  • About me
when i knew i was going to korea, i wanted to take a color personality test. however, since it was a short notice, i almost couldn't book one. then i managed to book one but a day before my appointment, they informed me that they had to cancel. they tried to book another one but it was after my flight to japan, so they agreed to refund me. but on the day i supposed to take the refund, they informed me that they had an opening, just a day before my flight. i took it. anyway, i had a feeling that the result would be the complete opposite of what i've been doing and i was right. my result is light spring and the colors they suggested were the ones i never, or rarely use. for lip makeup, they said that coral suits me best. the consultant gave me a few options to try, and surprisingly, her choice did make my complexion look brighter! i didn't get the chance to buy any of her recommendation when i was in korea, but i found a lip tint in japan, so i decided to get one. the dasique one.

this is the description from their US website: a fuller lip effect- hydrating oil in formula hugs lips with shine and blurs the look of wrinkles to deliver the appearance of fuller lips. non sticky, lightweight texture - adds fresh colors to your lips without leaving any stickiness. moisturizing - pamper your lips with vivid color, while locking dewy moisture.
the lip tint
the packaging: it comes in a coral box with maybe ingredients list printed at the back. you can read the shade name on top/bottom of the box. since i bought this in japan, everything is written in japanese. the lip tint comes in the same color as the box, which is bright coral. at the bottom, you can see a bit of transparent column so you can see the remaining product inside. the lip tint it shaped like a long box, which is not usual since most brands opted for a tubular shape. it comes in 3.5 g which is not much, so hopefully i can finish it. the wand is attached to the top part and the applicator has a doe foot shape.
shade name in japanese
the color: i think they're still broadening this line since there are newer shades coming late 2023. at first, they have 7 shades. but then they added the summer coral collection that comes in 5 shades. one of them is the chili sherbet. chili sherbet is a coral shade, leaning toward orange with a bit of red as well.
doe foot applicator
the product: it's gel type lip tint. it's runnier than somethinc lip tint so i have to problem spreading it out. the applicator works well and i can apply the lip tint on my lips evenly with the applicator. it feels a bit sticky, but it's not much.
left: full face swatch
top right: hand swatch
bottom right: lip swatch
the result: the lip tint appears a bit transparent at first, but it's buildable. you can build up the opacity of the color by layering the tint. luckily it's not as sticky as somethinc's. at first, it looks glossy..really glossy and wet, but soon, the glossiness goes away. the stain is different from shade to shade. since chili sherbet is a bright shade, the stain that it left is pretty visible. longevity wise, i don't think it's long wearing. after eating and drinking, especially oily food, the stain won't even stay. since it doesn't last long, i end up reapplying it every few hours or after eating heavy meal.

i have to say that i'm quite surprised to learn that the coral/orangish shade that i always stay away from is working for me. my face looks brighter when i put it on. even the translator in my consultation session looked surprised to see the difference as well. this lip tint is good for daily, but if you're looking for a long lasting one, then you should avoid this. as for me, i think i won't repurchase since there are a lot of lip products out there that's similar to this shade and has the same feel. trying one is enough for me. if you like lip tint and like to have a good selection of colors, then this is a good choice. however, since dasique is not available here, and price wise it's not as affordable as in korea, then you might want to think twice if you get this elsewhere.
when i went to the US, obviously i bought some skincare products to try. i wanted to try retinol, because obviously, the western creates better and stronger retinol because their skin needs stronger one than asian's. but i didn't know what to buy. so when i was walking around their supermarket, i found a lot of drugstore products, and one of them is cerave. i found out they have retinol. so yeah, i blindly bought it and hoped that it would work for me.

this is the description from their website: anti-aging retinol serum for fine lines. retinol is an essential ingredient in any anti-aging skincare routine. a retinol serum is an effective product for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture and radiance. when looking for a face serum to add to your skincare routine, look for ingredients like ceramides that help restore and protect your skin barrier. it may take some time for your skin to adat to retinol, so plan to slowly work your way up to daily use to avoid skin irritation. to help your skin look and feel its best, look for a face serum formulated with hydrating and calming ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.
