  • About me
for you on northern part of the earth, spring is coming. and obviously, it would change your wardrobe. you would dress lighter according to the weather, and use colors. it was spring anyway.. flowers' blooming everywhere, a little bit sunshine and nice weather.. obviously it would made you to dress up! there were several trends from asos that i wanted to try..

1. block stripes : a bit nautical. i had a black and white stripes tee.. and i have been searching for black and white stripes skirt. but i haven't found one that had decent length. it was short or a little bit transparent.

2. florals: i had a pink floral pencil skirt. it was short for college wear, but i could wear it to church and other occasion. i had my eye on several floral flare skirt and pants, but the sizes weren't right. just wait and see though. i wanted the black floral pants from one online shop, but they were out of stock right now. i wasn't sure though about the black floral pants, there were 2 prints, one was black with white big roses. the other was black with colorful floral patterns. i wasn't sure if the muted one could suit me perfectly. i was worried that big prints would make my ass look bigger. hahaha...

3. pastels: ooohhh.. color was my weakness. sometimes i wanted to buy an item in every color that they had! especially when you looked at those colors.. blue..mint.. baby pink.. lavender.. how pretty! plus, pantone declared that lavender was their color of the year. hmm.. i didn't have any purple or lavender item in my wardrobe. probably i would hunt for a lavender shirt next time. oh and i have mentioned in previous post that i wanted color pants. i would inform you which one i bought for sure.

until then, keep stylish ladies!
probably in several places especially on nothern part of the earth, people were preparing for spring. while here in indonesia, it's sunny all year round. soo.. everyday is spring/summer to us. well, right now we were having rainy season, which is why probably autumn/winter outfit can be used here as well. lately the weather was creepy. it was bright and clear sky, but then in couple minutes, heavy rain came storming a perfectly nice afternoon. *sigh* and sometimes, there were a mini twister, something that i didn't get to see when i was a kid. that means the weather was changed pretty drastic from 10-20 years ago. i guess we should really try hard to save the earth.

but, i didn't want to talk about the weather, i wanted to talk about color pants. for those who were waiting for spring, color items like pastel pants or skirts probably would be on your wanted list. and for us here in indonesia, or other tropical country, we usually just followed the other world's trend. and lately, i was addicted to instagram. not to posted pictures, but to some online shop at instagram. some of them sold color pants. 46 colors to choose. and it was pretty funny. the sizes only divided into all size, xxl and xxxl. the waist had  a rubberband inside so you could adjust the waist. the rest was standard sizes. all size were meant for those who use 26-30 in terms of jeans number. i bought some, and tried it. it was fit the waist. but the length of the pants were shorter after washing. it shrunk a bit, i guess. i wanted to buy the bigger size, but i didn't sure which color to pick. the first two pants were light khaki and light grey. the light khaki was nearly similar to my skin tone, so if the light wasn't right, it would look as if i didn't wear any pants. hahaha..

when i browsed jseverydayfashion facebook, i found several inspirations about the color. there were two colors that i was fond of, mint and light peach/baby pink. but i didn't sure if the online shop had those two. but i did find a color that i wanted from their shop, a fuchsia. *sigh* probably i just waited for next month and think well before buying. right now, you could see some inspirations from j about how to style mint and peach pants. which one is your favorite?

hurray!! my internet is back online!! yipeee!! we had a stormy rain a couple of weeks ago, a day before mount kelud errupted, and it affected my internet. hiks.. i had to go to mcd if i wanted to search anything online. but today, it was okay for good. finally!!!

okay. i had to admit, i was very very late in terms of trying the nyx soft matte lip cream. i wasn't into makeup before, so i had no idea about these babies. and then i learnt about makeup and i didn't into lipstick or lip color as crazy as i do now, so forgive me for not knowing these gorgeous lip cream.

What they said about it:
it was neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. soft matte lip cream is surprisingly durable and unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.

