sulwhasoo first care activating serum and EX (sample)

pandemic made me changed my mind. i've been interested in sulwhasoo for a long time but i keep pending buying them because i was afraid that once the price went back to normal, i won't be able to repurchase it. but i thought they've been holding sales quite regularly now, so it won't hurt buying some kit. so i did. i bought the bloomstay one as i thought it would be suitable for my skin type better and the basic one as i wanted to try the best selling FCAS. both sets came with GWPs, so not bad.. i've tried most of the bloomstay line, and this time i'll be trying the FCAS freebies that came with the FCAS set.

the packaging: since these are the freebies they don't come with any box. well, they do placed the FCAS set and the freebies in a big box, but there's no special box for the freebies. the bottle is white plastic chubby shape bottle that is similar to the full size one. it has yellow pump head and yellow plastic cap. i think they use airless pump system since i can't crack them open to make sure i use all the product. there's a bit description at the back in korean. both freebies come in 8 ml. i think the packaging is quite deceiving since there's a small FCAS EX in the basic set that is also 8 ml and the bottle is thin, while this one is chubbier. but i have to praise the pump in all the freebies since it's easy to dispense the product using the pump. anyway, the FCAS EX comes in the basic kit which is the freebies for the blooomstay set. so it comes in a yellow/white box and they place all the products on a plastic tray.

the scent: all the original FCAS and the FCAS EX have subtle hanbang scent which is sulwhasoo's signature. i thought the scent would be much stronger, but i'm glad that it doesn't. the eye cream's scent is stronger, which is weird since product for eye area might be better unscented since they're quite sensitive. and if you're wondering whether the scent is natural or added one, it's an added one since they clearly put fragrance in the middle of the ingredients list.
the FCAS EX bottle (look how slim it is compared to the freebies, and they are all 8 ml)

the product: it's a golden brown gel type serum. if i could describe it, it looks like brownish maple syrup. it has a slight gel texture that makes it a bit viscous, but once you spread it around, it melts easily to my skin. it takes seconds to be absorbed and doesn't leave tacky feeling. but i have to warn you this contains alcohol denat which may contribute with the fast absorbing, but if you're avoiding alcohol, you might want to try some sample first. if you never try this one, this is called first care activating serum because you're supposed to use this first after washing your face, more like FTE. you can experience using this after toner, but for me, i like to use this before toner as this is more lightweight than my toner. anyway, i try to find the difference between the EX and the original one, but i can't find any. judging by the look, it looks exactly the same.

the result: no wonder this is a best selling. it's fast absorbing but gives hydration that my skin needs after washing it. somehow it boosts the effect of the next product that i use afterward. with regular use, i can see my skin condition is improving. when i started trying sulwhasoo products, my skin has been acting up. i suffered from acnes and it didn't heal as quickly as it used to be. but after using sulwhasoo products especially the FCAS (and other things of course), my skin started to heal better. it looks more glowy after time and more supple. and i don't feel any difference between the EX and the original one.

totally recommend this one if you wanted to try sulwhasoo. i think this might be suitable for all skin type. definitely try this one first if you have the budget. they come in various sizes, from sample sizes to 30/60/ to even the giant ones, so make sure you wait for some sales and splurge. for me, if i have to pick which one i want to repurchase, definitely i'll be saving my money for the FCAS one.