cerave skin renewing retinol serum is a gentle, yet effective daily retinol serum that provides your skin with a variety of anti-aging benefits. our retinol face serum is formulated with ingredients like hyaluronic acid for extra hydration, niacinamide to soothe, and three essential ceramides that work together to lock in moisture and help restore your skin's protective barrier. it's also formulated with MVE technology that encapsulates ceramides to ensure efficient delivery within your skin's barrier and slow release over time, supporting your protective skin barrier long after you've finished applying.
the box

more description on the side
the packaging: it comes in a white box with purple combination. the color combination is different for each type, even the retinol has two different colors, the light green one and the purple one. i honestly don't know what's the difference. there's description at the back in english as well as the ingredients list. the bottle is a plastic bottle with the same color combination as the box. the body is white and purple with white pump head which is covered with a transparent plastic cap. i have no problem with the pump as it works well. there's another description at the back of the bottle. the serum comes in 30 ml, which is the standard size of any serum.
the bottle
the scent: there's this distinctive scent that most retinol serum has. and this one has it too. but it's not annoying or anything. it doesn't bother me at all.
pump head
the product: it's a pale yellow lotion-like serum. it's still runny so i can spread it around easily. the pump works well to dispense the serum so i have no problem with it. i can control the amount of serum but usually i use one to two pumps of serum for my whole face and neck. it layers well with my other skincare products and it doesn't pill or anything. i usually use this right after toner and i use it every other day because i use other active at the moment.
left: how it looks like on my hand
right: after spreading it around
the result: right after spreading it around, i can feel that this one is slightly moisturizing. it's no wonder since they add some hydrating and moisturizing agents in this serum. as i've said, i use this every other night, but when i was traveling, i didn't bring other actives, so i use it every night and it didn't cause any dryness whatsoever. this helps smoothen smaller bumps and it helps calming down cystic acne. however, the calming result is not instant. it takes a few days to lessen the bump. but for active acne, i can't see significant progress aside from speeding up the maturing progress? this also doesn't help to prevent acne at bay.

i'm quite happy with my purchase as this one works well. it can eradicate smaller bumps and it makes my face smooth without drying it out even though i use it every day. however, i do wish that it can help keep acne at bay, which this serum fails to do. anyway, if you're looking for a drugstore retinol serum, this is a good affordable option. however, since cerave is not avaible here (it's just enter the market and i don't see the retinol among their products) so it will not be as affordable as in the US, so unless i can get my hands straight on them, i won't repurchase. there are local brand retinol serums that work as good as this. but if you're curious about thsi one and you have the budget, then sure do give it a try. it's a solid product in my opinion.
when i went to the US, it coincided with my birthday month, so when i shopped something for the first time, may it be at ulta or sephora, i immediately got the birthday gift. when i shopped at sephora, there were several options for the birthday gift, but only two that caught my eyes. the set from glow recipe and the set from ilia. however, i knew i won't use several items in glow recipe set, so at the end i picked ilia. the set had two items, the multi stick and the mascara. i've heard nothing about them before so this was a blind pick.

this is the description from their website: ilia's limitless lash mascara is an award-winning clean mascara that goes above and beyond the expectations of any natural mascara. buildable and flake-resistant, this 99% naturally derived mascara lifts, curls, lengthens and adds just the right amount of volume. ilia's lightweight and nourishing mascara is made with a blend of organic bee and carnauba waxed to weightlessly condition each lash, while still keeping them lifted throughout the day. gentle enough for sensitive eyes, the 99% naturally derived formula also contains organic shea butter and fortifying arginine (keratin) to help boost and enhance your lashes. after testing over 100 mascara wands, we landed on our patented dual-sided brush for a perfectly natural application. use the shorter side to curl and create volume, then the longer bristles to lift, lengthen and separate. ilia's limitless mascara can be effortlessly removed with water at the end of the day - no scrubbing or tugging required.
the box
the packaging: this is a set so it comes in a box with the picture of the products inside at front. there's description at the back for both products. inside there are two compartments that placed the multi-stick and the mascara inside. the mascara comes in a white plastic mascara tube with nothing but the brand name on it. the tube felt matte? i don't know how to describe it, but it's not slick like other mascara tube. the wand is short since this is a mini size. it only comes in 3 g so i should be able to finish it quick.
description at the back
the color: i think there's only one shade, which they call it midnight. basically it's black.
