  • About me
my beauty diary is one of my favorite brand when it comes to sheet mask. so whenever it's possible, i always buy some. i don't even care about trying one piece. if i have to buy the whole box, i'd just buy it. i usually buy it when i go to japan. somehow they always have newer version. so when i saw that they released some limited edition masks, i grabbed them all without thinking. now i'm glad i made that decision since we all can't travel overseas thanks to the coronavirus pandemic situation. oh well, let's see how it goes. i don't know which type of essence this one has, so i'm hoping this one has clear type essence and not the milky one.

i can't find any description from their website, perhaps because it's limited edition, but this is a description from official indonesian reseller: refreshing, cooling and moisturizing. wild thamnolia vermicularia extract is rich in minerals that help soothe and refresh irritated skin, while increasing skin defense. enriched with a blend of extracts of sunflower, calendula and horse chestnut extracts, this mask optimally hydrates the skin so the skin becomes moisturized and soft.
function: helps moisturize and refresh the skin.
how to use: after cleaning your face and using toner, gently apply the mask to the face. with tinysome which accelerates the absorption of serum into the skin, just use a mask for 5-10 minutes. masks can also be used for 20-30 minutes. after releasing, massage the remaining essence so that it's fully absorbed on face. the face does not need to be rinsed. then use cream on the face as usual. use at least 2-3 times a week for maximum results.

the packaging: i bought this in a box. the box size is smaller compared to the other ones that i bought from japan the other time. there are used to be 8 masks in a box, but now it's only 4 masks in a box. the box has the same design as the individual packaging. this time it has sky blue background with a big polar bear swimming in the ice lemon tea drink. there's description at the back in japanese as well as ingredients list.
the packaging
the scent: it smells a bit like lime or lemon, but when i use it again, i think i can pick a hint of green tea as well. but it's very faint so it's unnoticeable when you put it on your face.

the product: the mask is made of thin material which i can't say that it is, but it's the same material as other masks. it adheres well. but the fit is a bit wide for my face. it has wide temple and tall forehead, and even though there's no slit, i can adjust the mask just fine. it has those weird inner eye slit though, but i don't mind since it doesn't poke my eyes. i'm glad this one has clear essence. it has enough essence and there's a bit left, but it's not enough to soak a tablet mask.

middle: mask on
right: after

the result: i put it on for about 30 minutes, and i can feel it's hydrating and a bit soothing as well. i've tried this when i had acne, and i can see the redness fades a bit after using this mask.

i'm glad i find another type of MBD mask to like. but i'm also disappointed that this is a limited edition, so i probably couldn't find it again. if i could, i would definitely repurchase this one. if you find any my beauty diary mask, i suggest you grab some. there's only a few that i don't like, the ones with milky essence is not suitable for my skin, but i like the clear essence one. unfortunately, there's no way to tell which one that has clear essence, so i do hope they put a bit description on their website so i don't go bling every time i buy their mask.
as i've said in other post, starting this year, i'd like to try more local brands. there are many local brands that seems to be trustworthy and their products have good quality as well. one of the brands that seems promising is somethinc. though they're famous for their serums, somehow i'm more attracted to their peeling solution, which at first i think would be dupe for the ordinary AHA BHA solution. but later i found out it isn't a dupe. let's see how it goes.

this is the description from their website: get rid of clogged pores for good! AHA 3% BHA 1% PHA 2% help to clean clogged pores, remove dead skin cells and maintain skin moisture level.
how to use: do not use on wet skin. wash your face and wait for skin to dry. use dropper to apply 5-10 drops across face and neck, avoiding the eyes area. leave it not more than 10 minutes. rinse with lukewarm water. can be used 2 times/week.
ingredients: aqua, glycerin, niacinamide, lactobionic acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, hydroxyethylcellulose, daucus carota leaf extract, hibiscus sabdariffa extract, triethanolamine, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, phenoxyethanol.

