene glycol, glycerin, panthenol, as well as triple hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA). there's also ascorbic acid and niacinamide almost at the end in the ingredients list. but considering that they use transparent bottle as packaging, i don't think this serum has potent ascorbic acid for brightening, so don't get your hopes up.
how it looks like on my hand
glowy look after spreading it around

the result: i can feel my skin gets hydrated and a bit moisturized after using this serum. it leaves a bit glowy finish as well. it doesn't feel tacky after being absorbed and it layers well over and under other products in my routine. however, as i've mentioned, though it has ascorbic acid and niacinamide, but probably the concentration are pretty low and probably not a potent ascorbic acid (there's no concentration of the ascorbic acid listed) so i don't see any brightening effect from using this serum for about a month. however, this does a good job in giving extra hydration and making my skin looks glowing.

i do like this serum. it does what it's expected to do. it feels similar to cosrx snail essence. it gives hydration without feeling heavy on my skin. it can layer well with my other skincare products. i don't expect this to brighten my face considering two ingredients in brightening sector are way down in the ingredients list, so if you're looking for a brightening serum, you might have to look for other product. this smells good too. however, added fragrance might be a problem for some people. so if you are sensitive to fragrance, i suggest you try cosrx snail essence. but if you like a bit skintainment, then you should grab a bottle. the price is pretty reasonable too. if you're in indonesia, you can easily get ariul from sociolla. i think it might be suitable for all skin types as long as you don't have any problem with fragrance. as for me, i'll definitely put this in my hydrating serum rotation if i have to repurchase one.
