sulwhasoo bloomstay vitalizing water

i guess pandemic made us do things we don't normally do. including me. i've been avoiding buying high end skincare stuff mainly because i believe you don't have to pay lots of money to get the benefit. i bet some drugstore-priced products work well too. you just have to try it yourself. however, since the pandemic started, most high-end brands have been holding sales regularly. and they give extra gifts with purchase as well. one of them is sulwhasoo. obviously i'm interested, but i was hesitated since they have lots of set. yes, i prefer buying sets because i get to try lots of products but not in full size so i can finish them quickly. this might give me the idea especially for face wash and toner which i usually can decided whether or not i like it after finishing a sample size. but for serum or moisturizer, if the size is too small, i probably will need more to make any conclusion. so, i decided to get the bloomstay set and the FCAS set and i got the basic set as freebies. this time i'll try the toner from bloomstay set first. let's see how it goes.

this is the description from their website: bloomstay vitalizing water harmonizes the anti-oxidant energy of plum blossom with yuzu component to leave the skin feeling rejuvenated with a hydrated and smooth finish. skin conditioner with the revitalizing and anti-oxidant energy from the plum blossom: the anti-oxidant properties found in the buds of plum blossoms help care for signs of skin-aging and keep your skin feeling rejuvenated. contains moisturizing properties of yuzu: the moisturizing properties of yuzu leaves the skin feeling firm and balanced. light and watery texture provides rich nourishment: the richly nourishing texture is both light and watery. it helps deliver moisture quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling comfortable with a subtle plum blossom scent.

the packaging: i bought this in a set, so it comes in beautiful pink box. at the back of the box there's a short list of all the products inside. the set includes a full size bloomstay serum (30 ml), FCAS EX in plum blossom scent (15 ml), bloomstay toner (15 ml) and bloomstay cream (5ml). when you open the lid, you can see all the products are placed in a plastic tray, securely so even though they don't put separate seal on each product, they all come in good condition when it's arrived. the toner itself comes in a small plastic bottle with pink plastic screw cap. it comes in 15 ml which is not a lot for a toner sample. the opening is the usual size for toner sample, but since the toner is not super watery, it doesn't spill instantly when i tilt the bottle over.

the scent: as you can read in the ingredients list, there's an added fragrance in it. all bloomstay products have the same scent, if not similar. they smells very fragrant, floral scent. not super overwhelming, but if you're used to japanese unscented products, the scent will definitely hit your nose quite easily. and it lingers quite some time. i do have sensitive nose and usually too fragrant scent might make me dizzy, but luckily this one doesn't. probably because i don't use the whole line together, so the scent of toner is not lingering too long. once i put other product on top of the toner, i barely can smell it unless i sniff my hands.

the bottle opening
the product: as i've mentioned, this is a watery toner but not super watery like water. there's a bit viscosity in it so it doesn't spill out of the bottle once i tilt it over. it spreads easily all over my face. it takes seconds to be completely absorbed.
how it looks like on my hand
after patting it in
the result: the first time, i don't use enough amount so my skin doesn't get enough hydration or anything from this toner. the second time i use a little bit too much. but somehow it doesn't give any problem. my skin still can absorbed all of it well. i just need to massage it a bit and pat it a little bit more. i can say that this toner gives a good balance of hydration and moisture. somehow the feeling is in between muji moisture toner and joylab moisture bomb toner. the muji one is more lightweight, giving more hydration than moisture while the moisture bomb gives more moisture and feels a bit rich. this toner contains alcohol, as you can see in the ingredients list. i think that's why this toner is quickly absorbed and smells a bit like alcohol for the first few uses. i don't have any problem with alcohol in my skincare, but if you are, then you have to be cautious.

gee.. i was afraid i might like this toner before trying this. and i was right. i do like this toner. somehow it gives the right balance of hydration and moisture. i can say that if you have oily to combination and skin and want to try sulwhasoo product, then i guess the bloomstay line would be a good option for you. the toner works perfectly for my skin. now i wish they give more in the sample rather than just 15 ml. if you have dry skin, you can still use the toner. it's layerable, so you can add more. the full size comes in 150 ml, which is a good size for a full size toner. but the price is still expensive for a toner. i have to say even though i like it, i probably wouldn't buy the full size one merely because i think i can layer other toner to achieve similar result. but if you have the budget and want to splurge on this one, i can say go for it as this is a good one.