the packaging: this solution doesn't have any box. it's sealed by plastic sealing on the outer. the bottle is a glass frosted bottle with dropper to dispense the product. since it's quite transparent, you can see the red peeling solution from the outside. there's a label with a bit description on the bottle. however, though i knew that the size would be small, i was still surprised that 20 ml would be that small. anyway.. since i'd only using it once a week, i think it would be enough.
the bottle
the scent: i don't think how this one smells. sometimes i think it smells like grape juice, a bit sweet and acid. but sometimes i don't think i could smell any scent. anyway, if you could detect any scent, it's very subtle so it won't bother you.
label at the back
the product: it's red wine liquid. it's really runny so it's a bit hard to avoid it from running to my eyes and lips. so instead of dropping it all over my face, i decided to drop it on one area and spread it around quickly with other hand and then add more if needed. the instruction is to wait around 10 minutes for it to dry, and then wash it off. before i wash it off, i don't feel any hardening or stiffening of the liquid on my face. no discomfort or anything. just a bit tacky. it washes off well without any residue. it's quite transparent though. even though i've piled more drops than recommended, i don't see any redness on my face because of the liquid. while the ordinary one, you can see from people's photos that it would make your face red.
the dropper
the result: now, i've been trying several acid before this. COSRX AHA and BHA, the ordinary lactic acid and retinoid, and recently drunk elephant retinol. so you can say that my skin is a bit familiar with acid. since this only contains 3% AHA 1%BHA and 1% PHA, i think the concentration is quite low, so i don't experience any side effect. fyi, the ordinary one is AHA 30% and BHA 2%. no pilling, no redness. nothing. as if this liquid doesn't do anything on my face. i still use this once a week (i use retinol three times a week and mud mask once a week, so available slot is only once a week) and it works okay, not creating mayhem to my skin. interestingly, i read recently that even though this is marketed as peeling solution, the concentration is pretty low compared to the ordinary one (thus, not dupe). so it's okay to use this overnight without washing it off. so obviously i want to try the theory. i use it as spot treatment on my acne for several hours and it helps in healing my acne faster. but if you have open scar, don't use it as spot treatment as it will sting as hell.
left: with the liquid on my face
right: after washing it off
you can't see the difference right?
so, if you're new to acid world, you can try this one as it is very gentle with low concentration. you can even use it longer than the recommendation. if you had more experience with acid, then you should skip this as it might not give you the result that you hope. sometimes i can still see blackhead on my nose, and it doesn't help much in fading acne scar or smoothing skin texture. that's why i don't think i'll repurchase once i finish this bottle. luckily they provide smaller size bottle so i don't need to spend long time to finish this. price wise, for the small bottle it's still affordable, but if they released bigger size, i don't think people would spend that much money when they can buy something else with the same price. as for me, i'm thinking of buying avoskin acid products next.
i have been diligent about taking care of my skin for almost 6 years now, and i still learn about ingredients that suits me well and which one is not. i found out that my skin reacts well to vitamin c as well as snail products and FTE, so i always try to put products with that ingredients into my routine. and i've been searching for an effective, affordable and easy to get vitamin c, because the one that i like is too hard to get. anyway, i have been contemplating about purito vitamin c serum because i heard good things about it, but i'm also afraid that it might get bad easily because many people say about it goes bad quickly. but i decided to give it a try. it gives me a fright when i received it at first, but let's see how it goes.

this is the description from the website: it's time to recharge vitamin c! vitamin c 5% and hyaluronic acid 89% are the main ingredients, along with natural niacinamide and red ginseng extract to rejuvenate the skin. the serum relieves acne scars, dark circles, and freckles, with whitening functionality and prevents skin aging. the serum ensures clear skin tone and firm healthy skin the next day.
ingredients: sodium hyaluronate liquid, ascorbic acid 5%, 1,2-hexanediol, niacinamide, arginine, nelumbo nucifera flower extract, magnolia liliflora bud extract, lilium tigrinum extract, paeonia lactiflora root extract, tuber magnatum extract, pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, panax ginseng root extract, brassica oleracea italia (broccoli) extract, ananas sativua (pineapple) fruit extract, curcuma longa (tumeric) root extract, sodium polyacrylate, adenosine, disodium EDTA.

