the body shop ginger scalp serum

i want to try more body shop products so bad because their products that work for me are their body products, like body butter and hand cream, and lip balms. i tried their skincare but it doesn't work well for me. i do like their hair mask, but i want to try something else, so this time i decided to try their scalp serum.

this is the description from their website: enriched with ginger essential oil, our new serum intensely nourishes and helps rebalance your scalp. a few drops are all it takes to soothe dryness between washes. swishable hair starts with a healthy scalp. use regularly with our ginger scalp care shampoo and ginger scalp care conditioner for a healthier-feeling scalp and stronger, healthier-feeling hair.
vegan, intensely nourishes the scalp, so it looks and feels healthier. helps rebalance the scalp from excess oils and sebum. soothes dry, flaky scalps between washes. enriched with ginger essential oil from Sri Lanka, white willow and birch bark extracts. non-oily and fast-absorbing formula. dermatologically tested.
main ingredients:
- ginger essential oil: zingiber officanale root oil to its friends, this stuff is known for its purifying properties and pleasantly zingy smell.
- birch bark extract: you get this extract from the bark of birch trees.
ingredients list: aqua, propanediol, hydroxyethylcellulose, polysorbate 20, glycerin, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, butylene glycol, pentylene glycol, arginine, lactic acid, salix alba bark extract/ salix alba (willow) bark extract, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, glycine soja germ extract, triticum vulgare germ extract/ triticum vulgare (wheat) germ extract, trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, hydroxyphenyl propamidobenzoic acid, fragrance, sodium hydroxide, betula alba bark extract, epilobium angustifolium flower/leaf/stem extract, gluconolactone, linalool, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, zingiber officinale root oil/zingiber officinale(ginger) root oil, limonene, sodium benzoate, citronellol, citral, eugenol, benzyl alcohol, geraniol, ascorbyl palmitate, sodium metabisultife, calcium lactate.

the packaging: it comes in dark green glass bottle with dropper to dispense the product. there's a big ginger label at front and at the back there's description in indonesian. at first, i don't mind with the packaging. but the bottle is quite heavy. unfortunately, i didn't know that the dropper is made of glass as well and i dropped it and it shattered. luckily, i had several empty plastic bottle so i can transfer them and the bottle use pump to dispense the product. after transferring it, i realize that using pump is better to use this hair serum. now i hope they would change the packaging. it comes in 50 ml.
the bottle
the scent: it has faint ginger scent but it's not annoying. a bit weird though as usually my hair products smell fragrant, but this one smells spicy.
description at the back
the product: the serum is more like oil in consistency. it's light yellow and a bit viscous. however, it's easy to massage onto my scalp and it doesn't feel sticky or greasy as long as i use it on damp hair.

the result: before this one, i use erhair hair tonic that helps with hairloss, but it doesn't seem to work. for this one, i agree that it helps soothe dryness on my scalp, but i still need to exfoliate my scalp at least once a week. however, it doesn't help much with itchiness. sometimes i still get dandruff but it will vanish after i exfoliate my scalp with erhair hair gel. however, i notice i can prolong duration between washes and my hair doesn't look greasy even though i exercised daily. once i experienced itchiness in between washing and i tried using this on my scalp. surprisingly, it helped with the itchiness and it didn't make my hair greasy the next day.

so far i don't have any complaints about this one. it works okay to help with my scalp condition. the only problem is the packaging. i know that they use glass so it's completely recyclable, but i do hope they will think about how someone might drop the dropper and it will be difficult to use the hair serum without dropper.
