  • About me
don't be bored yet, i'm trying to catch up on this show before moving on to the new season that i've already late to know. sucks. okay, let's move one, this episode theme is about summer dieting. the most common way to diet is pick the right food, and here's new kind of food for diet: acai berry, quinoa, kale and fennel. i know these might sound fancy, but these are considered new superfood that might help you feel full so you don't overeating. other tips for dieting is cut back your rice (especially for us asian, who eat rice everyday), and drink tea to break down the oil in your food. other way to slim down is by exercising. if you want to get nice bottom, try squats. or if you're so lazy, try tensing your belly all times.

and i don't think there are a lot of interesting items in this episode. most of the items are already seen before, like the benefit pore primer. the tips are the usual tips, like to use concealer for spots, and conceal pore for anti aging effect. use pink cream blush to brighten the face. make straight eyebrow to look younger. this straight eyebrow is popular in korea, while everywhere else usually tend to draw their eyebrows to match their face shape. and use shimmery cream shadow on waterline to make the eyes look more open. not so interesting episode, i must say... but if you want to watch the entire episode, you can watch it here.

i wanted to try my mask sheet other way. usually i put my mask sheet after my toner order. but some kbeauty blogger mentioned that they put their treatments and essence and serum and then put on their mask and finish it off with moisturizer cream or sleeping pack to lock in the moisture. and somehow i have some spare time so i decided to try the other way. i put on my acid and my serum and then put on my mask. this time i decided to try etude house coenzyme q10 mask sheet.

this is the description from their website: this mask sheet contains coenzyme q10 (ubiquinone) that helps protect skin's natural elasticity to enhance a firm complexion with a healthy glow.

now, i know that a mask sheet is just for several minutes, and it won't firm my skin instantly, but somehow i'm intrigued to try those that promise firming and nourishing type, so don't be surprised if my mask sheet somehow around that type. i bought several masks for each type, so i hope i can see the result after several usage.

the packaging: like any previous etude house i need you mask, it comes in a sachet with the main ingredients pictured in front of the sachet. this time i don't know what coenzyme q10 should look like, but the picture on the sachet is just like bubble.

the smell: well, i'm exhausted enough so i'm not quite sure about the scent. but i think i don't smell the alcohol much. which is usually the problem with etude's mask sheet.

the product: the cut is just so-so. the eye and nose are okay, but somehow the cheeks are too big. but it's okay. it feels cool when applied. but it doesn't sting much. the essence is on the generous side, mine still left some inside the sachet. but not too much, like the other one (but i forgot which one). but once i applied the mask on my face, and lie down, nothing is dripping off my face. i think i have to lie down, otherwise the essence will drip all over my neck.

the result: oh well, it's moisturizing enough, but there's no firming feeling. okay, i don't feel any difference in my method of using the mask sheet. after toner of after the serum, i feel the same. but i do feel a change in moisture level in the morning after. the difference is on the closing product, sleeping pack or a night cream. using sleeping pack will lock the moisture better. and afterwards, it won't give greasy look on my face. just when i'm about to wash my face, i can feel a layer of moisture on my face. nice.

so, definitely will try this one again, and with the same order if i have the time.

the theme of this episode is secret global k-beauty items. a lot of interesting items are shown in this episode. most of them i've seen them now, but when i watched it, i have no idea about it. but let's discuss a few tips from this episode first.

even though it's summer, you have to apply moisturizer cream every hour. and for acne people, you can mix your facial foam or facial gel with moisturizer cream with ratio 1:1. somehow it helps with the acne. and since i've used acid now, i know the next step. but back then, i have no idea why apple will help the next step. next step is using ground apple to prepare your skin for the next nutrition. apple contains malic acid, so it exfoliates dead skin, and since it's acid, if you have sensitive skin, you have to be careful. now, if you're familiar with acid, malic acid is one example of AHA. so.. no wonder it will help to prepare your skin. next is whitening step and the most proven product for whitening is vitamin C. next is for aging skin. you can mix your favorite oil with berry to get double effect from your oil. the presenter said that it feels like the moisture is locked inside but it doesn't feel greasy on the surface.