the packaging: it comes in a box that's made from recycled material. it has description at front in english and it's repeated at the back along with ingredients list. there's also description at the back in korean. there's directions for use on the side in english and probably in korean on the other side. inside there's a plastic bag with all the products inside. there's a separate bottle covered with screw cap and sealed with another seal on the opening. there's also a separate pump head to change the screw cap with so you can use it to dispense the product. the bottle is made from dark brown plastic bottle with another description printed on the body. but the pump head is covered in transparent plastic cap. now i will start my grudge about the packaging. after removing the seal, i replaced the screw cap with the pump. weirdly, the serum inside exploded a bit. i saw it bubbled inside, and i heard fizzy sound like a can of soda that's being opened after getting shaken a bit. it was a mess. i took off the pump head again and waited for a few moments, but it still got out from the pump and left messy stain. and everytime i use the serum and it gets shaken a bit, it would leak from the pump. very messy. and the pump is not good either. since the serum is liquid, somehow the pump would spray it everywhere and it would get messy. or it would leak from the neck. totally hate the packaging. i think dropper would be more suitable packaging for serum like this instead of pump.
the packaging
the back of the box

the scent: usually vitamin c has citrusy scent, but i don't know whether mine is foul already, because it smells a bit fishy and weird. but i got used to it anyway. and it doesn't linger thankfully, so i can stand the scent.
another description on the box
this time in korean
the product: this is another problem. i've read other reviews, and most of them have the same problem, the serum is expired quickly. it oxidizes quickly. so many people suggested to store them in the fridge. when i looked at the website, the serum seems almost transparent to goldish yellow. but when i searched online, there were some pictures that show yellow serum and it's still acceptable. mine already became yellow when it's arrived, but it's still similar like the one i found online. it's liquid so it's a bit troublesome since it tends to get messy. but it spreads well and absorbed quickly. i've been keeping it in my fridge, and luckily after almost two months, it still hasn't changed yet. the website said that if it has brownish specks, then it's expired. but mine is still bright yellow. anyway, i have heard that acid can make you feel tingling sensation on your skin. i never experienced that even when i used the "scream" serum. but when i used this serum, i can feel my skin is tingling. like it's really working. so i guess the claim that this serum is quite potent is true.
the bottle
description at the back of the bottle
the result: okay.. not let's get on the result. i might sound grumpy about the packaging and the serum being so quick to oxidize, but i have to say that this one really does work magic. i can notice it lighten my dark spot a bit. definitely see the brightening effect especially in combination with sunscreen and my foreo green light option. more over with this lockdown situation, i barely go outside under the sun except for morning sunbath.
the annoying pump head
the state of the serum when it's arrived
up until now it's still bright yellow, no brownish speck
so, this is definitely a good and effective vitamin c serum. it's affordable and if you're concern about cruelty free and other stuff, purito is one of the brand that made clear about their stand in environment. if you're concern about brightening effect, then you might want to try this. but remember to store this in your fridge, especially if you live in tropical country. anyway, i don't feel any suppleness from this serum. unlike the one from the ordinary, i could feel my skin becomes more supple when i use their vitamin c serum. so, if suppleness is your target, then you might not love this serum. as for me, i don't think i'll repurchase it again. i know it works well and it is affordable and it's easier to get nowadays since purito has official store in tokopedia. but i hate the packaging and the fuss of having to store it in my fridge. so unless they change the packaging or change the formula to make it not easy to oxidize, i think i'll try find something else.
i don't know why i always buy lululun masks whenever i went to japan. i do like their masks in a pack, so when they released their plus line, i wanted to try as well. i've tried the essential care masks and i do like some of them, but for the aroma care masks, i don't like most of them. there are 5 masks in this line and 5 masks in essential care line, and this is the last one to try. i put this one for last because i'm quite afraid what lemongrass will smell like. so let's see.