Right now, there are 22 shades of this babies, 9 were new this 2014. and i just tried 2! i had my eye on ibiza, cannes and zurich though.. hopefully there were sales somewhere so i could get them cheaper.. i love how they named each shade, it helped me remember the color. each name were name of a city worldwide.. so it was fun!

i had two at the moment, antwerp and sao paulo. i had difficulties finding antwerp. the counter didn't have it, and most of online store here in indonesia said that antwerp was sold out. haiss.. but after waiting for almost 2 months, i finally got them. i tried them, and i had to say i loved them so far.

the color: both antwerp and sao paulo were vibrant. one swipe was enough. the color pay off was good. at my first try, i didn't even dare to apply sao paulo straight from the applicator. i dabbed on my lips and use my finger to smooth it. the color was pretty! antwerp was a mid tone yellow pink (that's what the website said), but some beauty blogger described it a mid-pink-coral tone. sao paulo was a plummy pink, or deep pink. both were suitable for any skin tone. antwerp was a little bit bright for light skin tone, but it would be great for medium skin tone. and sao paulo probably was brighter for light skin, but it would be gorgeous for medium to dark skin tone.

the formula : i never had a matte lip color, so this was my first try. i was concern about the formula since i had a pretty easily-dried lips. i had to wear lip balm before applying certain lipstick, and i was worried that the lip cream will dry my lips out. but it didn't happen. though i still wear lip balm underneath, but it wasn't drying at all. even some of my lipstick was more drying that this lip cream. there was a slight difference in the formula between antwerp and sao paulo. though both were applied smoothly, but i noticed antwerp quickly set into my lip lines and even sometimes looked patchy.

the durability : didn't test for sure, but antwerp diminished quicker than sao paulo.

overall, it was a great lip cream! i wanted moreeee... *sigh*
left: antwerp and sao paulo (L-R)
right : sao paulo and antwerp arm swatch (L-R)

both were sao paulo : left were used more as lip stain (i use my finger to smooth it)

right now, who didn't love kate middleton? i guess every girls in the world envied her. her position as the duchess obviously did some miracle work on her wardrobe. i didn't say that she didn't have good style before marriage, but obviously, her wardrobe after the wedding was wayyy better than before the wedding. and probably a slight change.. since she was a duchess and all, she had to dress appropriately, and elegantly.

here were some numbers that i like. two of them were long dresses and two of them were sheath dresses. yes, i know.. another sheath dresses..somehow i just kept falling for sheath dresses.

1. what can i say about this soft lavender gown? it was light, flowy and the color was just right. somehow i didn't like purple color family, but in pastel like this soft lavender, the hue was just right. ugh.. i wish i could have one just like that...

2. a girl just need some sparkles. this dress was simple, but the sparkles gave the "wow". the transparent flowy arms made it look like it had sleeves, probably since the queen couldn't wear sleeveless piece? anyway.. it was another great night dress that i would like to have.

3. this sheath dress was simple. just like the other dresses. one thing i like about kate is that she always prefer clean and simple cut. and the lining around the collar and sleeves added enough to make the piece looked more than a plain dress.

4. ah. the lace dress. what can i say about lace dress. it was sooo beautiful and elegant at the same time. sheath dress and the knee length dress made it okay for office wear. i had searched for a lace dress like this one, but still couldn't find any. i hoped i could find something similar like this. *cross my finger*

so far i could only find 4 pictures of the duchess that i like. i remembered saw a bunch more but i couldn't find it anymore. well, until i could find another pictures of her, keep stylish ladies!
actually, before reading about her style in pulse, i didn't know her style. all i know about her was that she was a victoria secret model, she came from australia, married to orlando bloom (now divorced) and had a son. a cute and stylish son. hahhaa.. as a model, obviously she got some good sense in styling, and access to good stuff, which i didn't have.. but again, we could copy her style in a lot more cheaper way.

what i like about her : though she had various style, i liked her when she wore casual formal style. the looked can be formal enough for work, and at the same time, with some adjustment, it could be casual. she didn't wear a lot of accessories, so it was easy to copy. i wasn't an accessory person either. she mixed prints, bold color with neutral items. sooo.. let's view some of her style that i love.

1 & 3. printed skirts. both were printed skirts, one was some random prints, the other was floral prints. this year i wanted some variations in my wardrobe. i already started with putting a lot more colors into my wardrobe. now prints. floral was the safest one to start with. and i had only one floral pencil skirt. obviously, another flare floral skirt and floral pants would be in my shopping list once i found the "it" one. the first one, miranda wore the printed skirt with a plain shirt. and the other one she wore it with plain t-shirt. both were good examples about the formal-casual that i mentioned before.