left: the mascara
right: the multistick
the product: the bristles on the brush has two sides. one side has a short bristles, while the other side has a fine-tooth comb-like bristles. the short one is to load the eyelashes with mascara while the comb-like is to brush the lashes and separate them. since the difference is quite visible, it's easy to find which side is which. even though it's made of plastic, the bristles doesn't hurt my lashes.
the mascara brush
the result: i think it works well in adding volume and length but not so much with the curl. if i load my lashes with too much mascara, it will weigh it down. and i don't know why, but i think this one smudge a bit after putting it on for hours. maybe because i don't powder my face anymore so it might smudge because of it. anyway, it doesn't clump easily so i can work my way to add volume without being afraid that it might be clumpy too easily.
top: before - second pic: after mascara. look how it adds slight volume to my lashes
third pic: before. last pick: i don't know if you can notice it, but it helps with length and volume
i do like how it looks natural on my lashes. it's perfect for a short pick-me-up since it won't smudge if i only use it for a short amount of time. but all day? i won't pick this up. anyway, i'm glad i picked this one because i'm able to try this. however, i won't purchase the full size because i have other mascaras at home to try. if you have the budget and you'd like something lengthening and volumizing, then this is a good option for you. especially if you're into clean makeup brands.
it's been awhile since i use korean skincare products. since there are not many brands left here, i lost interest in trying them. however, when innisfree released their black tea line, i became interested. especially since it looks similar to fresh one. i wanted to see whether it can be called as a dupe or not. anyway, i've tried the serum and i like it, but i don't like the essence, which is quite a shame. this time i'll be trying the cream, so let's see how it goes.
the box
this is the description from their website: a night cream that quickly relieves skin fatigue after a tiring day with 'reset concentrate' and rich nutrients.
- night cream with moisturizing benefits and rich nutrients: this cream is packed with hyaluronic acid, a moisturizing ingredient. it relieves feeling of tightness in dehydrated skin after washing your face, and its deep nourishing formula wraps the skin in comfort to deliver moisturizing and firming benefits at the same time.
- a wax type cream that softly melts on skin: the wax-like formula gently melts at skin temperature, promoting a fast absorption of active ingredients while leaving a refreshing finish.
reset concentrate - potent ingredient meets excellent extraction technologies. beauty green tea has been naturally fermented and became 'black tea'. to ensure that all powerful antioxidants and anti-aging compounds are extracted, the black tea is then infused in mineral water for 12 hours. through this proprietary extraction method, reset concentrate - a potent active ingredient - has been created.
description at the back and sides
the packaging: it comes in a dark brown box that's made or recycled paper. there's description at the back and sides in korean. but since i bought it here, they put a sticker with indonesian description as well. the cream comes in a dark brown glass jar, the same color as the box, probably double-walled, with plastic screw cap. again, there's a bit description in korean at the back of the jar as well. they seal the inside with a cover that you could lift off and throw away. the seal is preventing the cream to come in contact with the air. the cream comes in 45 g, which is slightly more than the usual moisturizer.
the jar
the scent: the cream has a warmth scent, which i don't think it smells like tea.. but not as spicy as ginger. maybe something in between? i'm not good with describing scent, so i might be off. but all i can say that i quite like the scent. it's like giving a comfortable feeling.. and it's subtle so i don't have any problem with it.
the seal
the product: it's a creamy cream with a jiggly pudding texture. well, it might be firmer than jiggly pudding, but that's the feeling that i get every time i scoop it out. i can scoop it up easily with spatula. better using spatula than using your finger, actually. anyway, the cream has a unique texture that i don't expect. even though it's firm, it's still spreadable. though not melt once you spread it around though. but it sinks in nonetheless. it works well with my other skincare products and it doesn't pill on top of everything.
how the cream looks inside the jar
the result: obviously it takes a minute to be absorbed and once it's absorbed, it leaves a trail of glow behind. it's very moisturizing since it's quite thick, but it's not too occlusive. but for me, it's rich enough for night time. i'm quite surprised that it's not too heavy.
left: how it looks like on my hand
right: after blending it around
i have to say i quite like this cream. it's moisturizing without being too heavy. i also like the scent as well. it gives the sense of comfort when i use this every night. it's moisturizing enough for my skin during night time, even though i use retinol every other day. i'm happy to find that there's something else that i like from this line. anyway, i think it's suitable for all skin types. maybe people with dry skin will be able to use this in the daytime as well. as for me, i do like this one and i'll probably repurchase this if i ever run out of stuff to try.