this is the description from their website: courage to tackle new challenges - blend of lemongrass essential oils from india. lemongrass has been used for centuries in india for its pleasing balance of booth crisp and sweet floral overtones. lemongrass revitalizes the senses when you are tired, and provides an extra boost to take on new challenges. lemongrass extract also returns your skin to its natural luxuriant appearance.
indian lemongrass essential oil formulation: lemongrass that has been used for thousands of years in india. a refreshing scent with sweetness that revitalizes the spirit's energy and gives it a boost for the challenges ahead. lemongrass extract brightens the skin for an even and glowing complexion.
artichoke: a favorite from ancient times. as an effective herb for beautiful skin, artichoke has been a favorite since ancient greek and roman times and is now widely used in french cuisine. extracts extracted from artichoke leaves condition skin roughness and leaves the skin with a smooth and youthful complexion.
cinderella care, extracted from european herbs. cinderella care (wild thyme extract) extracted from herbs and wild thyme of native european europe. it brightens and conditions tired skin for a healthy looking and even complexion.

the packaging: it has cyan background with the picture of lemongrass at front. description at the back always in japanese. the background is different each type. so you can differentiate each type from its color. other than that, everything's the same for the whole line.
the packaging
the scent: oh my.. i was right when i was hesitant to use this mask. the scent is off putting for me. it smells like lemongrass, quite strong too. and it lingers for some time. if you like herbal scent, you might be okay with it since it also has that herbal scent too.

the product: the mask material is thick but soft that adheres well to my skin. it's wide on temples area and a bit tall forehead. but it has that weird inner eye slit while there's no other slit on the outer rim. it has long nose flat and other holes are okay. the fit is okay for me. it has clear essence but due to the pungent smell, i don't even see inside the pouch whether there's some left or not.
left: before
middle: mask on
right: after
the result: i put it on for about 15 to 20 minutes, and it's still wet. i think you can still put it on for another 15 minutes, but i can't stand the smell. after that i can see that it's hydrating but i don't see other visible effect.

let's just say that i'm obviously won't repurchase this type again. i'm okay with the essential oil care ones, but not the arome care masks. but if you like aromatherapy or you don't mind with scented masks, then you should buy it. but, you should keep in mind that lululun masks are pretty regular. they're not super juicy like taiwanese masks. so it's more suitable to be use as daily or regular masking, not for extra long pampering session. it's affordable as well, but the price won't be the same if you're buying it online or outside japan.
i bought this pack a while ago. i've tried some but then i don't like it so i stop for a bit. then i bought foreo ufo, and suddenly, it changed my mind about saborino masks. anyway.. most saborino masks come in a pack, quite a big bulk, so choosing the right type is a must. but knowing which one to pick is hard since most japanese brands don't come with english description. luckily, lately they released smaller pack, so i think i'd try that one before buying the big bulk. anyway.. i really picked this one without doing any research before, so i just grabbed it randomly. later i found out that it's a morning type mask that supposed to refresh your skin.

this is the description from nanamall website: saborino morning mask is designed to help you get ready quickly in the morning. when you wake up, take one sheet out and put it on your face. the sheet will take effect in just 60 seconds and you can start applying makeup. saborino morning mask is a life savior for everyone who wants to look amazing in the office in the morning, but wants to sleep in for just another five minutes! this special care face mask gives you 3-in-1 performance for cleansing, skincare, and primer (base). simply leave the mask for 1 minute for a quick skin nourishment after waking up. with pleasant mint and grapefruit scent.