from the makeup demonstration, there are few tips too. like you can mix concealer and ceramide capsule to achieve higher coverage and non matte finish. apply it thicker on your V-line and then go forward toward your nose and outward to your jaw to make dimensional face. mix shimmery powder and blush to make it stick on your cheek. since a lot of people colors their hair, you can mix brown and your hair hue to match your brow with your hair. and then to draw sexy cat eye, start with your eyes open and draw dots and connect it from inside to outer eyeline. and then thicken the inner and outer part and leave the center thin.

now, let's move on to interesting items on this episode. there are few korean beauty items that become popular abroad. like banila co cc cream, and various animal mask sheet (i think the first one to release it are berrisom and SNP). and then there's this silk cotton balls that will help to exfoliate. now, when i watched this episode, i have no idea about the silk cotton balls, but now they're everywhere. and there are certain items that gain popularity in each country. like in china, the famous k-beauty item is the eye patch and animal mask sheet. in japan, the silk balls. in america, lip products, especially the two tone lip product. in europe, the famous item is the cushion. i think they're all attracted to iope air cushion xp. no wonder it's a best sellers. now, what kbeauty item that you think is interesting? for me i think their cushion products and their animal mask sheet are interesting.

banila co cc cream
berrisom animal mask
SNP animal mask
gold eye patch (i believe there are other brands that also have this)

silk balls, this one from cosrx
two tone lip bar from laneige
iope air cushion xp

arghh.. .i'm so sorry that i forgot to continue this series. i've finished watching the show months ago, but i kept forgetting to write down interesting items or tips that i've found on the show. but i will make amend and start doing that. after all, i've just found out that actually the show has been continued for the F/W, which is already late.. will keep updated on that too.

okay, about the episode 12, it's about summer beauty. and they're discussing the swimsuit trend. there two trends on the swimsuit, the rashguard and the bohemian. the rashguard is basically a long sleeve T-shirt top with shorts (for bigger lower body) or a usual bikini bottom. while the bohemian is talking about the material for the bikini, which is lace or knit to express sexy feeling about the swimsuit.

as for the makeup demonstration, there's no useful tip on this makeup demo. in fact, i think there's only one tip from the show. which is to soak cotton pad in flat beer to treat sunburn. and that's not even from the makeup demo.

now about the interesting items, there are eyeliner stickers which i think is a time saviour, but i don't know where to get it, and the color changing nail color. now i've heard about it, that it will change to cold/hot change, but i never use it and i forgot the brand name. if you knew about it, please do let me know. now the items on the makeup demo, i think i'll be seeing a lot of korean products like other episodes, but this time the makeup artist prefer western product. he used benefit porefessional face primer as makeup primer and biore UV watery essence. now the last item is the most interesting one though. it makes the whole makeup become waterproof. it's catrice prime and fine mattifying powder waterproof. but i think it has copycat, the rising star bounce 88 pact, i think it's thailand-made. but i have no idea about the performance, both of them. if you have tried both of them or one of them, please tell me..

i've mentioned in my previous post that i decided to do double masking, and i did a clay mask with my face shop clay mask mousse and the missha firming clay, and then i felt my skin was too tight. and then i remembered i have this innisfree honey mask to use on dry day, just like yesterday. so i decided to continue the pampering session with a mask sheet. and since i don't experience "dry day" often, i think it's a good chance to use my mask sheet.

this is the description from their website: moisturize your skin with the manuka honey it's real squeeze mask. manuka honey from new zealand's manuka flower has abundant nutrients for healthier skin. the jeju green complex consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaves, and orchids to keep your skin healthy. this triple layer sheet has a long-lasting moisturizing effect so that the essence can gradually be absorbed into the skin.

the packaging: the sachet itself is pretty boring, white with a picture of the main ingredient in front. this time it's a beehive with honey spreading from it. it makes it easier to grab which one you want to use.

