i decided to declutter some of my makeup. mostly my makeup would be expired by now, but most of them are still okay. i don't notice any difference in its performance nor its color or smell or anything, so i keep using most of them. but i get rid some of lip products, mainly because i never use them anymore, or the color was not my cup of tea anymore. anyway, my lips chapped these days, and most my lip products are matte (they were lip creams anyway), so it hurt my lips even more. i like canmake tinted lip balm but the color is dark enough to put on top of my other lip product, so i decided to look for more subtle color. i was going to get sunniesface tinted lip balm, but i decided to put it on hold and get syca official one. i've seen their brand name here and there on instagram, but i never get the chance to really find out what their products are, so let's begin with their tint balm. i guess they don't have many products for now, but maybe more in the future.
this is the description from their website: lips are sensitive to moisture loss. upgrade your lip product with this tint balm to enhances your natural lip color while also doubling as lip care that moisturizes and offers a subtle pouty effect and keeps lips hydrated for hours. tint balm - a hydrating lip balm with a sheer wash of color that gives you a natural healthy glow. it's a timeless handbag essential. no chapped lips, just glow!
shade 01: soft shell - leaves the lips with slightest wash of peach. just a subtle tint and a bit of plumpness will make it looks totally natural & healthy. why it's special? specially formulated to moisturize your lips with shea butter and jojoba oil that helping to prevent and repair chapping. it contains uv filter and uv absorber for protecting your delicate lips from uv damage. the lightweight texture adds a natural-looking shade to your lips with fresh glowing finish look. a perfect substitute when your lips are too chapped to wear lipstick. the sharp diagonal tip makes it extremely easy to apply, only need one simple swipe.
what's in it: this nourishing tinted lip balm formulated with natural ingredients such as butyrospernum parkii (shea) butter (for moisturizing), simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil for emollient/softening), tocopheryl acetate (synthetic form of vitamin E for antioxidant), uv absorber/filter, polyglyceryl-2 triisostearate, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, polyethylene, squalane, phenyl trimethicone, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, cera microcristallina, glyceryl diistostearate/ hydrogenated rosinate, diisostearyl malate, phenoxyethanol, flavor, titanium dioxide, silica, bisabolol, talc, methicone.
the packaging: since i bought this from sociolla, of course they would send it wrapped with bubble wrap. but if you buy from them straight, they might use different packaging method, so keep that in mind. anyway.. my biggest issue was the packaging. i received a small cloth pouch which has the brand name at front. then inside it there's a small board box where they put the tint lip balm inside. on the box there's another cute picture with shade name written on it. why use double packaging? if they put it inside a box, there's no need for the pouch. i hope they could use less packaging in the future. anyway.. the tint lip balm comes in regular lipstick shape, however, the body is not made of plastic, but feels like cardboard. if it's really cardboard, then it might be more recyclable.. but that's just my guess. there's also a label at the bottom with shade name on it. this tint lip balm comes in 3,5 g which is the usual lipstick size. it's less than my TBS lip balm (4,5 g), but more than canmake tinted lip balm (2,7 g).

the shade: there are only two shades to choose from, soft shell and coral sand. soft shell is described as a wash of peach, while coral sand will give you a flush of pink. both the product pictures look very vibrant in the website, as well as the product swatch. but the "on the model" picture is more accurate. it looks similar to my experience. i pick soft shell as it looks like really subtle. doesn't give a lot of color but still gives some sheen. and it's just what i imagined it. on top of my nude color lipsticks, it works well to add shine without interfering a lot with the color.
ain't the tube and the box looks very girly? |

the product: like i said before, it comes in usual lipstick form, even to the pointy tip. personally, i don't like pointy tip. somehow it is a bit awkward putting it on my upper lips. i prefer slanted tip like canmake one. compared to canmake, this one is bit hard, but still easy to glide on my lips. however, after a few use, i notice that it's warmed up a bit and easier to glide even more.

the result: since this is a tinted lip balm, remember that it won't give you opaque color. one swipe on my lips only gives added sheen, while after two or more swipes, the color starts to show. it's just as described, a wash of peach. not too warm but still on my lips it looks toward orange family. i think if you're super cool tone, the other shade would be more suitable for you. this one works well on top of other nude lip color that i have. in terms of moisture, i'm glad that this one gives moisture to my lips just like canmake one. i was afraid that it would turn out a dud like my previous nyx tinted lip balm. again, this is just a tinted lip balm, so obviously it would vanish after eating or drinking. on its own, you can just add more to touch up. but if you wear other lip product beneath it, especially a matte lip cream, it would better to completely remove and re-do it all than just add more on top.

i have to say i'm satisfied with my first purchase. at first i was afraid that the shade would be off for me, considering that some peach doesn't look good on me. but turns out it looks okay. then it's similar to canmake that i love as well. it's moisturizing my lips and even i use matte lip cream, it helps moisturize my lips so my lips are not as chapped as before now. price wise, it's really affordable. i think you can get it from their official website or from sociolla. i'm curious about their lip tint as well, but considering i still have lots of lip creams to go through, i will have to put that plan on hold. if you feel matte lip cream is too much, and want something more refreshing but not a gloss, then you should consider this tint lip balm. however, they only has two shades for now, so keep that in mind.