the packaging: like i've mentioned before, this comes in a bulk packaging, so it comes in wet tissue like packaging. it's quite thick since it is a 32-pieces packaging. it comes in mint background and the main ingredients are pictured at front. for this one, it's grapefruit and mint. there's description at the back, but everything is in japanese as usual. the opening is quite secure. once you open the lid, there's another seal like a can lid inside. you have to get rid of it before you can lift the mask.
the packaging
the scent: it smells really like mint. not too overwhelming though. it smells like fresh wet tissue, but it doesn't linger. once you put it on your face, the scent will dissipate.
description at the back
the product: the fit is not the best. it is really small. usually most mask will fit me, but this one is too small for my face. it's okay for the forehead and chin area, but it's too small on both cheeks and jaws area. it doesn't even cover my whole cheek. but thanks to christina from christinahello, she said to stretch it to make it fit to your face. and it's right. i can stretch it so it covers my cheeks. but the eye holes and mouth hole will be stretched as well. it doesn't have any slit but it has weird inner eye slit. the mask is made of thin material and stretchable. but since it's thin, it doesn't hold much essence. the essence is clear and runny type essence and it's distributed well among all the masks. but i always make sure i turn the packaging upside down so the essence is distributed well. the instruction says to use it only for 30 seconds, but since i'm using it with my foreo, i put it on my face at least 5 minutes.
left: before
middle: mask on
right: after
the result: at first, it gives minty sensation so it's slightly cooling. but it's also sting my eyes for few first times. this is why i stopped using this in the first place. but then i realize this is called morning refreshing mask for a reason. this really awakens me. but unfortunately, i use this at night, so.. that's why i don't like it. anyway, it's standard hydrating mask, without any additional effect. since there's not much essence, it dries up easily. but i can use it for 5 minutes without any problem. there's still a bit left in the pouch after i finish all the masks, but not much.
left: original size of the mask (notice how it doesn't cover my lower jaw)
right: after stretching it (now it can reach my lower jaw)

i have to say that since having foreo ufo, i like saborino masks better, but this type is a no for me. maybe other type, but not this one. it does give you refreshing feeling that you need to wake you up in the morning, but i don't use mask in the morning. so if you like using masks in the morning and in need for something refreshing to wake you up, then you should try it. though i think it's okay for all skin types, dry skin type might not like this since it's super lightweight. especially if you like mask-pampering session. this one is more suitable for quick masking session. as for the price, it's still affordable since it comes in a bulk. but it's not easily to get outside japan. there is some online shops selling it, but here the price would be much higher. so i don't think i'll purchase another one unless i went to japan to buy it again.
i've heard so many good things about this eyebrow pencil, so when i saw them in singapore, i grabbed two of them since i had no idea which shade that's suitable for me. i've tried the brunette one and now i tried the medium brown one. let's see which one is better for me.

this is the description from their website: shady slim brow pencil is the perfect way to get fuller, beautifully sculpted brows. shape and fill brows with the retractable super skinny tip to create natural looking hair-like strokes. use the opposite end spoolie to brush and blend brow color for a finished look.

the packaging: it only comes in pen shape, covered with transparent plastic sealing. they also put sticker over it, so it's annoying and troublesome to rip the sealing. since the pencil is so slim, it's hard to get a good grip. i do hope they put the sealing some other way, or at least give a lid to make it easier to get rid of the sealing. on the body, you can see the shade name. and the cap of the pencil part is colored according to the pencil shade. the other part is the spoolie end which covered with transparent plastic cap.
the eyebrow pencil
the shade: this one is medium brown. it's quite dark and might suit dark-brown hair to black hair. but this has slightly reddish undertone compare to the brunette one which is more cool tone. if i just use this slightly, i can get away with it.
the shade name printed on the body
the product: just like the other one, it's a really slim brow pencil, automatic so you just need to twist it to get it out. the other side is a really slim spoolie. since it's so small and slim, it's hard on my eyebrows so i just use separate spoolie and never use it. the pencil is really small so you can draw hair like strokes. but on the other side, it's too small so it finishes up quickly.
the pencil part
the result: well, it does what it does. it can draw eyebrow really good even if you're a beginner. the pencil is small so you can draw hair like strokes. and it's not super hard either. but it washes off easily, so keep that in mind. unfortunately, i don't like the spoolie because it's too small. but other than that, it's okay for me.
the spoolie part
top: before
bottom: after
i would like to repurchase if it's as cheap as the one in the US. here the price is almost doubled. so i don't think it's worth it. especially since i finish it very quickly. but the shade range is still doable for people here. considering most people here have dark hair, i bet they can find somewhere within the brown range that has several options. as for me, i'm glad i bought this one, but i won't repurchase unless it's on sale. i think i'll try some local brand next.