2. white blazer, nude tops, and jeans. this was a perfect combination for wearing a blazer everyday way. not to office wear thanks to the jeans. but simple enough thanks to simple cut of everything. the blazer, and the tops were ordinary. no ruffles, no nothing. it was just plain enough to look casual. changed the jeans to black pants and it would be suitable for office.

4. leopard shirt. i always wanted to wear something wild like leopard print, but i didn't have the courage yet. all i had was a printed shirt that looked like leopard, but it wasn't. miranda wore it with black jeans and adding a bold yellow bag. a pop of color. probably i would just start with leopard shoes. hahaha..

5. black side-panel pants. the black panel added something to a boring khaki pants. and the black panel brought a slimming effect too. this was probably hard to copy, since i couldn't find any brand or shop that sell something like this.

6. what can i say about the dress? it has 3/4 sleeves and the hem of the skirt was knee-length so it was appropriate for office wear. but it had unusual collar for a skirt. and it was pretty revealing which was suitable for a date night. i wanted to get a dupe of this dress, but i had to be careful of the quality. meanwhile, i'll just use the dress that i had before getting a new one.

these were just a few examples, and i believe miranda had a lot more to copy from. until then, keep stylish!
okay. i was fair enough. but my face was darker than my neck and the rest of my body, so it made it more difficult in finding the best shade, especially for foundation. even the BA at mac was confused. if she applied it on my face, NC suit me better. but if she compared it with my neck and chest, NW suit me better. *sigh* that's why i wanted to use whitening cream for my face.. just so the color matched my neck.

since i didn't want to change my moisturizer again, the option fell to night cream. i had no problem with the previous olay total effects night cream, but since i wanted the whitening effect, i changed it to olay white radiance night cream. i was confused since there were 2 types, but when i asked the BA, she said that's only a difference in packaging. they still had some old stock on display. so i bought the new packaging.

what they said about it: it was for revitalized fairness. it helps allow skin to quietly reveal the fairness of inner skin in 3 steps:
revitalizes - vitamin b3 provides cellular energy for skin to enhance skin's renewal process.
works - olay whitening complex (vitamin b3, mulberry extracts, vitamin c) that actively reduces spots and evens out skin tone while you sleep.
nourishes - multiple vitamins and rich moisturizing mixture to efficiently achieve better texture, clarity and glowing radiance for your skin.

the packaging: it also came in a pot with metalic top. but the pot was glass, not plastic like the total effect. so it was similar to my l'oreal moisturizer.
the product : it was a broken white cream, slightly runnier than the total effects night cream. and it didn't smell as nice as total effects.

so far, all i hate about it was the packaging (a big pot.. another pot..) and the smell. i only used it for 3 days now, so i didn't know the whitening result. i would take a photo on one month, 3 months application. hopefully we could see some different.

i had to admit, this cleanser i bought since i heard a lot of hype about it. though i wasn't sure it was available here. but then i found one in guardian. oh well, why not try it? my erha facial cleanser was also running out. soo.. i bought one for oily skin cleanser.

there were several types of cetaphil cleansers, the famous one was gentle skin cleanser. my sister said that the cleanser could be use for body and face. okay. let's see what they said about it.
cetaphil oil skin cleanser provides effective cleansing for oily, combination or blemished skin. its gentle foaming action removes oil, dirt, skin debris and makeup without leaving your skin dry and importantly, without the tightness that results from soap-based cleansers. it is formulated to remove oil without affecting the skin barrier. cetaphil oily skin cleanser does not clog pores and can be used in conjunction with acne medication.

there were 2 sizes, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), when i bought it, the bigger one was not available, so i bought the smaller one. the bigger one had pump on it, while the smaller one didn't. the shape of the bottle was unusual, and it was bigger than normal facial cleanser bottle.
the performance : it didn't cause the tightness feeling after washing my face, so i guess the promotion was true.
the let down: ugh.. i couldn't stand the smell! even my erha facial cleanser didn't smell like a medicated cleanser. this one smell like medicine!

verdict: won't buy it if i found something worked as good as cetaphil but smell nicer.