if you had read my blogs, then you'd know that i had bought tatcha set several holidays ago. i've used most of the stuff from the set, this one is the last one that i haven't tried. i like both moisturizers, but the essence is a pass for me. the cleansing oil is so-so. i'm on the fence with the scrub one, so let's see how it goes with this one.
the packaging
this is the description from their website: a gently effective, cream cleanser that washes away daily buildup without stripping skin for a soft, luminous complexion.
key ingredients:
- pH neutral amino acid base: this gentle base removes impurities without stripping skin of its essential oils. unlike most pH-neutral cleansers, this formula foams into a creamy lather, leaving skin silky, smooth, and well-moisturized. this key ingredient also helps to balance the pH-level of the skin, which helps the skin function properly.
- japanese rice powder : used in classical japanese cleansing rituals, rice powder naturally softens and boosts luminosity, while keeping the skin well moisturized.
- okinawa algae blend and hyaluronic acid : a special blend of okinawa algae and hyaluronic acid captures water to help replenish skin's natural moisture reservoir, immediately leaving skin soft, comforted, and deeply nourished. it also helps to replenish ceramides to ensure optimum skin barrier function, aiding in the reduction of future moisture loss, for skin that is visibly smooth and plump with hydration.
the descriptions of everything at the back
tatcha mini favorites, what's inside:
- the camellia cleansing oil (50ml)
- the rice wash (50ml)
- the deep cleanse (50 ml)
- the essence (25 ml)
- the water cream (10 ml)
- the dewy skin cream (10 ml)
the descriptions of everything at the back
the packaging: since i bought this in a set, it comes in pink/purple abstract bag with all the products inside. there's a cardboard sleeve with all the descriptions and ingredients of all the products inside. all the products are placed in a plastic tray so everything is safe and secure. this facial wash comes in a purple plastic squeeze tube with flip top. they seal the opening with aluminum foil to secure everything. it comes in 50 ml, which is the same size as the deep cleanse. it's quite generous for a sample since it can last me for more than two weeks during my trip to new zealand.
the aluminum foil inside
the scent: this one is scentless? or at least if it's scented, it's barely noticeable because it's very subtle.
how it looks like
the product: just like advertised, it's a white creamy cleanser. it's thick, almost like a toothpaste? since it's very thick, i don't need much each use. i can use my bare hands or my foreo to spread this around. it lathers up decently and it's easy to wash off. i think it will last long since i only need just a bit every time.
description at the back
the result: afterward, i can feel that it's moisturizing, but it doesn't leave any film behind. i don't feel anything on top of my skin, but it doesn't strip my skin off either.
how it looks like on my foreo
i think this one is suitable for all skin types. it's moisturizing and non stripping cleanser but it still foams a bit, so if you still like a foaming cleanser, then this is a good option for you. tatcha is a well known brand, so it's easy to get either in sephora or other similar places. however, the price is quite expensive, so it's really up to you to decide whether to splurge or not. as for me, i think there are other options out there with much cheaper price, so i'm glad i get the chance to try this one. but i don't think i'll repurchase nor purchase the full size product.
i've heard several times of farmacy but aside from their honeymoon glow, i don't know what to try from them. so when i saw this set at sephora, i bought it since it will be a good chance for me to try their products. i thought i can bring them with me while traveling, but when i checked it, most of their products are made of glass so i can't bring them. but i have to use them, so i open them at home. the toner is the first one that i use continuously, so let's see how it goes.
the box
this is the description from website: gently exfoliating + clogged pores + oil control. an alcohol free, 2% BHA toner that gently exfoliates, deep cleans pores and control oils without over-stripping skin. this BHA toner is ideal for combination, oily or acne-prone skin.
minimizes shine - the water-light formula in this moringa + papaya toner draws out excess oil to help reduce shine without over-stripping skin. purifies + refreshes - nutrient-dense moringa helps keep skin and pores clean, while antioxidant-rich chlorella nourishes and soothes.
key ingredients:
- chlorella : rich source of antioxidants, helps nourish and soothe skin.
- BHA (2% salicylic acid) : exfoliates, deep cleans pores, draws out excess oil and refines skin texture.