the smell: i do hope this one has a honey smell, probably something sweet, but i'm disappointed. i can only smell like wet tissue (perhaps it's the alcohol) and a little bit something else, but not honey.

the product: the mask sheet is thicker than etude's, and i like it. and i prefer the cutting to compared to etude's but this time, somehow the cheek part is not fitted at one side. or it's probably just me, or my position at that time since i was lying down and looking to one side to watch my ipad. the essence is generous but not dripping wet (i hate if the essence's dripping to my neck).

the result: it's moisturizing enough, but not as moisturizing as i thought it will be. after all, it's honey which is a famous ingredients for hydration and also anti inflammation. i thought it will be like using a sleeping pack or a night cream, but it's just so-so. and plus it stings a little on my eyes. when i used this, i watched my ipad, so both my eyes were open, and it stings. although i've been experienced the similar experience with the etude one, but this one stayed longer than stinging from etude.

so, definitely won't buy it again if i can find something else more moisturizing for a keepsake in the future "dry" day. and if you're a honey lover, i think u'd better skip it, it's nowhere near honey-honey. but if you like cheap mask sheet that helps a little with hydration and have no problem with alcohol, then buy it.

sorry for not updating anything lately. both kids are sick again and i'm feeling down too and finally getting infected by their cold. but i decided to force myself to keep on going. it's hard, but i have to. last night, i have no energy to do anything, but i decided i've been neglecting my skin, so i decided to kick my butt and give myself double masking. first with the clay mask (dual too, the volcanic and the firming one from missha) and then mask sheet (will review it later). and the result is marvelous. i woke up like a zombie (thanks to sleep deprivation) but my skin is glowing. hahaha.. pretty weird. okay, so this morning i decided to open another sample to try. this time is a toner from skinfood. and it's from one of their anti aging line. the other anti aging products that i've tried from skinfood is from their gold caviar line. so i think it's a good thing to try.
pic from bydeals.net
this is the description from their website: a premium toner containing visible platinum particles and grape cells that provide intensive firming treatment for aging skin. grape cell story: bourgogne is oneof the three best wine producers in france - bourdeux, bourgogne, and cotes du rhonone - known for the gamay grapes. extracted from the gamay grapes, our grapce cells help regenerate skin cells, firming skin from the inside out. platinum story: platinum is one of the purest and rarest metals in the world. with excellent antioxidant effects, platinum is used for food, medical, cosmetics, and etc.

the packaging: the full size is in a wine bottle look alike with a pump, while the sample only in a square sachet but share a similar design as the full size bottle, which is in purple and platinum color. no english text on the sachet.

the smell: i had stuffy nose so i can't pick any scent, but i think it has very subtle scent that don't linger that long. once it's on your face you can't smell anything. edit: at my last attempt to sniff it i can pick sweet scent, like fruity sweet.. so i think it's their attempt to make it grape-like.

the product: actually, i never encounter any toner that doesn't have viscosity like water, so i'm quite surprised to find out that this one is slightly thicker than water. so no cotton pad needed to apply this one. slightly sticky after application too. but it's absorbed quickly. oh, and some people mentioned that there's this platinum dots just like the gold specks in gold caviar line. since i only have one sachet, i only managed to get the dots 1-2 times. other than that, it's just a clear gel-ish thing i get on my hand.

the result: one sachet can last me up to 4 times usage (note that i use tiny dots every time i use this, because i have combination skin, i'm afraid using too much will make my face greasy). it's moisturizing enough on its own, and with combination with my moisturizer, i will be greaseball if it's very hot and humid.

so, definitely won't purchase the full size. recommended for super dry skin or those who live in winter areas, and of course aging skin. i bet the moisturizing power is quite strong if you use the whole line. but for combination or oily skin you might want to skip it. or if you want to try it, just limit to one product, either the toner or the essence, but not the whole line and mind the amount you use each time.
