huxley oil; light and more

if you've been reading my previous posts, you might know that i bought huxley sample set. it has 4 huxley famous essence/serum/oil all at once. i've tried all but this one, and there's some good and miss, so let's see whether i like this last one or not. i never tried facial oil before, and being an oily skin in my teen days, i'm a little bit hesitant to try facial oil. but as i'm getting older, i realize that my skin is going toward the other end. i'm trying to try richer serum, but some of them breaks me out. so i'm a little confused right now. seeing that people say that this oil is very lightweight and suitable for beginner, i decided to give this one a go.

this is the description from their singapore's website: a lightweight facial oil providing superior hydration enhanced with huxley's signature prickly pear cactus oil. quickly absorbed, this facial oil revitalizes skin while protecting and fortifying the skin from daily stress.
key ingredients:
- prickly pear seed oil: moisturizes skin, antioxidant
- sunflower seed oil: moisturizes skin
- squalane: creates the skin's natural barrier/ moisturizes skin
- jojoba seed oil: eliminates free radicals/moisturizes skin
- abyssinian seed oil: improves skin texture/ boosts radiance

the packaging: since i bought a set, it comes in a plastic box that has a bit of description at the back of the box in korean. but the text is printed white, so it's not that clear on transparent plastic. there's a slider inside that has all 4 serums inside. all the bottles are the same. it's a tiny glass bottle with a mini dropper on top. it has a bit description on the body. it's only 5 ml per bottle, but it's enough for about 2-3 weeks use.

the little bottle
the scent: this has similar scent just like the other, but if i can say, it has a little bit more jasmine's scent. but it's really subtle just like the other. i believe the scent is exclusive to huxley, so probably their products will smell almost similar to each other.
the mini dropper
the product: it's a transparent yellow oil, very runny, that's why people said that it's very lightweight. i have no problem spreading it around. one bottle can last me about a month use since i only use very little. i've tried this twice. the first one, i would put a drop on each part of my face before spreading it all over my face. and i feel it's too much. i can see it's not being absorbed, so i stopped using it. and after another failure trial of other product, i decided to give this one another go. this time i only use three drops for my whole face. one for each of my cheeks and one that i drop on my forehead and let it drip down to my nose.
oil on my hand
the result: this one contains squalane, which is also an ingredients from my previous retinoid serum. i don't like the squalane combination because it makes my skin greasy and i keep wondering whether my skin will absorb the product or not since i keep seeing the oily glow on my face. so, this time around, i also keep asking the same thing. especially since my first trial didn't work well. my skin will look glowy because of the oil, but the next morning, i can see that my skin is not as plump as when i used the oil in essence one. like my skin is drying underneath. my skin looks dull and i have several breakouts, so i stopped. then i tried using less product, and it works well. this time, i can feel that the oil is sinking to my skin. it gives glowy look on my face, but as time goes by, it dries down. that's why i think i'm sure that this time my skin can absorb the product. this time, i can feel it gives nourishing and plumping effect.
after spreading it
honestly, i have a mixed feeling. i'm glad that finally i can make it work for my skin. but i'm using very little. i can't be sure that if i bought the full size, i'll finish the whole bottle before it's getting bad. also, the scent is a bit too flowery for my taste. if you have dry skin, i think it'll work better for you, but if you have normal to combination skin, it might work, but you have to be extra cautious. a sample like this is wiser since you can see whether it'll work or not. as for me, i've decided that i like the grab water (very good for oily to combination skin) and the oil essence one (bit richer version of the grab water one), i'm on the fence about the oil, and don't like the bright essence. i'm buying the oil in essence one, if you're curious. i can definitely say that buying the set is a good choice. i hope they keep selling the set and not making it limited edition.