- moringa seed extract + moringa water : purify and refresh skin by removing impurities caused by pollution.
- papaya enzymes : gently exfoliates and clarifies to reveal a fresh-looking complexion.
description at the back
what's inside:
- green clean cleansing balm 12 ml
- deep sweep toner 50 ml
- honeymoon glow serum 10 ml
- honey halo moisturizer 30 ml
ingredients list and more description on the sides
all in one tray
the packaging: since i bought this as a set, it comes in a cardboard box with all the product pictures at front. there's description of everything inside at the back as well as the ingredients list printed on the sides. all the descriptions are in english and french. they place all the products on a plastic tray so everything is safe and secure. the toner itself comes in a light green glass bottle with a white plastic screw cap. since the bottle is made of glass, it's quite heavy. again, there are more descriptions at the back of the bottle in english and french. it comes in 50 ml which is enough for a toner sample. they put a plastic seal on the opening but it's not the type of seal that you can put it back on so i just throw it away.
the bottle
the scent: i don't think it's scented but i think it has that sour or acid smell that most exfoliating toners have. it's not annoying so i don't have any problem with it.
description at the back
the product: it's a watery type toner that you can pour easily out of the box. since this is an exfoliating toner, i have to use a cotton pad. but at first, i only have that thin cotton pad and it doesn't help much. so when i was walking around the mall and saw a box of cleansing cotton pad, i bought it. and oh boy, it does help with the toner. it works better with a cleansing cotton pad. since i also use salicylic acid serum and retinol serum on every other day, i only use this once a day to make sure that i don't over exfoliate my skin.
the white stopper and how it looks after i take it off
the result: when i use a regular thin cotton pad, it doesn't do much. i don't see any dirt on my cotton pad. however, as soon as i change my cotton pad, i notice the changes instantly. i can see some dirt on the cotton pad even though i've just washed my face. after using this method regularly, i can totally feel the sebum on my skin lessen and my skin looks slightly brighter.
look how dirty the cotton pad is
i'm quite surprised that my skin reacts well to this toner. i thought western exfoliating toner will be to harsh for me skin, but this one is perfectly fine for me. i do watch my skin's condition as well. if i feel it's too drying, then i will skip a day without this toner. but once a day is okay for me for now. lately, i also notice that i don't get as much breakouts as i used to around my period. i think this toner in combination with other actives that i use works well for my skin condition. however, since i also use other actives, i can't say that my skin condition is mainly because of this toner. anyway, if you want to splurge and try this toner, i think this is worth it. however, for me, it's too expensive. and i think i can find similar product like this, but cheaper. however i still think this is a good exfoliating toner that's not too harsh on the skin. it might suitable for all skin type, but dry skin might proceed with extra caution.
when i was buying azarine sunscreens, i thought it would be a waste if i just bought their sunscreens. so i look up and try to find new stuff to buy and try. i found that they had several toners as well and when i checked my stash, i almost ran out of my toners as well, so i thought why not. i ended up buying two of them, one is the blue one and the other is the red one. i'm trying the blue one right now so let's see how it goes.

this is the translated description form their website: radiant healthy dewy skin. toner to neutralize skin pH and to make skin moist. this toner is formulated without alcohol, oil and fragrance. with various sizes of hyaluronic acid to moisten in all skin layers as well as repair skin texture.
benefits:
- moisten skin in all skin layers
- make skin look supple and soft
- make skin looks glowing and fresh
- soothe redness and irritated skin
- moisturizer before makeup to make it last longer
- neutralize skin pH

the packaging: all toners don't come with any box. it's just the bottle. but they seal the bottle with plastic sealing. all toners are different in color according to their type. for the blue one, it's the moisture rich one. there's a bit description at the back as well as the ingredients list. the toner comes in .. ml which is enough for a toner. i thought it would have the usual toner bottle opening, but apparently i was wrong. when i open the cap, there's a pump head inside. just like the etude one. if you still remember that toner. anyway, since this is a hydrating toner, it's such a hassle to use a cotton pad since i can't find any way to use this toner without cotton pad without making any mess. so yeah, i have no choice but to use cotton pad.
a little update: after using the original bottle for several days, the pump suddenly doesn't work, so i transfer it to another bottle. unfortunately, after several days, it happens again. and again. so i think it's the toner's consistency that might interfere with the pump system.
