when hubby was away last month, he offered to buy me something in exchange for him being absent and left me with all the kids (dealing with two toddlers and a baby is a challenging task). and he told me that there's sephora in penang, so i asked him to buy me the peter thomas roth mask set, the 6 piece one. and he got it! yayyy! although he was grumpy about the price, hahaha... so, as a gratitude, i started to use one of it and the black one is my first pick.
this is the description from their website: a purifying, decongesting, and hydrating mask with odorless irish moor mud to draw out dirt, oil and impurities as it infuses skin with moisture and vitamins. solutions for pores, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness. irish moor mud rids the skin of dirt, oil and impurities - infusing it with essential moisture and vitamins. black hijiki seaweed provides vital nutrition and hydration as volcanic ash helps revitalize and detoxify skin. activated charcoal has a magnetic effect that draws impurities and toxins from congested pores. this mask helps minimize the look of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, leaving skin looking pure, fresh, hydrated and radiant.
the packaging: all of the masks comes in a colorful box with the description of each mask at the back of the box. the mask itself comes in a plastic tube, each has the their own color to differentiate each one. the iris moor mud's tube is black.
the scent: i don't pick any scent, if there is any, then it's very subtle and not annoying.
the product: the mask itself is also black. it's very creamy, easy to spread on my face. now, luckily i've read some other reviews before using it. i thought that it being a mud mask, it will harden like clay mask. but turns out i was wrong, it won't harden. since it's very creamy, it's also easy to wash-off. but unfortunately, it being black is a trouble. it stains my washcloth. and i've tried washing it off without washcloth, and it takes awhile. but it's acceptable. although the tube is small, it's enough to use it for numerous times. especially if you're using it on your t-zone only, like i use mine most of the times.
the result: the first time using it, i experienced breakout. but not that bad. the second time, no breakout. this one promise to infuse skin with moisture, and i have to agree. although it's a purifying mask, it didn't dry out my skin, unlike most clay masks. but it's not that moisturizing either. there's no cooling sensation too. after washing it off, i can see that my skin is a little bit brighten. perhaps because it helps getting rid of the dullness and make it radiant, just as promised. but it doesn't hold long. i can't see it the next morning, but my skin is calmer after using this mask.
this is definitely a good buy. this is a good mask for those who have combination or oily skin, that might benefit from a good purifying mask. especially if you don't like the tightening feeling that usually caused by clay mask. but on the downside, this one doesn't come cheap. you might want to try samples or gift set like mine before jumping in buying the full size. but i bet it's worth your money. hubby said it'd better be. hahaha...