the bottle
the scent: the toner isn't scented and it doesn't have weird smell either.
description and ingredients list at the back
the product: when i tried it the first time, it's a bit viscous though it still has that watery characteristics. but it does feel richer than the usual watery toner. that's why i become more confuse, as to why do they have to use a pump head for a rich toner like this? it seems like a waste having to use cotton pad to apply it. anyway, since it's still water enough to squirt out of the pump, it squirts everywhere if i don't use a cotton pad. if i use the cotton pad, it takes a second to soak the cotton pad since it's richer than watery toner.
the pump head inside
the result: if i use my bare hands, i can definitely feel that this has some body into it. so it doesn't sink in quickly. it also has that slippery, slick feeling as i spread it out with my hand. if i use a cotton pad, i do feel a bit slippery feeling as it soaks the cotton pad. of course with cotton pad, i feel like a lot of products is absorbed to the cotton pad so i end up using more than i supposed to? but if i just use my bare hand, i don't need as much. after it's absorbed, i can feel that it's moisturizing. definitely moisturizing without feeling heavy.

i do agree that this one works well. it delivers its promise. it's affordable and easy to find. however, i do have a problem with the packaging. i just hope that they give option and not just put the pump on top of the opening. like i get it for exfoliating toner, you have no choice but to use a cotton pad for better exfoliation. but for a hydrating toner? i can use my hands, so yeah..i wish they just use regular bottle opening instead. anyway, i do like this one and since it's affordable, do try it if you're curious. i think it will suit all skin type, but maybe for super oily skin, you might want to skip one or two step if you think this is too rich for you. as for me, if they do change the packaging, then i might repurchase this. but unless they change it, i won't repurchase for now.
i was about to buy azarine sunscreens when they were first launched. but i still had a lot of sunscreens in my stash, so i halted that plan. but i realized i finish my sunscreen faster than before, so i decided to buy them at the end, but only two out of four. well, three if you count the mist, but the mist is basically the same as this one, only in different format. anyway, i bought the hydramax and hydrosoothe since both has SPF 45 and SPF 50. the other two only have SPF 35, which is not enough for a hot and humid weather like where i live. i've tried the hydramax one and i quite like it, so this time, hopefully the hydrosoothe also works for me.

this is the translated description from their website: gel type sunscreen to moist and soothe skin as well as to protect skin from the sun damage. enriched with natural extracts that are beneficial for skin like royal jelly, aloe vera, green tea, and resveratrol. this gel texture is cool and lightweight so it's easy to be absorbed and doesn't leave any white cast on the skin. suitable for normal, oily, combination, acne prone skin or acne skin.
the tube
the packaging: this doesn't come in any box, unless you bought this in a set. then it will come in a box. they only seal the tube with plastic sealing. anyway, all azarine sunscreen comes in a plastic squeeze tube with flip top, just like a facial wash. however, they have different colors according to the type. for hydramax, the dominant color is orange while for hydrosoothe, it's green and yellow. there's description at the back in indonesian as well as the ingredients list. it comes in 50 ml which is not as big as korean sunscreen, but it's the usual size for local sunscreen. however, the tube makes it look bigger than the real size, so it's a bit deceiving.
description at the back
the scent: this one is scentless. it doesn't have that distinctive sunscreen scent so it's a relief.
the flip top
the product: it's just as marketed. a white gel type sunscreen. it's quite viscous, almost like hydramax. but once i spread it around, i can feel that it's more lightweight than the hydramax. it's easy to spread around and once it's absorbed, there's no white cast at all.
how it looks like on my hand
the result: this one is really lightweight and slightly moist, not as moist as hydramax though. sometimes i avoid putting on moisturizer if i think my skin is too oily. up until i finish this sunscreen, i don't have any problem with this sunscreen. it doesn't break me out and the protection is good.
subtle glow that it gives afterward
i like both sunscreens. but perhapy hydramax for cooler weather and hydrosoothe for hot weather? if you have dry skin, hydramax is a better option for you, but if you have oily skin, then hydrosoothe would be better. as for me, i'd like to put both of them to maybe repurchase list because i like them both. they're very affordable and easy to get, so if you want to try it, then give it a try.
